:00:00. > :00:00.Morning guys, Ricky here with your Monday Newsround.

:00:00. > :00:23.And we are at Wimbledon to serve up some tennis treats.

:00:24. > :00:26.Yes, guys, it's one of the world's biggest tennis tournaments and it's

:00:27. > :00:32.This morning we're going Wimbledon-tastic, and Ayshah

:00:33. > :00:48.How you said that volcano name, I have no idea! We are here at

:00:49. > :00:51.Wimbledon, it is the first day. You might be able to hear the lawn mower

:00:52. > :00:55.was giving behind me, the grass getting cut for the last time before

:00:56. > :01:00.the players, to the court, otherwise it is a bit quiet, there are not

:01:01. > :01:04.many people but there are thousands of tennis fans just waiting and

:01:05. > :01:10.lining up to come on in and see some great tennis. That is one fact about

:01:11. > :01:12.Wimbledon but here are plenty more with quickly.

:01:13. > :01:15.So this year at Wimbledon there will be 674 matches played.

:01:16. > :01:19.And if one match was played a day, it would last for over two years.

:01:20. > :01:23.Over 54,000 tennis balls will be used during the tournament.

:01:24. > :01:32.The longest ever match at Wimbledon was in 2010.

:01:33. > :01:36.It lasted 11 hours and five minutes, over three days.

:01:37. > :01:40.And as a treat the players were given mashed potatoes

:01:41. > :01:49.The fastest-ever serve was by Taylor Dent in 2010

:01:50. > :01:54.That's double the speed limit for a motorway so,

:01:55. > :02:00.as you can imagine, that's really fast.

:02:01. > :02:02.At Wimbledon, it's tradition to eat strawberries and cream, and over

:02:03. > :02:07.the two-week period over 28,000kg will be eaten.

:02:08. > :02:11.That's the same weight as nearly three elephants.

:02:12. > :02:15.Wimbledon has its very own hawk called Rufus,

:02:16. > :02:17.who flies for one hour every morning of the Championships

:02:18. > :02:22.Mr Popular even has his own Twitter account.

:02:23. > :02:36.Well, we've got a great line up of British stars playing today.

:02:37. > :02:40.Kicking everything off is Andy Murray on Centre Court as the

:02:41. > :02:45.defending champion. He did have a bit of a problem, hip injury, but he

:02:46. > :02:49.said he should be OK. In happier news committee also said he is

:02:50. > :02:55.expecting a second baby with his wife, Kim, so congratulations for

:02:56. > :02:58.that! Also in action today, Heather Watson and Johanna Konta, loads of

:02:59. > :03:04.British stars taking to the courts today. But we want to know who could

:03:05. > :03:05.possibly win this thing? We spoke to the BBC's tennis expert Russell

:03:06. > :03:08.Fuller. Andy Murray is the obvious name

:03:09. > :03:12.to start with as the defending champion, the world number one,

:03:13. > :03:15.but he's had a very poor 2017 by his standards so far and has had

:03:16. > :03:18.problems with his hip heading But he is a two-time

:03:19. > :03:21.Wimbledon champion, he's The world number one

:03:22. > :03:31.is Angelique Kerber. Her year has been a bit

:03:32. > :03:34.like Andy Murray's year. She hasn't had a great deal

:03:35. > :03:37.of success since becoming the world number one but she was in the final

:03:38. > :03:40.in 2016 here at Wimbledon and she definitely has

:03:41. > :03:42.the game to become champion Roger Federer is another

:03:43. > :03:49.name that lots of people He's won the Wimbledon

:03:50. > :03:56.title seven times. He's had a bit of a break recently

:03:57. > :03:59.but that did him no harm He'd not been on court

:04:00. > :04:03.for six months before that and he won the Australian Open

:04:04. > :04:08.at the age of 35. There are high hopes

:04:09. > :04:12.of Britain's Johanna Konta. She's performed very,

:04:13. > :04:16.very well in the big tournaments in the last couple of years

:04:17. > :04:19.and will be the sixth She did have a nasty

:04:20. > :04:22.fall at Eastbourne. Seemed to hit her head and her back

:04:23. > :04:26.very, very hard on the grass but, as we saw with the way she played

:04:27. > :04:29.there, beating the world number one and the reigning French Open

:04:30. > :04:31.champion on the same day, Rafa Nadal is the

:04:32. > :04:38.French Open champion. He won the title in Paris

:04:39. > :04:42.just three weeks ago. He has won Wimbledon twice

:04:43. > :04:46.in the past but historically has suffered knee problems

:04:47. > :04:50.here at Wimbledon. The ball bounces lower and therefore

:04:51. > :04:53.Nadal's knees have to bend more to get down to the ball and that's

:04:54. > :04:55.caused him problems. She's a five-time Wimbledon

:04:56. > :05:12.champion, but she has been playing wonderfully

:05:13. > :05:14.well over the past couple of years and her chances are not to be

:05:15. > :05:24.entirely written off at all. That is all from me from a very

:05:25. > :05:26.sunny Wimbledon, I'm hoping the sun stays out, it will be a lovely day.

:05:27. > :05:28.Back to you, Ricky. A bit of other sport now,

:05:29. > :05:32.and it was bad news for British cyclist Chris Froome at the latest

:05:33. > :05:35.stage of the Tour de France. He took a tumble after a massive

:05:36. > :05:37.pile-up in wet weather. Don't worry - he got back

:05:38. > :05:41.on his bike, but did say later that he'd lost of bit of skin

:05:42. > :05:43.from his bottom. As you may know, Popocatepetl

:05:44. > :05:51.is a big volcano far away in Mexico, The ash cloud blew up 2000

:05:52. > :05:58.metres above the crater. That's all from me,

:05:59. > :06:06.Newsround's back at 4.20pm. Hey! I hope you're ready for school

:06:07. > :06:08.cos it's Monday morning. That's right, welcome to CBBC HQ,

:06:09. > :06:12.with Karim and Rhys.
