:00:08. > :00:17.Coming up: We find out what may have caused a 30 foot sinkhole that
:00:18. > :00:22.swallowed up a car. And the British ace is serving up a historic win in
:00:23. > :00:26.the Davis Cup. But first, we're talking about the
:00:27. > :00:30.World Cup of tennis: the Davis Cup. Last night, British fans were
:00:31. > :00:33.celebrating a historic win as Andy Murray beat his American opponent
:00:34. > :00:38.Sam Querrey - the first time Britain has won a tie against the USA for 78
:00:39. > :00:41.years. Andy and the British team are now through to the quarterfinals of
:00:42. > :00:45.the competition in Italy. But what is the Davis Cup, and why is this
:00:46. > :00:56.win so special? Nel's been on court to find out more.
:00:57. > :01:02.So, what is the Davis Cup? Well, unlike Wimbledon, you play for your
:01:03. > :01:07.country. The first ever Davis Cup tournament was played between Great
:01:08. > :01:12.Britain and America, and that was over 100 years ago. Now, 130 nations
:01:13. > :01:17.compete, making it the world's largest annual international team
:01:18. > :01:23.competition in sport. The best countries each year make up the
:01:24. > :01:32.world group. The rest of the country 's move down to groups one to four,
:01:33. > :01:37.where they stay unless they can move up or down, depending on whether
:01:38. > :01:44.they win or lose. What has been the secret to the British team's recent
:01:45. > :01:49.success? Four years ago, the Davis Cup team were in turmoil, but then
:01:50. > :01:53.Leon Smith took over as the new coach. Since then, he's been
:01:54. > :01:59.prolific, winning eight out of nine matches, bringing in 11 different
:02:00. > :02:02.players. He has turned it around, and now Great Britain are on the
:02:03. > :02:08.verge of big things in the Davis Cup. They could even win it. Murray
:02:09. > :02:14.and the team face a tough task when they play Italy in April, but Murray
:02:15. > :02:22.hasn't lost a Davis Cup matches since 2005. With this new-found
:02:23. > :02:26.belief, who knows how far the way? Imagine waking up in the morning to
:02:27. > :02:29.find a 30 foot hole in your front garden, and your family car gone.
:02:30. > :02:34.Well, a family in High Wycombe in Buckinghamshire had an unbelievable
:02:35. > :02:41.start to their day. This is what Phil and Liz Conran cup
:02:42. > :02:48.to this. An enormous hole in their driveway. It is 30 feet deep, and at
:02:49. > :02:52.the bottom of it is one of their cars. Experts say the reason this
:02:53. > :02:57.happened was all the rain we have been having, which washed the earth
:02:58. > :03:01.away from underneath the tarmac. Sinkholes like this one are rare in
:03:02. > :03:06.this country. But we wanted to find out more about how they happen, so
:03:07. > :03:11.here's the science behind it! This is the rainwater. It falls down
:03:12. > :03:15.and it has a bit of acid in it as it moves through the soil. Then it hits
:03:16. > :03:21.Rock which is like chalk or limestone, and that dissolves away.
:03:22. > :03:26.That creates these cavities under the ground, which gets bigger and
:03:27. > :03:28.bigger. Once they reach the surface, the whole thing collapses
:03:29. > :03:31.in. And Professor Stewart will be
:03:32. > :03:34.exploring underground caverns in tonight's Horizon programme, which
:03:35. > :03:36.is all about sinkholes. It's on at 9pm, but it's repeated on Thursday
:03:37. > :03:39.at 7pm. Sport now, and tonight sees a
:03:40. > :03:42.star-studded night of football, as the Premier League's big spenders
:03:43. > :03:46.Manchester City and Chelsea go head to head. Man City are the favourites
:03:47. > :03:49.going into the match. So far, Manuel Pellegrini's team have won every
:03:50. > :03:57.home game this season, scoring a massive 42 goals in the process. BBC
:03:58. > :04:04.Sport's John Watson told us just how important this match is.
:04:05. > :04:10.Huge. Everybody thinks the winners of the Premier League are going to
:04:11. > :04:13.come out of Arsenal, Manchester City and Chelsea. The fact that
:04:14. > :04:18.Manchester City and Chelsea are playing each other is significant.
:04:19. > :04:23.You have Chelsea, with all of their millions, who are scoring goals for
:04:24. > :04:26.fun. It's going to be a huge match, and may determine who wins As
:04:27. > :04:28.always, there's plenty of good stuff over on the website.
:04:29. > :04:31.The league. JK Rowling has revealed in an
:04:32. > :04:35.interview that she's not sure she came up with the best ending for the
:04:36. > :04:39.books. You can tell us what you reckon about this on the website -
:04:40. > :04:42.but be warned, there are spoilers! Before we go, fancy seeing this
:04:43. > :04:46.building in Germany get demolished? Yeah, you do. The tower was built
:04:47. > :04:48.back in 1972 but was knocked down to make way for two new office
:04:49. > :04:53.buildings. Around 30,000 people gathered in Frankfurt to see the
:04:54. > :04:57.university tower get blown up. It's the tallest building ever demolished
:04:58. > :04:59.in Europe. That's it. Newsround's back at
