0:00:03 > 0:00:06Hi, I'm Martin with all the news that you need to know about

0:00:06 > 0:00:08this Friday afternoon.

0:00:08 > 0:00:10Coming up on today's Newsround:

0:00:10 > 0:00:14The difference between boys and girls going to university.

0:00:14 > 0:00:24Plus, how this lonely rescue dog's getting a taste of the high life.

0:00:25 > 0:00:27First, to Paris in France, where flooding has caused

0:00:27 > 0:00:30one of the most famous museums in the world to close today,

0:00:30 > 0:00:33so staff can move the works of art to protect them.

0:00:33 > 0:00:36Heavy rain has caused dangerous conditions across

0:00:36 > 0:00:41France, Germany and other European countries.

0:00:41 > 0:00:43This is the view of much of France from the sky.

0:00:43 > 0:00:46Six weeks' worth of rain has fallen in just three days.

0:00:46 > 0:00:51It's flooded thousands of homes and businesses.

0:00:51 > 0:00:55In Paris, the River Seine, which runs through the city, is

0:00:55 > 0:00:57six metres above its former level.

0:00:57 > 0:01:00The famous Louvre Museum, which is home to the Mona Lisa

0:01:00 > 0:01:03painting and right next to the river, had to close today.

0:01:03 > 0:01:06That was so that they could move the art to higher ground.

0:01:06 > 0:01:09Train lines that run near the river in Paris have been closed.

0:01:09 > 0:01:12Tourist boats have been banned from sailing on the river.

0:01:12 > 0:01:17The French Open tennis grand slam tournament,

0:01:17 > 0:01:20which is taking place in Paris, has been hit by rain delays

0:01:20 > 0:01:24and could have to extend into a third week.

0:01:24 > 0:01:27And in just a week's time the country will host the Euros.

0:01:27 > 0:01:29But it's not just France that's been badly affected.

0:01:29 > 0:01:35In a part of Germany called Bavaria, water levels rose

0:01:35 > 0:01:36storey of buildings.

0:01:36 > 0:01:38Ten people in Germany have died because of

0:01:38 > 0:01:40the flooding in the past week.

0:01:40 > 0:01:43The problem that rescue teams now have is that the ground is now

0:01:43 > 0:01:44unable to absorb any more water.

0:01:44 > 0:01:46That's because there has been so much rain.

0:01:46 > 0:01:51And there is more rain forecast across Europe over the weekend.

0:01:51 > 0:01:56How much pocket money do you get, and do you think it should be more?

0:01:56 > 0:01:59Research released today says that boys are given 12 percent more

0:01:59 > 0:02:00spending cash than girls.

0:02:00 > 0:02:00According to the study,

0:02:00 > 0:02:04boys aged between eight and 15 receive an average

0:02:04 > 0:02:09of ?6.93 a week, while girls get 77p less.

0:02:09 > 0:02:11Some experts think it could be

0:02:11 > 0:02:17because boys are more likely to complain and ask for more.

0:02:17 > 0:02:20But while the boys are beating the girls when it comes to

0:02:20 > 0:02:23pocket money, the same can't be said about this next subject - education.

0:02:23 > 0:02:27University is a place people go to learn about subjects they enjoy,

0:02:27 > 0:02:35and many hope it will help them find better jobs when they finish.

0:02:35 > 0:02:38But a new survey suggests that by the age of 13, many more girls

0:02:38 > 0:02:41think going university is a good idea than boys.

0:02:41 > 0:02:42Here's what you think.

0:02:42 > 0:02:45A lot of girls in school nowadays work harder than boys generally.

0:02:45 > 0:02:50If you don't go to university, your job, there is, like, limitations.

0:02:50 > 0:02:54There's only certain jobs you can do without a degree.

0:02:54 > 0:02:57So many girls want to go to university because it

0:02:57 > 0:03:01depends on what they want to do in the future.

0:03:01 > 0:03:03Like, I want to do football coaching in college,

0:03:03 > 0:03:07but if I have to go to university to get my job, then I'll go there.

0:03:07 > 0:03:09My teachers encourage me to go to university

0:03:09 > 0:03:13because they are telling me to excel in my learning and to get

0:03:13 > 0:03:15me a better career path.

0:03:15 > 0:03:18Tennis news now and Andy Murray is battling Stan Wawrinka

0:03:18 > 0:03:20for a place in the French Open final.

0:03:20 > 0:03:22He's currently two sets up.

0:03:22 > 0:03:23On the women's side,

0:03:23 > 0:03:26world number one Serena Williams is through to the finals.

0:03:26 > 0:03:29She'll be aiming to win her 22nd Grand Slam in the final

0:03:29 > 0:03:32tomorrow, where she faces Spain's Garbine Muguruza

0:03:32 > 0:03:35The two last played each other in the Wimbledon final

0:03:35 > 0:03:38last year, which Serena won.

0:03:38 > 0:03:41Next, a real life wags to riches tale.

0:03:41 > 0:03:44When rescue dog Freya was taken in by a shelter as a stray,

0:03:44 > 0:03:46the staff thought her friendly and loving personality

0:03:46 > 0:03:52would earn her an owner in no time.

0:03:52 > 0:03:54But six years later, and after meeting more

0:03:54 > 0:03:56than 18,000 potential new families, she was still waiting

0:03:56 > 0:03:57for her forever home.

0:03:57 > 0:03:59Now her fortunes have taken a turn for the better,

0:03:59 > 0:04:02after Hollywood bosses have decided she's perfect for a role

0:04:02 > 0:04:05in the new Transformers film!

0:04:05 > 0:04:08Freya's due to start filming in the UK this summer.

0:04:08 > 0:04:13I love a happy ending!

0:04:13 > 0:04:16Now watch very closely, because someone's about to take a fall...

0:04:16 > 0:04:16Ooft!

0:04:16 > 0:04:18Did you see it?

0:04:18 > 0:04:20A poor panda had a bit of a tumble

0:04:20 > 0:04:23when the branch he was climbing on snapped right off!

0:04:23 > 0:04:25His keeper at the conservation centre where he lives

0:04:25 > 0:04:28in Ya'an City, China, rushed out to check on him,

0:04:28 > 0:04:30and don't worry - the little guy was absolutely fine.

0:04:30 > 0:04:33Maybe a bit embarrassed though.

0:04:33 > 0:04:36Just enough time to tell you what's good online.

0:04:36 > 0:04:38Or perhaps I should say, "pointy finger,

0:04:38 > 0:04:42computer screen, thumbs up!"

0:04:42 > 0:04:45Because today the Newsround website's got some big emoji news.

0:04:45 > 0:04:47Head online to find out about the 72 new emojis

0:04:47 > 0:04:50that are due to be released later this month.
