0:02:16 > 0:02:19Let's look at some football and after Christmas and New Year,

0:02:19 > 0:02:22Chelsea are still top of the Premier League.

0:02:22 > 0:02:24Liverpool missed the chance to go ahead of them

0:02:24 > 0:02:28after Jermain Defoe scored two penalties to give Sunderland a 2-2

0:02:28 > 0:02:33draw at the Stadium of Light.

0:02:33 > 0:02:35Manchester City are third after beating Burnley 3-1 with this

0:02:38 > 0:02:41Fernandinho got sent off during the match and afterwards

0:02:41 > 0:02:45the manager Pep Guardiola seemed pretty fed up.

0:02:45 > 0:02:47What was your view of the red card for Fernandinho?

0:02:47 > 0:02:49You are the journalist, not me.

0:02:49 > 0:02:51You're the manager, I'm sure the fans would like to know.

0:02:51 > 0:02:53Ask the referee, not me.

0:02:53 > 0:02:55You don't seem that happy that you've won.

0:02:55 > 0:02:57More than you believe.

0:02:57 > 0:02:59More than you believe, I'm happy.

0:02:59 > 0:03:01You aren't showing it.

0:03:01 > 0:03:02I'm so happy, believe me, I'm so happy.

0:03:02 > 0:03:06Happy New Year.

0:03:06 > 0:03:10Now some experts say we're eating half the sugar we should have

0:03:10 > 0:03:13all day before we've even got to lunch!

0:03:13 > 0:03:16Public Health England says breakfasts like sugary cereals

0:03:16 > 0:03:20and juices are to blame.

0:03:20 > 0:03:23Here in the UK, wearing glasses to help you see and read

0:03:23 > 0:03:24is perfectly normal.

0:03:24 > 0:03:26But for young children in poor parts of India,

0:03:26 > 0:03:29getting help with eye problems is very difficult.

0:03:29 > 0:03:33Now a new scheme is trying to change that.

0:03:33 > 0:03:37This is a part of Northern India called Uttar Pradesh.

0:03:37 > 0:03:40It's very large and many people here are poor.

0:03:40 > 0:03:45Going to school and learning is a way out of poverty

0:03:45 > 0:03:47for children in the area, but sometimes something incredibly

0:03:47 > 0:03:50simple gets in the way.

0:03:50 > 0:03:54Children with bad eyesight are not able to follow lessons at school,

0:03:54 > 0:03:58and because the area is so poor they are unable to get glasses

0:03:58 > 0:04:01or the help they need.

0:04:01 > 0:04:04TRANSLATION: I feel upset when I cannot study, which I love.

0:04:04 > 0:04:07Because my eyes hurt when I try to read for more than an hour,

0:04:07 > 0:04:10my interest in studying is also dwindling.

0:04:10 > 0:04:12There is only one eye hospital in the region and some parents

0:04:12 > 0:04:16cannot afford to take the children there.

0:04:16 > 0:04:18But help is at hand.

0:04:18 > 0:04:21This is the Orbis Vision Van.

0:04:21 > 0:04:24A mobile one-stop shop to help children with vision problems.

0:04:24 > 0:04:28They are doing the first ever eye tests at schools in the region.

0:04:28 > 0:04:32The chart they use is so simple, one letter that gets

0:04:32 > 0:04:34smaller and smaller.

0:04:34 > 0:04:36You just have to show which way the letter is pointing,

0:04:36 > 0:04:40so children can take the test even if they can't read yet.

0:04:40 > 0:04:44TRANSLATION: It was an E on the chart but it was blurry.

0:04:44 > 0:04:47I felt anxious when I could not read from the chart clearly.

0:04:47 > 0:04:50I'm not sure why, but I felt so.

0:04:50 > 0:04:54Suhatee can now get her eyes examined and measured for glasses.

0:04:54 > 0:04:58Sehrish also had problems with her vision, but she was able

0:04:58 > 0:05:01to get help at the van and has now had her specs for two months.

0:05:01 > 0:05:04When she grows up she now wants to be an eye doctor.

0:05:04 > 0:05:07TRANSLATION: Before I would copy the notes down from my friends.

0:05:07 > 0:05:09But now, my friends tell me that you don't need

0:05:09 > 0:05:11to copy notes from us.

0:05:11 > 0:05:14In fact some of them copy the notes I take down nowadays.

0:05:14 > 0:05:16Meanwhile Suhatee and her school friend Kajan have chosen

0:05:16 > 0:05:20their new specs and are excited to show them off.

0:05:20 > 0:05:22TRANSLATION: I was really happy when I got my glasses.

0:05:22 > 0:05:26TRANSLATION: Even I felt really happy to get my glasses.

0:05:26 > 0:05:29Glasses here give these girls the chance to learn and get

0:05:29 > 0:05:30jobs when they're older.

0:05:30 > 0:05:34The first Vision Van has been so successful that a second

0:05:34 > 0:05:36one has been launched, and the future is looking a little

0:05:36 > 0:05:40clearer for these kids.

0:05:40 > 0:05:42Finally, imagine living at the top of this street.

0:05:42 > 0:05:45It's been named the world's steepest residential road.

0:05:45 > 0:05:48Baldwin Street in New Zealand is so steep that walking

0:05:48 > 0:05:52to the top isn't an easy task.

0:05:52 > 0:05:56Spare a thought for the local postman!

0:05:56 > 0:05:58That's all from me, Newsround's back at 4.20pm.
