:00:00. > :00:08.Ricky here with your Newsround morning update. On the way: Find out

:00:09. > :00:18.how Bao Bao the giant panda cub spent her first day outside. And the

:00:19. > :00:21.tallest ferris wheel in the world. This is Newsround.

:00:22. > :00:26.First, there are warnings that very high levels of air pollution will

:00:27. > :00:30.spread across much of England and Wales over the next few days. This

:00:31. > :00:36.week many people have found their cars covered in a mysterious layer

:00:37. > :00:40.of fine dust. The South of England, and parts of Wales and Northern

:00:41. > :00:44.Ireland have all been affected, and in London the fine sand floating in

:00:45. > :00:48.the air has triggered one of the worst smogs of the year. It's all to

:00:49. > :00:50.do with the Sahara desert, as BBC Weather Presenter Peter Gibbs

:00:51. > :00:53.explains in this special weather report for Newsround.

:00:54. > :00:59.This mystery dust has been reported all over the UK at the last two or

:01:00. > :01:03.three days and it did actually come all the way from the Sahara desert.

:01:04. > :01:06.Over the weekend we had an area of low pressure, a storm, in the

:01:07. > :01:09.south-west of Europe which caused strong winds to develop over the

:01:10. > :01:15.north-west of Africa where the Sahara desert is, and it is just

:01:16. > :01:19.covered in dust and fine sand. The winds are strong enough to pick up

:01:20. > :01:30.the dust and sand which is of a yellow colour and lift it high into

:01:31. > :01:33.the atmosphere. It was transported by strong winds across Spain and

:01:34. > :01:37.France, and once it reached the UK, it got mixed up with clouds, and the

:01:38. > :01:41.rain fell with the dust which brought it down to the ground, and

:01:42. > :01:46.when the rain evaporated we were left with the dust. It happens more

:01:47. > :01:47.often than you thinkbut this was a particularly heavy fall.

:01:48. > :01:52.A powerful earthquake has hit off the coast of northern Chile in South

:01:53. > :01:56.America, triggering a tsunami alert. The quake happened overnight and

:01:57. > :02:00.waves as high as two meters hit some areas. Tens of thousands of people

:02:01. > :02:02.have been evacuated and a state of emergency has been declared. Five

:02:03. > :02:06.people have been killed. These pictures of traffic jams as people

:02:07. > :02:15.tried to leave were shown on Chilean TV. Next to what could be some good

:02:16. > :02:18.news for Britain's bees. The Heritage Lottery Fund says it will

:02:19. > :02:22.give over ?1 million to help schools do more to protect the country's bee

:02:23. > :02:25.population. Bees have a huge impact on us because they help pollinate

:02:26. > :02:29.crops like wheat and barley, as well as fruit trees. They're at risk of

:02:30. > :02:32.extinction and over 200 schools will be given money to make their grounds

:02:33. > :02:41.into pollinator-friendly spaces, so they're more attractive to the

:02:42. > :02:45.insects. Let's get you some sport now and what could be a turnaround

:02:46. > :02:48.in Manchester United's fortunes this season. They managed to hold the

:02:49. > :02:51.reigning Champions Bayern Munich to a draw in the Champions League last

:02:52. > :02:54.night. Nemanja Vidic headed David Moyes' side into the lead before

:02:55. > :02:58.Bastian Schweinsteiger got Bayern a precious away goal. But he was later

:02:59. > :03:01.sent off and will miss the second leg in Germany. Last night's other

:03:02. > :03:04.quarterfinal also ended in a one-all draw. This fantastic strike from

:03:05. > :03:06.Diego Ribas opened the scoring between Spanish giants Atletico

:03:07. > :03:11.Madrid and Barcelona after nearly an hour's play. But Neymar got one back

:03:12. > :03:16.later in the game to keep Barca in the tie. Chelsea will face the might

:03:17. > :03:19.of Zlatan Ibrahimovic in France tonight for their quarterfinal,

:03:20. > :03:23.against Paris St Germain. The French side look likely to win their second

:03:24. > :03:27.league title in a row, mainly thanks to the genius of the Swedish

:03:28. > :03:35.striker. Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho remembers Zlatan well, after

:03:36. > :03:39.managing him at Inter Milan. In one year the relationship was

:03:40. > :03:43.phenomenal, and when people say he is difficult personality, permit the

:03:44. > :03:47.difficult personalities of the players who do not want to win all

:03:48. > :03:59.work will be the best. He wants to win, work, the best. Fara

:04:00. > :04:04.Williams's single Happy has sold more than a million copies in the

:04:05. > :04:09.UK, and he has just been announced as a new judge on the US version of

:04:10. > :04:11.the Voice. He will sit in the famous chair when the show starts again in

:04:12. > :04:17.the year -- later in the year. Big wheel fans, I have a treat for

:04:18. > :04:21.you now. The tallest Ferris wheel in the world has opened in Las Vegas in

:04:22. > :04:25.America. It stands at an impressive 168 metres tall, about 33 metres

:04:26. > :04:28.taller than the London Eye. The wheel has 28 glass pods which can

:04:29. > :04:32.each hold up to 40 people. But it won't be the tallest wheel for long.

:04:33. > :04:34.Two giant Ferris wheels are being built, one in New York City, and

:04:35. > :04:42.another in Dubai in the Middle East. Finally, a giant panda cub called

:04:43. > :04:45.Bao Bao who lives in a zoo in Washington DC, America has spent its

:04:46. > :04:49.first day playing outside. Bao Bao tried out her climbing skills and

:04:50. > :04:51.sat on the grass with a piece of bamboo. Zookeepers also fitted

:04:52. > :04:55.barriers on trees to prevent the cub from climbing too high and put out

:04:56. > :04:58.bales of hay to cushion any falls. That's all from me, Newsround's back

:04:59. > :05:01.this afternoon. See ya!
