:00:00. > :00:08.You're waking up to Newsround this Wednesday morning. On the way: Find

:00:09. > :00:13.out how your school could be saving the number of bees in Britain.

:00:14. > :00:20.And the tallest Ferris wheel in the world. This is Newsround.

:00:21. > :00:25.First, there are warnings of very high levels of air pollution across

:00:26. > :00:29.most of England and Wales over the next few days. Over the last few

:00:30. > :00:35.days, many people have found their cars covered in a mysterious layer

:00:36. > :00:38.of fine dust. The south of England, and parts of Wales and Northern

:00:39. > :00:42.Ireland have all been affected and in London the fine sand floating in

:00:43. > :00:46.the air has triggered one of the worst smogs of the year. But now

:00:47. > :00:49.it's set to spread further. It's all to do with the Sahara desert, as BBC

:00:50. > :00:55.weather presenter Peter Gibbs explains in this special weather

:00:56. > :00:59.report for Newsround. This mystery dust has been reported all over the

:01:00. > :01:02.UK at the last two or three days and it did actually come all the way

:01:03. > :01:08.from the Sahara desert. Over the weekend we had an area of low

:01:09. > :01:11.pressure, a storm, in the south-west of Europe which caused strong winds

:01:12. > :01:16.to develop over the north-west of Africa where the Sahara desert is,

:01:17. > :01:20.and it is just covered in dust and fine sand. The winds are strong

:01:21. > :01:24.enough to pick up the dust and sand which is of a yellow colour and lift

:01:25. > :01:30.it high into the atmosphere. It was transported by strong winds across

:01:31. > :01:34.Spain and France, and once it reached the UK he got mixed up with

:01:35. > :01:38.clouds, and the rain fell with the dust which brought it down to the

:01:39. > :01:41.ground, and when the rain evaporated we were left with the dust. It

:01:42. > :01:48.happens more often than you think that this was a particularly heavy

:01:49. > :01:51.fall. A powerful earthquake has hit off the coast of northern Chile in

:01:52. > :01:55.South America, triggering a tsunami alert. The quake happened overnight

:01:56. > :01:58.and waves as high as two meters hit some areas. Tens of thousands of

:01:59. > :02:01.people have been evacuated and a state of emergency has been

:02:02. > :02:04.declared. Five people have been killed. These pictures of traffic

:02:05. > :02:06.jams as people tried to leave were shown on Chilean TV.

:02:07. > :02:11.The road safety charity Brake is calling for a 20mph speed limit

:02:12. > :02:14.because they say it will keep kids safer on the roads. At the moment

:02:15. > :02:18.the speed limit in most villages towns and cities is 30 miles an

:02:19. > :02:21.hour. Some places where there are schools or lots of houses have a

:02:22. > :02:25.20mph speed limit in place already but the charity wants this to happen

:02:26. > :02:28.everywhere. They're heading to Parliament today to try and persuade

:02:29. > :02:33.MPs that the slower speed limit will save lives. The go 20 campaign is

:02:34. > :02:37.about making the streets safer for people to walk and cycle, so it's

:02:38. > :02:42.about protecting kids walking to school, going to the park, going to

:02:43. > :02:45.see their friends, and making sure that children and adults are not

:02:46. > :02:52.being knocked down and hurt by drivers going too fast. Let's get

:02:53. > :02:55.you some sport now and what could be a turnaround in Manchester United's

:02:56. > :02:58.fortunes this season. They managed to hold the reigning Champions

:02:59. > :03:01.Bayern Munich to a draw in the Champions League last night. Nemanja

:03:02. > :03:03.Vidic headed David Moyes' side into the lead before Bastian

:03:04. > :03:09.Schweinsteiger got Bayern a precious away goal. But he was later sent off

:03:10. > :03:12.and will miss the second leg in Germany. United boss David Moyes is

:03:13. > :03:19.still confident his side can pull off an upset next week. We will go

:03:20. > :03:24.toe to toe with them and try to come out on top. It is a tough tie, but

:03:25. > :03:28.we all believe we have a great chance of a competition, we really

:03:29. > :03:32.do. Our best football has been in this competition and we note we have

:03:33. > :03:34.to show our best football when we go to Bayern Munich next week.

:03:35. > :03:41.Last night's other quarterfinal also ended in a 1-1 draw. An absolute

:03:42. > :03:43.belter from Diego Ribas opened the scoring between Spanish giants

:03:44. > :03:47.Atletico Madrid and Barcelona after nearly an hour's play. But Neymar

:03:48. > :03:50.got one back later in the game to keep Barca in the tie.

:03:51. > :03:53.Chelsea will face the might of Zlatan Ibrahimovic in France tonight

:03:54. > :03:56.for their quarterfinal, against Paris St Germain. The French side

:03:57. > :03:59.look likely to win their second league title in a row, mainly thanks

:04:00. > :04:02.to the genius of the Swedish striker. We'll hear what Chelsea

:04:03. > :04:04.Jose Mourinho thinks about the Zlatan threat, in our next bulletin

:04:05. > :04:18.at 8:15am. The Heritage lottery fund will give

:04:19. > :04:24.over ?1 million to protect the UK bee population. They help pollinate

:04:25. > :04:28.crops that are at risk of extinction and money is being given to over 200

:04:29. > :04:32.schools to make their ground into Poland friendly spaces so that more

:04:33. > :04:36.attractive to the insects. Last up, the tallest Ferris wheel in the

:04:37. > :04:40.world has opened up in Las Vegas in America. It stands at an impressive

:04:41. > :04:44.168 meters tall. The wheel has 28 glass pods which can each hold up to

:04:45. > :04:50.40 people. But it won't be the tallest wheel for long. Two giant

:04:51. > :04:53.Ferris wheels are being built, one in New York City and another in

:04:54. > :04:57.Dubai in the Middle East. The Las Vegas High Roller is about 33 metres

:04:58. > :05:00.taller than the London Eye. That's all from me, Newsround's back right

:05:01. > :05:02.here in about half an hour.
