:00:41. > :00:53.There were huge celebrations when Qatar was picked to host

:00:54. > :00:58.It would be the first time the tournament would be played

:00:59. > :01:03.There are still eight years to go before the event, but building work

:01:04. > :01:06.has started on the stadiums and billions of pounds are being spent.

:01:07. > :01:10.Now there is a big row over whether the 2022 world cup should be

:01:11. > :01:14.Over the weekend a newspaper report alleged that

:01:15. > :01:18.the country may have won the right to host the tournament unfairly.

:01:19. > :01:22.The Sunday Times newspaper said it had secret documents that suggested

:01:23. > :01:26.Qatari football official, Mohamed Bin Hammam, paid lots

:01:27. > :01:30.of money to other officials in return for support for the bid.

:01:31. > :01:33.Qatar strongly denies doing anything wrong,

:01:34. > :01:38.saying Mr Bin Hammam didn't have any official role supporting the bid.

:01:39. > :01:46.So what happens if these allegations turn out to be true?

:01:47. > :01:53.We won't know for a few months yet if the allegations are correct. If

:01:54. > :02:00.they are proved to be it will be a huge story. Many people want to see

:02:01. > :02:05.the vote rerun. They want to do the whole process again. What we don't

:02:06. > :02:08.know is whether Qatar will be involved in that vote. The other

:02:09. > :02:11.nations who bid for the World Cup in 2022 Australia, the USA, South

:02:12. > :02:16.Korea, Japan or feel that they 2022 Australia, the USA, South

:02:17. > :02:18.to be involved and they might not want Qatar to be involved.

:02:19. > :02:21.Politicians and football chiefs, including the head of the FA,

:02:22. > :02:25.Greg Dyke, say they would support a re-vote if the allegations are true.

:02:26. > :02:27.Organisers in Qatar are meeting today with FIFA, the people behind

:02:28. > :02:33.Next, King Juan Carlos of Spain is giving up his throne.

:02:34. > :02:35.The announcement was made by the Spanish prime minister,

:02:36. > :02:40.King Carlos, who's 76, has ruled Spain for nearly 40 years

:02:41. > :02:43.and is known for helping the country form a democratic government.

:02:44. > :02:47.His son, Crown Prince Felipe, will take over his position.

:02:48. > :02:52.The King said he wanted to pass the crown onto a new generation.

:02:53. > :02:55.Sticking with royalty, 61 years ago today, the Queen was

:02:56. > :02:59.The Queen was 27-years-old at the time of her coronation and
