0:00:15 > 0:00:17Cristiano Ronaldo.

0:00:17 > 0:00:20The Real Madrid star did not disappoint last night,

0:00:20 > 0:00:22scoring a hat-trick in the first Champions League semi-final match

0:00:22 > 0:00:23against Atletico Madrid.

0:00:23 > 0:00:29Watch this.

0:00:30 > 0:00:32COMMENTATOR: And there's the first goal, and who else

0:00:32 > 0:00:35but the king of the Bernabeu, Cristiano Ronaldo?!

0:00:35 > 0:00:37101st goal in the Champions League.

0:00:37 > 0:00:39It's off Godin, Ronaldo...

0:00:47 > 0:00:50And Cristiano Ronaldo does it again.

0:00:50 > 0:00:53Back-to-back hat-tricks in back-to-back Champions League games.

0:00:59 > 0:01:01Well, if footy's not your thing, how about cricket?

0:01:01 > 0:01:05The new England captain, Joe Root, is on a mission to inspire more

0:01:05 > 0:01:08of you guys to take it up, and he's starting with the kids

0:01:08 > 0:01:09at his old school in Yorkshire.

0:01:09 > 0:01:10I went to watch.

0:01:10 > 0:01:13Captain Joe Root first played for England in 2012,

0:01:13 > 0:01:17became England's vice captain in 2015, and has now scored more

0:01:17 > 0:01:21Test runs than any other batsman in the world.

0:01:22 > 0:01:24This is his old primary school, and he's about to surprise

0:01:24 > 0:01:26the students at their assembly.

0:01:26 > 0:01:31CHEERING.

0:01:32 > 0:01:36He even got involved in a little team sport.

0:01:38 > 0:01:41He walked into this room and I was amazed.

0:01:41 > 0:01:44None of us were kind of expecting it.

0:01:44 > 0:01:47It was just like a miracle that he just walked into the room.

0:01:47 > 0:01:50Then it was time to get a cricket lesson.

0:01:50 > 0:01:51What's it like to be back?

0:01:51 > 0:01:52It's brilliant.

0:01:52 > 0:01:54I had a look round the school.

0:01:54 > 0:01:56I found I made some brilliant friends through sport,

0:01:56 > 0:01:58whether it be at school or away from it.

0:01:58 > 0:02:00Hopefully that still happens with these guys here.

0:02:00 > 0:02:02That's it, there you go.

0:02:02 > 0:02:04It is quite difficult to watch cricket nowadays, though,

0:02:04 > 0:02:06without having to pay a bit of money.

0:02:06 > 0:02:09Do you think that's affected the game and what should change?

0:02:09 > 0:02:12I think it might have had a slight effect on the game.

0:02:12 > 0:02:15I think that the coverage that we have had has been fantastic.

0:02:15 > 0:02:19Of course, it would be ideally available for everyone.

0:02:19 > 0:02:21Who knows what's going to happen in the future?

0:02:21 > 0:02:25Why should kids in the UK take up cricket?

0:02:25 > 0:02:27I think it's great fun.

0:02:27 > 0:02:29I've loved it from being a kid here.

0:02:29 > 0:02:31You're outside, you're part of something bigger

0:02:31 > 0:02:35than just your own success, and for me that's really special.

0:02:35 > 0:02:37Yeah, we've just been playing with Joe, so it's like,

0:02:37 > 0:02:40it's a really inspiring to see that someone from the school has gone

0:02:40 > 0:02:44somewhere really special.

0:02:44 > 0:02:47I've learned how to hit the bat with more power,

0:02:47 > 0:02:52and how to catch better when you're a fielder.

0:02:52 > 0:02:56You have do show a lot of respect to others and also work the hardest.

0:02:56 > 0:03:00It shows how far you can go when you train and train as hard

0:03:00 > 0:03:03as you can, and just keep on doing your best.

0:03:03 > 0:03:05Hands up who's been inspired today, who's going to be

0:03:05 > 0:03:06a cricketer in the future?

0:03:06 > 0:03:08Awesome!

0:03:09 > 0:03:11The Prime Minister, Theresa May, is due to meet the Queen

0:03:11 > 0:03:12at Buckingham Palace today.

0:03:12 > 0:03:15It marks the official start of the campaign for the big vote

0:03:15 > 0:03:18that's taking place on the 8th of June, called a general election.

0:03:18 > 0:03:21All 650 Members of parliament in the House of Commons no longer

0:03:21 > 0:03:25have their jobs as MPs, as new ones are voted in next month

0:03:25 > 0:03:28- something that's known as "dissolving Parliament".

0:03:28 > 0:03:30You can read more about what the dissolution

0:03:30 > 0:03:34of Parliament means, in our guide at Newsround online.

0:03:35 > 0:03:39Well, a time when you don't want anything to dissolve is when you're

0:03:39 > 0:03:41fitting the last piece of a mega underwater tunnel -

0:03:41 > 0:03:42using a mega crane.

0:03:42 > 0:03:44Watch this.

0:03:45 > 0:03:47This is no ordinary crane...

0:03:47 > 0:03:51But then again, this is no ordinary tunnel.

0:03:51 > 0:03:57It will form part of the giant Hong Kong Zhuhai-Macau Bridge

0:03:57 > 0:04:00project, which will connect three major regions on the Chinese coast.

0:04:00 > 0:04:02At 50 kilometers long, the sea bridge will be

0:04:02 > 0:04:06the longest in the world.

0:04:06 > 0:04:08To build the tunnel, the mega crane needs to drop

0:04:08 > 0:04:11the last section of concrete into the sea from a giant barge.

0:04:11 > 0:04:14The walls are made from steel sandwiched by extra strong concrete,

0:04:14 > 0:04:18each weighing 6,000 tons - that's about the same

0:04:18 > 0:04:21as 1000 elephants!

0:04:21 > 0:04:24Then divers in the water will help make sure that the piece goes

0:04:24 > 0:04:27in exactly the right place.

0:04:27 > 0:04:30They'll also help with clearing seaweed and shells

0:04:30 > 0:04:32from the joint surfaces.

0:04:32 > 0:04:36The giant project is set to be finished by the end of the year -

0:04:36 > 0:04:39we'll SEA then if all the pieces of the puzzle fit together.

0:04:42 > 0:04:45That's all for now, Newsround's back here in half an hour with more

0:04:45 > 0:04:47on the Cheese Rolling Championship.

0:04:47 > 0:04:49It's BRIE-lliant - I promise you!

0:04:52 > 0:04:52Dreadful

0:04:52 > 0:04:55Dreadful joke!

0:04:55 > 0:04:56Dreadful joke! Bye-bye.

0:05:09 > 0:05:12And so I said, there are three types of people in the world -

0:05:12 > 0:05:14those who can count and those who can't.

0:05:14 > 0:05:16Do you get it?!
