:00:00. > :00:16.You're live with me, Nel, and Newsround is on the way. I'll be

:00:17. > :00:20.finding out why it's all looking a bit hazy in the sky at the moment.

:00:21. > :00:30.It's the end of the road for Waterloo Road. First up air

:00:31. > :00:33.pollution and some of you might have noticed your hometown looking a

:00:34. > :00:37.little bit hazy today. That's because over the last couple of days

:00:38. > :00:40.some parts of England and Wales have experienced high or very high levels

:00:41. > :00:46.of pollution. Martin's been finding out more about where it's all come

:00:47. > :00:48.from. Today the pollution level is high... A murky morning in

:00:49. > :00:52.Leicester. A hazy skyline across London. Air pollution is on the up

:00:53. > :00:55.across England and Wales, reaching the very highest levels on the

:00:56. > :00:58.Government's air quality scale, hitting scores of eight, nine and

:00:59. > :01:02.even ten in parts of Norfolk. And it's hazy scenes like this one

:01:03. > :01:07.across Manchester that many of us are still seeing today. And here's

:01:08. > :01:10.why... Dust has been blown up towards the British Isles, from the

:01:11. > :01:13.Sahara desert in Northern Africa. It's combined with pollutants that

:01:14. > :01:17.have drifted across from factories in Europe and it's got mixed with

:01:18. > :01:23.emissions from cars and factories in the UK. On top of this there hasn't

:01:24. > :01:27.been much wind to blow it away and high pressure above us is acting

:01:28. > :01:32.like a giant saucepan lid, trapping all the pollutants. Forecasters say

:01:33. > :01:35.it's going to improve in the next few days and rain is expected to

:01:36. > :01:40.wash the pollutants out by the end of the week. So that's what's caused

:01:41. > :01:44.the increase in air pollution. But what does it mean for us? Martin's

:01:45. > :01:53.been speaking to scientist Dr Kimberley Leather, who's an expert

:01:54. > :01:57.on the earth's atmosphere. What is happening? These occurrences

:01:58. > :02:01.don't happen often. There's no need to worry or do anything different.

:02:02. > :02:06.Certain people may be more vulnerable, such as the elderly,

:02:07. > :02:10.people with asthma and people with heart and lung problems. The

:02:11. > :02:14.Government warned that they shouldn't do any hard exercise. How

:02:15. > :02:20.does the pollution here compared to other places around the world, like

:02:21. > :02:29.China? The worst-case scenario in the UK, places like Beijing can be

:02:30. > :02:32.up to five times worse. People in the South American country of Chile

:02:33. > :02:35.are returning to their homes after a powerful earthquake hit off the

:02:36. > :02:38.country's coast last night. It triggered power cuts and landslides.

:02:39. > :02:41.Waves over two metres in height were also reported. Six people were

:02:42. > :02:44.killed and thousands more had to leave their homes. These CCTV

:02:45. > :02:48.pictures from inside a supermarket show just how fierce the tremors

:02:49. > :02:51.were. Head to the website if there's anything in the news that upsets

:02:52. > :02:58.you, there's help and advice there as well as a guide to what causes

:02:59. > :03:01.earthquakes. Sports news, and Jose Mourinho's Chelsea side will face

:03:02. > :03:03.the might of Zlatan Ibrahimovic in France tonight for their Champions

:03:04. > :03:06.League quarterfinal, against Paris St Germain. The French side look

:03:07. > :03:10.likely to win their second League title in a row, mainly thanks to the

:03:11. > :03:13.genius of the Swedish striker. Chelsea boss Mourinho remembers

:03:14. > :03:21.Zlatan well, after managing him at Inter Milan. During one year of the

:03:22. > :03:26.relationship was phenomenal. When people say he is a kind of difficult

:03:27. > :03:29.personality, for me, the difficult personalities of the players that

:03:30. > :03:34.don't want to win, don't want to work, don't want to be the best. He

:03:35. > :03:40.wants to win, he wants to be the best. Next, could we soon be seeing

:03:41. > :03:43.robots patrolling the streets and fighting crime? Well a team of

:03:44. > :03:46.engineers in America has developed the Knightscope K5. It's about 1.5

:03:47. > :03:52.metres tall and is equipped with the latest technology, so it can detect

:03:53. > :03:57.when things go wrong. It's a very friendly and engaging robot. We have

:03:58. > :04:02.360 degrees cameras for surveillance, radiological, chemical

:04:03. > :04:06.and biological sensor detectors. We have number plate recognition,

:04:07. > :04:09.facial recognition and gestural recognition. If somebody is waiting

:04:10. > :04:16.at their hands laying on the ground where they shouldn't be, they pick

:04:17. > :04:20.an that and they can send queues. Sad news for Waterloo Road fans. The

:04:21. > :04:23.school gates are closing for good next year. The BBC has announced

:04:24. > :04:27.that the popular school drama will come to an end after its 10th

:04:28. > :04:31.series. TV bosses said they were "incredibly proud" of the show, but

:04:32. > :04:34.that it had "reached the end of its life cycle". Don't worry, though,

:04:35. > :04:37.there are still 20 episodes to go before a new drama takes its place.

:04:38. > :04:41.Finally, before you have your tea tonight make sure you head over to

:04:42. > :04:45.the Newsround website. You'll find snaps from some of the best wildlife

:04:46. > :04:48.photos captured in the UK. And you can see what happened when a dad

:04:49. > :04:52.turned his son into a superhero using some amazing special effects.

:04:53. > :04:58.More coming your way at 6.50pm when I'm back with Newsround. Bye!
