0:02:39 > 0:02:42Ey up, I think I'll find them in here.

0:02:46 > 0:02:48Ah, the Egyptian room.

0:02:50 > 0:02:53Hey, Ethan. There you are. It's nice to see you.

0:02:53 > 0:02:58- Hello, Mr Bloom.- What are you looking at here?- Some Egyptian pots.

0:02:58 > 0:03:01Ooh, they look very old to me. What were they used for?

0:03:01 > 0:03:05They were used for food and drink and some for storing things.

0:03:05 > 0:03:08Ooh, I don't fancy having my breakfast out of those now!

0:03:08 > 0:03:10What else is interesting?

0:03:10 > 0:03:15- Well, there's a mummified fish. - A mummified fish?!- Yes.- Really?!

0:03:15 > 0:03:20- Are you pulling my wellies?- No! - No, let's go and find it.

0:03:21 > 0:03:25The ancient Egyptians preserved the bodies of people and animals

0:03:25 > 0:03:28and they're known as mummies.

0:03:28 > 0:03:31They put the mummies in cases and you can tell

0:03:31 > 0:03:36what's inside by the shape and picture on the outside.

0:03:38 > 0:03:43- This is Carolyn. She knows all about the Egyptians.- Ah, I see.

0:03:43 > 0:03:45- It's nice to meet you, Carolyn.- Hi.

0:03:45 > 0:03:49- And is this the fish you were talking about, Ethan?- Yes.

0:03:49 > 0:03:53It's got a little face on it. Wow, looks like a funny fish to me.

0:03:53 > 0:03:58Yeah, this is one of our many animal mummies that we have in the museum.

0:03:58 > 0:04:00And it's a mummified Nile perch

0:04:00 > 0:04:05and what's really cool about it is that the tail of the fish is here.

0:04:05 > 0:04:07Where the face is? Why is that?

0:04:07 > 0:04:10The Egyptians, for some reason, wrapped it

0:04:10 > 0:04:12and put the head on the wrong end!

0:04:12 > 0:04:15Yeah, and how do you know there's a fish in there

0:04:15 > 0:04:17and not just a sausage?!

0:04:17 > 0:04:21We have X-rays and that's how we can tell it is a Nile perch

0:04:21 > 0:04:25- and it's wrapped the wrong way. - So, you can see inside?- Yes.

0:04:25 > 0:04:29- Let's have a look. - An X-ray is a photo

0:04:29 > 0:04:31that lets you see inside things.

0:04:33 > 0:04:38Here's our fish mummy. That's the X-ray of what's inside.

0:04:38 > 0:04:43And, look... There is the head on the tail end!

0:04:43 > 0:04:46And it's upside down. Yeah, can you see it now?

0:04:47 > 0:04:51Wow, fancy that. Well, I didn't believe you, Ethan -

0:04:51 > 0:04:55a mummified fish but there it is. This place is great.

0:04:55 > 0:04:58I was wondering, do you know where Kirstin and Abbey might be?

0:04:58 > 0:05:01- I think they're this way.- Really? Let's go find them. Thanks, Carolyn.

0:05:01 > 0:05:03- You're welcome!- Bye!

0:05:08 > 0:05:12Hey, Kirstin, Abbey. We found you. What are you up to?

0:05:12 > 0:05:17- This is Don and he knows all about the fossils.- Ooh, hello, Don.- Hiya!

0:05:17 > 0:05:20- So, what have we got here? - This is a fish

0:05:20 > 0:05:25and it lived about 160 million years ago in Lyme Regis in Dorset.

0:05:25 > 0:05:28This is like a really, really old fish.

0:05:28 > 0:05:31- Yeah, even older than your dad! - No way!

0:05:31 > 0:05:35And even older than our mummified fish. Look, tiddlers.

0:05:35 > 0:05:39Can you see the fins? Wow. Look at the detail.

0:05:39 > 0:05:43I've heard that there's some other fish in this museum,

0:05:43 > 0:05:45is that right, Abbey?

0:05:45 > 0:05:49Yeah, there are relatives downstairs in the aquarium.

0:05:49 > 0:05:51- What, relatives of this old fish? - Yes.

0:05:51 > 0:05:55- How about we go and have a look? Shall we do that?- Yeah!

0:05:55 > 0:05:58- Come on, then. Thanks a lot, Don. Bye-bye.- Pleasure.

0:06:04 > 0:06:08Look at that bit there!

0:06:08 > 0:06:10That's the skin!

0:06:12 > 0:06:15- So this is the aquarium, is that right?- Yes.

0:06:15 > 0:06:19- So, what have we got here? - Little fish.

0:06:19 > 0:06:21Wow, they are little.

0:06:21 > 0:06:25They are teeny tiny fish. And where do these fish live?

0:06:25 > 0:06:29- Do they live in the sea? - They live in streams and rivers.

0:06:29 > 0:06:32Right, so that means they are freshwater fish.

0:06:32 > 0:06:36- What else have we got down here? Let's see.- Rainbow fish.

0:06:36 > 0:06:39Why do you think they are called rainbow fish?

0:06:39 > 0:06:41They've got all different colours on them.

0:06:41 > 0:06:44They have all the colours of the rainbow.

0:06:46 > 0:06:50This is what happens when people throw rubbish in the rivers.

0:06:50 > 0:06:52Yeah, I can see.

0:06:52 > 0:06:56Fish can't swim through crisp packets so there isn't any in there.

0:06:56 > 0:06:59But there's more in this next tank.

0:06:59 > 0:07:04- These guys are pretty fancy, aren't they?- They're called pencil fish.

0:07:04 > 0:07:08They're just like a pencil because they have stripes like a pencil.

0:07:08 > 0:07:13And they've got black noses that look like the lead on the end of it.

0:07:13 > 0:07:17This tank, it is so shiny I think we can see ourselves in it.

0:07:17 > 0:07:22- Like a mirror.- It is a bit like a mirror.- A shiny, beautiful mirror.

0:07:22 > 0:07:26Hello, Mr Bloom!

0:07:26 > 0:07:29Come on, let's keep going.

0:07:31 > 0:07:34Some of the tiddlers from the aquarium club are busy

0:07:34 > 0:07:36working on something.

0:08:08 > 0:08:10Adam, do you like coming to the aquarium?

0:08:10 > 0:08:13Yes, because you can find lots of different fish.

0:08:13 > 0:08:16That's true, yes. I've seen loads of fish today.

0:08:16 > 0:08:21- And Eleanor, have you got a favourite fish?- Yellow Malawi.

0:08:21 > 0:08:24They're very pretty, aren't they?

0:08:28 > 0:08:30- No.- No, what do they eat?

0:08:30 > 0:08:34- Little red worms. - Little red worms.

0:08:34 > 0:08:36I've heard that fish eat all sorts of different things.

0:08:36 > 0:08:41- Do you know what other things they like to eat, Amy?- Fruit.- Fruit?!

0:08:41 > 0:08:43What, like you and me?

0:08:43 > 0:08:46And how would you feel if I gave the fish some fruit for their lunch?

0:08:46 > 0:08:49Excited!

0:08:49 > 0:08:53- Go on, tiddlers, let's see what fruit we can spot.- Grape!

0:08:54 > 0:08:58They're eating grapes.

0:08:58 > 0:09:01Red grapes!

0:09:01 > 0:09:03Cherry!

0:09:03 > 0:09:06He's eating cherries! Wow.

0:09:06 > 0:09:09Those big pieces, they have to take little nibbles. Can you see him?

0:09:09 > 0:09:14- He's nibbling that cherry. Oh, yeah. What's that? - DING-DING!

0:09:16 > 0:09:18Don't worry. It's my route finder.

0:09:18 > 0:09:24And I think, yeah, the route finder wants to show us some more fish.

0:09:24 > 0:09:27There are tiny fish. Ooh, loads of them.

0:09:29 > 0:09:36And enormous fish who swim really slowly through the water.

0:09:36 > 0:09:39There are super fast fish, look at him go!

0:09:39 > 0:09:43There are fancy fish too.

0:09:43 > 0:09:48Yeah, very pretty. And some which aren't quite so pretty!

0:09:51 > 0:09:54And deep down in the sea where it's really dark,

0:09:54 > 0:09:59this jellyfish only glows red when a light is shined on it.

0:10:01 > 0:10:06Some fish like to travel in really big groups called a shoal.

0:10:15 > 0:10:19Ooh, what an awful lot of fish, eh, tiddlers?

0:10:19 > 0:10:22And Ethan, I've got a question for you. Do you know

0:10:22 > 0:10:25how many different types of fish there are in the world?

0:10:25 > 0:10:29Over 32,000. And that's all we know about.

0:10:29 > 0:10:34- And did you learn that here in the aquarium?- Yes.- Fancy that!

0:10:34 > 0:10:37And look, I can see lots of different types of fish

0:10:37 > 0:10:40in your picture. Have you almost finished it?

0:10:40 > 0:10:44Yeah, we just need this last pebble to stick on.

0:10:45 > 0:10:50There we go. I reckon I know what this picture is of.

0:10:50 > 0:10:54I think it could be of the Amazon - the Amazon forest with

0:10:54 > 0:10:57the river running through there with all the fishes.

0:10:57 > 0:11:00I can see some fish food up there, what do you reckon, Paul?

0:11:00 > 0:11:02Yeah, that's definitely fish food.

0:11:02 > 0:11:06We've got some pineapple, bananas which are going to fall off those

0:11:06 > 0:11:10trees when they're ripe if they don't get eaten by birds and monkeys.

0:11:10 > 0:11:12And the fish are going to eat them.

0:11:12 > 0:11:14And we actually have some Amazonian fish -

0:11:14 > 0:11:19some Amazon angelfish, and Brazilian pufferfish.

0:11:19 > 0:11:23- So they will be eating the fruit just like we saw earlier.- Yes.
