0:00:58 > 0:01:03Lily and Baba Bryn live in a country far away called Kenya,

0:01:03 > 0:01:05which is in Africa.

0:01:05 > 0:01:11Baba means "Daddy" in Swahili, which is a language spoken in Kenya.

0:01:11 > 0:01:13They live on this great big farm,

0:01:13 > 0:01:16where they have lots and lots of horses.

0:01:16 > 0:01:20They also have lots of these special African cows

0:01:20 > 0:01:24and Lily is going to tell us who else lives there.

0:01:24 > 0:01:26This is my Mama

0:01:26 > 0:01:31and my naughty sister, Coco.

0:01:36 > 0:01:40Lily and Coco are sisters and the best of friends.

0:02:35 > 0:02:38I was just like you, Lily, when I was a little boy.

0:02:38 > 0:02:40I loved horses.

0:02:40 > 0:02:44I grew up here on the farm and we were very, very lucky,

0:02:44 > 0:02:47because we never knew life without horses.

0:02:47 > 0:02:50And I was very lucky to be able to do Pony Club Camp.

0:02:50 > 0:02:53We would go and camp on someone's farm

0:02:53 > 0:02:56or someone's ranch in the middle of nowhere

0:02:56 > 0:02:59and we would then look after our horses

0:02:59 > 0:03:01and play lots of games

0:03:01 > 0:03:03and see all our friends

0:03:03 > 0:03:04and have so much fun.

0:03:04 > 0:03:08This old film of Pony Club Camp is from Great Britain.

0:03:08 > 0:03:11These camps happen in all parts of the world,

0:03:11 > 0:03:15just like the ones Baba Bryn went to as a boy in Kenya.

0:03:17 > 0:03:19And then, Baba Bryn talked some more

0:03:19 > 0:03:23about how their family came to live on the farm.

0:03:30 > 0:03:34Grandpa George, a very long time ago, left Wales

0:03:34 > 0:03:37and he went all the way around the world,

0:03:37 > 0:03:40a very, very long way, and he ended up here,

0:03:40 > 0:03:44in East Africa, on the northern slopes of Mount Kenya,

0:03:44 > 0:03:49where he bought this beautiful farm where we live today.

0:03:49 > 0:03:51And he loved his horses.

0:03:51 > 0:03:55And he taught so many people how to ride.

0:03:58 > 0:04:02Let's go and meet one of the people that Lily's Great-grandpa George

0:04:02 > 0:04:05taught to ride a very long time ago.

0:04:08 > 0:04:10This is Rose.

0:04:10 > 0:04:11Jambo!

0:04:11 > 0:04:14Jambo means "hello" in Swahili.

0:04:16 > 0:04:19When Rose was a little girl like Lily,

0:04:19 > 0:04:22Great-grandpa George taught her to ride.

0:04:22 > 0:04:25Many years later, Rose taught Baba Bryn to ride

0:04:25 > 0:04:29and now she's teaching Lily, and Coco, too.

0:04:29 > 0:04:34Good. Right, Lily, leave your reins and hold your hands right out now.

0:04:35 > 0:04:38Because Lily and Coco are still learning to ride,

0:04:38 > 0:04:41they're being led by Henry and Josh,

0:04:41 > 0:04:44who work alongside Rose and the horses.

0:04:52 > 0:04:55Coco's pony is called Sandstorm.

0:05:02 > 0:05:05just like Baba Bryn and Mama Tara.

0:06:44 > 0:06:46Baba Bryn still loves to ride ponies

0:06:46 > 0:06:49and he loves to play a sport called polo.

0:06:52 > 0:06:56Polo is one of the oldest sports in the world.

0:06:56 > 0:07:01This very old picture shows people playing polo hundreds of years ago.

0:07:01 > 0:07:04Two teams of players ride on ponies.

0:07:04 > 0:07:07They have to hit a ball with a stick to score goals.

0:07:07 > 0:07:12The game can be very fast and the ponies love running and turning.

0:07:12 > 0:07:15Lily's Great-grandpa George used to play polo

0:07:15 > 0:07:17and so did her Grandpa Tim.

0:07:17 > 0:07:19Now, Baba Bryn plays polo, too.

0:07:51 > 0:07:55And also, Grandpa Tim played with that polo stick.

0:08:05 > 0:08:09It has the tape there so that the bottom area is protected.

0:08:09 > 0:08:12- And you see the stick is made from bamboo?- Yeah.

0:08:12 > 0:08:16And this was probably made in India a long, long time ago.

0:08:16 > 0:08:20And this one is now my stick.

0:08:20 > 0:08:23- And whose name has it got on it? - Baba.

0:08:23 > 0:08:27The stick has Baba's real name on it - it's Bryn.

0:08:27 > 0:08:30That's a Welsh name because, remember,

0:08:30 > 0:08:33Great-grandpa George came all the way from Wales.

0:08:33 > 0:08:37And then, whose polo stick is this?

0:08:37 > 0:08:41- My naughty sister's!- No way!- Yes!

0:08:41 > 0:08:43- And whose was it before?- Mine!

0:08:43 > 0:08:46- Shall we now look at the hats from a long time ago?- Yes.

0:08:46 > 0:08:52So, when Great-grandpa George and Grandpa Tim played polo,

0:08:54 > 0:08:56- Do you want to try it on?- Yeah.

0:08:58 > 0:09:01That is from a long, long time ago.

0:09:01 > 0:09:03- Is it comfy?- Yes.

0:09:05 > 0:09:07And this is Mama's hat.

0:09:15 > 0:09:17Because we're from Kenya, aren't we?

0:09:22 > 0:09:26- The most important part of polo is the horses, isn't it?- Yeah.

0:09:44 > 0:09:48This is where her Grandpa Tim used to play polo, too.

0:09:49 > 0:09:54Baba Bryn is in one team and Mama Tara is in the other.

0:09:54 > 0:09:57They're lining up for what's called a throw-in.

0:09:57 > 0:10:01Lily is going to throw the ball between the teams to start the game

0:10:01 > 0:10:04but Lily makes sure she stays at a safe distance.

0:10:04 > 0:10:10The teams are trying to hit the ball through the red goalposts.

0:11:15 > 0:11:18to have some polo fun of her own with her friends.
