:00:21. > :00:27.Happy new year from all of us at Team Newsround. The year is 2012

:00:27. > :00:30.and we are back on your box. Yep, Ore and Hayley with you tonight. It

:00:30. > :00:33.may be the new year but we're not slacking off - we've got everything

:00:33. > :00:38.you need to know. Coming up: We're trying to solve the mystery

:00:38. > :00:41.of what on earth the moon is made And there could be a crackdown on

:00:41. > :00:49.which music videos you're allowed to watch.

:00:49. > :00:53.But before any of that, the news of the extreme weather. So far, one

:00:53. > :01:00.person has died as winds of up to 100 miles an hour have been causing

:01:00. > :01:04.havoc up and down the UK. This winter, it seems to be all about

:01:04. > :01:10.the wind. Conditions here on the north Cornwall coast, absolutely

:01:10. > :01:13.atrocious. Looking behind us, you can see the force of the wind.

:01:13. > :01:18.reports on the extreme weather have been coming in all day as severe

:01:18. > :01:23.weather makes its way across the UK. Speeds of 90 mph have been reported

:01:23. > :01:27.in some areas, triggering the Met Office to issue a red warning. That

:01:27. > :01:31.is the high as possible, and it is because of high winds causing chaos

:01:31. > :01:36.across Britain. Fallen trees and flooding have close roads, bridges

:01:36. > :01:41.and railway lines. In Dover, the port has been forced to shout and

:01:41. > :01:46.in St Helens, part of the roof of the rugby stadium has been torn off.

:01:46. > :01:49.This Christmas tree was blown down in a square in Glasgow, and strong

:01:49. > :01:54.winds have caused structural damage to several buildings in the city.

:01:54. > :01:58.In Salford, it is pretty windy. What is going to happen next? The

:01:58. > :02:02.winds will ease off in central Scotland but will continue to be

:02:02. > :02:07.strongly across the rest of the UK until tonight. Tomorrow, we can

:02:07. > :02:10.expect strong winds but not as gusty as they have been today.

:02:10. > :02:16.Despite what you may have been told when you were much younger, the

:02:16. > :02:19.moon is not made of cheese! What the moon really is made off is

:02:19. > :02:29.still a bit of a mystery, so space agency NASA have launched two new

:02:29. > :02:31.

:02:31. > :02:34.spacecrafts on a mission to find 3, 2, 1, zero and lift off.

:02:34. > :02:37.Man's 110th mission to the moon. Back in September, NASA launched

:02:37. > :02:40.two satellites and last weekend, they finally arrived. With the

:02:40. > :02:45.probes now orbiting the moon, the hard work begins using gravity to

:02:45. > :02:50.figure out exactly what lies beneath the surface. When you throw

:02:50. > :02:54.something up, it's gravity that pulls it back down. Like the earth,

:02:54. > :02:58.the moon has gravity too. And scientists hope that by studying it,

:02:58. > :03:02.they can answer some very important questions. The two probes will fly

:03:02. > :03:05.around the moon in a straight line. As they go, they'll measure how the

:03:05. > :03:12.moon's gravity changes and that will help scientists figure out how

:03:12. > :03:17.the moon formed, and why it looks like it does. What are we hoping to

:03:17. > :03:21.get out of this mission? One of the key things we hope to discover is

:03:21. > :03:26.where the moon came from. We are still not really sure. Our best

:03:26. > :03:30.idea is that soon after the birth was formed, a planet the size of

:03:30. > :03:38.Mars crashed into the earth, and it rip out a huge chunk of the Earth,

:03:38. > :03:41.that went into space and form to our men. -- R Moon. At 200,000

:03:41. > :03:44.miles away the moon is our closest neighbour, but scientists have a

:03:44. > :03:47.lot of work to do before they solve its mysteries.

:03:47. > :03:50.When you're done with your dinner, you chuck your leftovers away,

:03:50. > :03:53.right? Not the case if you're a celebrity on a trip to the seaside

:03:53. > :03:57.in Cornwall, where one cafe has turned its famous crumbs into a

:03:57. > :04:00.mini museum. Watch this! Welcome to the Museum of Celebrity

:04:00. > :04:03.Leftovers - the place where scraps from famous visitors are never

:04:03. > :04:05.scraped into the bin. Cafe owner, Michael Bennett, decided to

:04:05. > :04:08.preserve the crusts and crumbs of his celebrity customers in airtight

:04:08. > :04:14.jars, and the display has been attracting visitors for almost

:04:14. > :04:17.eight years. There's some bread pudding left by Prince Charles, an

:04:17. > :04:27.egg shell from actor Hugh Dennis' egg mayo sandwich and even a cheese

:04:27. > :04:32.

:04:32. > :04:36.toastie from singer, Pete Doherty. As far as we know, no one else has

:04:36. > :04:40.done it. We are very proud of the fact we thought of it and have done

:04:40. > :04:44.it and all these famous people have been to a very small and unknown

:04:44. > :04:48.cafe in Cornwall. Worth a trip if you are down there. Weird!

:04:48. > :04:53.The year 2012 is finally here, and it's going to be an absolute corker.

:04:53. > :04:57.Here's me to tell you why! You have celebrated the new year,

:04:57. > :05:04.you have pack your Christmas decorations away. The fun is over,

:05:04. > :05:09.right? Wrong. 2012 will be an amazing year, and here his wife. In

:05:09. > :05:14.February, the X Factor finalists kick-off their UK tour -- here is

:05:14. > :05:19.why. Winning the show doesn't always mean big success. Find out

:05:19. > :05:24.how little nicks do. Hold on to your wizard hats because Harry

:05:24. > :05:32.Potter is being opened up to the public. The books and films may

:05:32. > :05:37.have finished but the website opens this year. The Queen's Diamond

:05:37. > :05:42.Jubilee is this year. Starting on 2nd June, there will be a four-day

:05:42. > :05:46.holiday. Expects street parties and lots and lots of flag-waving.

:05:46. > :05:52.If you are not into sport, may I recommend a three-month some

:05:52. > :05:57.holiday to Mars. June, July and August will be sport crazy. Euro

:05:57. > :06:01.2012 is in Poland and Ukraine. After their terrible performance

:06:01. > :06:05.aboard Cup, can England do it? Let's hope nothing like this

:06:05. > :06:11.happens again. Apparently, the Olympics are happening this year.

:06:11. > :06:15.The biggest sporting event on earth starts on 27th July, and the

:06:15. > :06:20.Paralympics on 29th August. Jessica, Chris and the rest of Team GB will

:06:20. > :06:24.be going for gold, and how about another 100 metre world record for

:06:24. > :06:29.Usain Bolt? If you are going on a holiday to Mars, look out for the

:06:29. > :06:32.curiosity Rover, due to touch down on the red planet in August. In

:06:32. > :06:37.November, all eyes will be on America for the presidential

:06:37. > :06:41.elections. Four years ago, Barack Obama was voted in promising big

:06:41. > :06:44.changes, but a lot of people don't think he has done enough. Can he

:06:44. > :06:48.win a second term? They are saving the biggest film

:06:48. > :06:52.event of the year to the final month. The Hobbit will hit our

:06:52. > :06:57.screens. Expect a lot of excitement about this next instalment from

:06:57. > :07:07.Middle Earth. All that to look forward to, and

:07:07. > :07:17.more, and it is covered here on Newsround.

:07:17. > :07:19.

:07:19. > :07:22.No problem! It is a Paktika! Let's talk music videos now and a

:07:22. > :07:25.clampdown on the ones you're allowed to watch. Rihanna and Lady

:07:25. > :07:29.Gaga might be two of your favourite singers, but there's a worry that

:07:29. > :07:31.videos like their's are too grown up. So much so, that Prime Minister

:07:31. > :07:34.David Cameron's calling music bosses to Downing Street to change

:07:34. > :07:44.age ratings for certain stars. All day, we've been asking you what you

:07:44. > :07:51.

:07:51. > :07:54.The fun must come to an end and that is us done here on CBBC on BBC
