0:00:02 > 0:00:04Good morning, guys, Ayshah here with some top stuff

0:00:04 > 0:00:05coming right up for you.

0:00:05 > 0:00:07On the way.

0:00:07 > 0:00:10The spaceship hoping to find out what happens when stars explode.

0:00:10 > 0:00:15And Liverpool score six to smash the Saints.

0:00:25 > 0:00:27But first let's talk about whether Britain should send planes

0:00:27 > 0:00:31to bomb parts of a country called Syria as part of a plan to try

0:00:31 > 0:00:35and stop the group calling itself Islamic State, or IS.

0:00:35 > 0:00:37Well, last night UK politicians got to

0:00:37 > 0:00:41vote on whether they thought it was a good idea to join countries like

0:00:41 > 0:00:44France and America who are already doing it, after a big debate.

0:00:44 > 0:00:47So what happened?

0:00:47 > 0:00:51Well, the MPs have spoken and a big number of them,

0:00:51 > 0:00:56a sizeable majority of 174, said yes to David Cameron's plan to let

0:00:56 > 0:01:01the RAF join in those air strikes on so-called IS targets in Syria.

0:01:01 > 0:01:04The RAF, the military men have been preparing

0:01:04 > 0:01:07for this for weeks, if not months, so it's likely to begin soon.

0:01:07 > 0:01:10And remember, this is just the beginning of this

0:01:10 > 0:01:13action, nowhere near the end.

0:01:13 > 0:01:15Those airstrikes have now already started.

0:01:15 > 0:01:19Four British planes from the Royal Air Force, or RAF,

0:01:19 > 0:01:25have dropped bombs on Islamic State areas overnight.

0:01:25 > 0:01:29And there's much more about the background to all this

0:01:29 > 0:01:32on the Newsround website including what Islamic State is and the events

0:01:32 > 0:01:37in Paris that led to this vote.

0:01:37 > 0:01:41OK, moving on, a space probe has been launched this morning to find

0:01:41 > 0:01:42out more about what gravity is.

0:01:42 > 0:01:45The Lisa Pathfinder mission will carry out some big experiments

0:01:45 > 0:01:49including looking inside a star when it explodes in space.

0:01:49 > 0:01:52Martin's got more.

0:01:52 > 0:01:58After months of preparations and intense training, a 30 metre tall

0:01:58 > 0:02:02rocket took off from South America.

0:02:02 > 0:02:05It will travel 1.5 million kilometres from Earth.

0:02:05 > 0:02:08Once it reaches its orbit, it will release a satellite called

0:02:08 > 0:02:12the Lisa Pathfinder.

0:02:12 > 0:02:14There is no one on board so it will be controlled

0:02:14 > 0:02:21around the clock by experienced teams at the European Space Agency.

0:02:21 > 0:02:24Once it's in position, it will do loads of experiments.

0:02:24 > 0:02:26It will use lots of new high-tech equipment to try

0:02:26 > 0:02:28and measure something called gravitational waves.

0:02:28 > 0:02:33These are ripples in space-time, the very fabric of the universe.

0:02:33 > 0:02:36They are caused by massive events in space like when two black holes

0:02:36 > 0:02:38collide and merge.

0:02:38 > 0:02:42A black hole is thought to be a dying star that collapsed inwards

0:02:42 > 0:02:44from its own weight.

0:02:44 > 0:02:48Its pull of gravity becomes so strong that even light can escape,

0:02:48 > 0:02:53which is why it looks black.

0:02:53 > 0:02:56British scientist Harry Ward has helped develop some of

0:02:56 > 0:02:57the equipment that has been used.

0:02:57 > 0:03:00We have got two things that are floating freely in space

0:03:00 > 0:03:02and we're trying to measure the distance between them.

0:03:02 > 0:03:05And the way we make those measurements is to shine laser beams

0:03:05 > 0:03:08backwards and forwards, and the laser beams act as a kind of ruler.

0:03:08 > 0:03:11All the things that direct the laser beams have to be incredibly well

0:03:11 > 0:03:14lined up and incredibly stable and that's what this device here does.

0:03:14 > 0:03:16It's a very special material that hardly changes at all

0:03:16 > 0:03:17when the temperature changes.

0:03:17 > 0:03:19Strong enough that it can survive the rather extreme

0:03:19 > 0:03:22journey it's about to undertake.

0:03:22 > 0:03:24The experiments will help scientists learn more

0:03:24 > 0:03:28about how the universe works.

0:03:28 > 0:03:31Liverpool are through to the semi-finals of the

0:03:31 > 0:03:35Capital One Cup after they battered Southampton 6-1 at home.

0:03:35 > 0:03:37Southampton had scored the fastest League Cup goal this

0:03:37 > 0:03:42season when they went one up after 39 seconds, but two goals from

0:03:42 > 0:03:46Daniel Sturridge, a hat-trick from Divock Origi and a goal from Jordan

0:03:46 > 0:03:48Ibe saw Liverpool win in style.

0:03:48 > 0:03:50They'll play Stoke in the semi.

0:03:50 > 0:03:56And manager Jurgen Klopp was more than happy with his team.

0:03:56 > 0:04:00I had some problems with the first minute,

0:04:00 > 0:04:02no less problems with the next ten.

0:04:02 > 0:04:11But then we started playing the game and it was a good one to win.

0:04:11 > 0:04:14England coach and former Man United player Gary Neville has been

0:04:14 > 0:04:17announced as the new head coach of Spanish club Valencia.

0:04:17 > 0:04:21He'll be in charge until the end of the season and will be working

0:04:21 > 0:04:26with his brother, Phil, who is already the assistant manger there.

0:04:26 > 0:04:29Last up, it wouldn't be Newsround unless we found a panda story

0:04:29 > 0:04:31and this one is super cute.

0:04:31 > 0:04:34These twin pandas are celebrating their first birthday at a zoo

0:04:34 > 0:04:35in Japan.

0:04:35 > 0:04:38They had a pink cake which was made entirely out of ice.

0:04:38 > 0:04:42Happy birthday, guys!

0:04:42 > 0:04:45If you've not opened your advent calendar this morning then remember

0:04:45 > 0:04:47to do it before you go to school.

0:04:47 > 0:04:50And head to the Newsround website to find out how you can get involved

0:04:50 > 0:04:52in our special online calendar too.

0:04:52 > 0:04:54That's all from me, Newsround's back right here in about half an hour.
