0:00:16 > 0:00:23And, find out what this Star Wars super fan is making.

0:00:29 > 0:00:33The attacks that took place in Paris, on Friday November 13th,

0:00:33 > 0:00:37shocked the world.

0:00:37 > 0:00:41The people that claimed responsibility for these acts, call

0:00:41 > 0:00:44themselves Islamic State, or IS. But who are they?

0:00:44 > 0:00:46And what can, and should, the world do to stop them?

0:00:46 > 0:00:50That's the question now being asked here in the UK.

0:00:50 > 0:00:53IS are a group based in the Middle East, mainly in Iraq and Syria,

0:00:53 > 0:00:56who have extreme religious beliefs.

0:00:56 > 0:00:59They use brutal violence against anyone who doesn't agree

0:00:59 > 0:01:02with their views.

0:01:02 > 0:01:05They claim to follow the religion of Islam, but many people say their

0:01:05 > 0:01:08beliefs of hatred and violence have little to do with Islam and what

0:01:08 > 0:01:10the majority of Muslims believe.

0:01:10 > 0:01:14Since early 2014, IS has grown quickly - using

0:01:14 > 0:01:19the internet and social media to recruit followers and spread fear.

0:01:19 > 0:01:22They have been able to take over large parts of Syria

0:01:22 > 0:01:25and neighbouring Iraq, declaring this their own state -

0:01:25 > 0:01:30and punishing anyone who doesn't follow their strict rules.

0:01:30 > 0:01:33Lots of different groups are fighting in Syria, and nations

0:01:33 > 0:01:38around the world can't agree on who they want to control the country.

0:01:38 > 0:01:42What does unite most of the world is the desire to stop IS because

0:01:42 > 0:01:46of how violent their methods are.

0:01:46 > 0:01:50The UK has bombed Islamic State-controlled areas in

0:01:50 > 0:01:55Iraq but two years ago politicians voted against bombing in Syria.

0:01:55 > 0:01:58However, since IS have started attacking places around the world -

0:01:58 > 0:02:04like Paris - there is more pressure on the UK to stop them.

0:02:04 > 0:02:07Prime Minister David Cameron wants MPs to vote to decide

0:02:07 > 0:02:11whether or not the UK should start to bomb IS in Syria, and expects

0:02:11 > 0:02:13this to happen very soon.

0:02:13 > 0:02:16..is to address the threat we face

0:02:16 > 0:02:19and to do so now.

0:02:19 > 0:02:22Both France and the USA have already launched airstrikes in the country,

0:02:22 > 0:02:24but some feel that the bombs also affect too many

0:02:24 > 0:02:28innocent people living there, and that the UK shouldn't be involved.

0:02:28 > 0:02:31There's much more on the Newsround website about what's happening

0:02:31 > 0:02:35in Syria if you want to know more.

0:02:35 > 0:02:38A thick haze of smog has covered cities across northern China.

0:02:38 > 0:02:41Pollution levels are well above safe limits, so local authorities

0:02:41 > 0:02:44have given out warnings.

0:02:44 > 0:02:46The poisonous smog comes from coal burning in factories and homes.

0:02:46 > 0:02:50The pollution is so bad that some factories have had

0:02:50 > 0:02:54to stop work and heavy trucks have been banned from the roads.

0:02:54 > 0:02:56Large parts of South Africa have been declared

0:02:56 > 0:02:59drought disaster areas.

0:02:59 > 0:03:02The water shortages across the country, which is in the peak of

0:03:02 > 0:03:05summer, have been blamed on a lack of rain and an ongoing heat-wave.

0:03:05 > 0:03:08The worst affected are farmers who have been unable to harvest crops,

0:03:08 > 0:03:11or feed livestock.

0:03:11 > 0:03:15South Africans have been told to save water.
