0:00:04 > 0:00:06Hi, I'm Hayley.

0:00:06 > 0:00:08This is Newsround and we've got loads of great stuff

0:00:08 > 0:00:10coming up for you.

0:00:10 > 0:00:14We look at why the US is shivering right now.

0:00:14 > 0:00:24Check out these skills.

0:00:27 > 0:00:30It is winter, so we probably shouldn't be surprised that it's

0:00:30 > 0:00:31pretty cold outside.

0:00:31 > 0:00:33But in parts of America, the temperatures are

0:00:33 > 0:00:34much more drastic.

0:00:34 > 0:00:37Whitney's got this.

0:00:37 > 0:00:40How chilly does this look?

0:00:40 > 0:00:43The US is currently on its tenth day of record-breaking cold

0:00:43 > 0:00:47temperatures, which began around Christmas.

0:00:47 > 0:00:51Some places have been been colder than Mars.

0:00:51 > 0:00:53That's so cold that weather experts have started describing

0:00:53 > 0:00:57it as a bomb cyclone.

0:00:57 > 0:00:58It certainly sounds dramatic.

0:00:58 > 0:01:01It's caused when air pressure drops quickly and means even more

0:01:01 > 0:01:03freezing temperatures, blizzards and dangerously icy winds

0:01:03 > 0:01:08- strong enough to bring down trees.

0:01:08 > 0:01:12Some people say it could feel like a winter hurricane.

0:01:12 > 0:01:15Schools have been closed in areas around New York

0:01:15 > 0:01:19which are likely to be hardest hit by heavy snow.

0:01:19 > 0:01:23It could be more than 25 centimetres deep.

0:01:23 > 0:01:26Big cities in the north-east like Boston also face

0:01:26 > 0:01:29problems, with big blizzards on the way there too.

0:01:29 > 0:01:32But for some people in Tallahassee in Florida, the snowy weather's

0:01:32 > 0:01:35been a bit of a novelty.

0:01:35 > 0:01:38They've only had a little compared to the other side of the country,

0:01:38 > 0:01:42and most of it melted when it hit the ground, but it's the first time

0:01:42 > 0:01:49they've seen snow in 28 years.

0:01:49 > 0:01:52Do you worry about how you look or how many likes

0:01:52 > 0:01:53you get on social media?

0:01:53 > 0:01:56Well, a new report out today says at secondary school this becomes

0:01:56 > 0:01:57a lot more important to kids.

0:01:57 > 0:02:04Here's what you guys had to say about it.

0:02:04 > 0:02:07The biggest change is probably how much people use it and how many

0:02:07 > 0:02:12people actually use it in the school.

0:02:12 > 0:02:15People think it's a lot cooler to actually use social media now,

0:02:15 > 0:02:22rather than in year six.

0:02:22 > 0:02:26Social media really impacts you and the way you look

0:02:26 > 0:02:32and want to come across, especially in secondary school.

0:02:32 > 0:02:38There is a lot more pressure in secondary school to get

0:02:38 > 0:02:40likes and followers.

0:02:40 > 0:02:43In secondary school I think people are a lot more conscious

0:02:43 > 0:02:46of what they post and how it looks and just the things

0:02:46 > 0:02:48that they say or do on it.

0:02:48 > 0:02:53For me, it is not that much of a pressure, because I don't

0:02:53 > 0:02:58really care what people think.

0:02:58 > 0:03:00Everybody in high school, if they see you and they see

0:03:00 > 0:03:02you on Instagram, they try to follow you.

0:03:02 > 0:03:05Not everybody, but most people, because they want to get followers.

0:03:05 > 0:03:10In secondary school there is a lot of insecurity about your looks

0:03:10 > 0:03:15and the way you dress and come to school, because on social

0:03:15 > 0:03:17media it is kind of shown how you should look.

0:03:17 > 0:03:22People think that you need the likes to get fame in the school.

0:03:22 > 0:03:25There is more pressure to be looking good on social

0:03:25 > 0:03:28media when you are older, because you have got more

0:03:28 > 0:03:30pressure on your appearance, people think they should look better

0:03:30 > 0:03:37when they are older.

0:03:37 > 0:03:42And there's loads more information on social

0:03:42 > 0:03:47media at this website - bbc.co.uk/ownit

0:03:47 > 0:03:50Now, take a look at this.

0:03:50 > 0:03:54This is world champion footballing freestyler,

0:03:54 > 0:03:57Liv Cooke showing off just good she is with a football.

0:03:57 > 0:04:00And she's doing it while on a train - sitting down.

0:04:00 > 0:04:01Wow!

0:04:01 > 0:04:04Amazing!

0:04:04 > 0:04:05Scientists in America have been putting sea turtles

0:04:05 > 0:04:08on treadmills and then testing their swimming strength.

0:04:08 > 0:04:10It's not cruel - it's to find out whether

0:04:10 > 0:04:15the distance new born sea turtles have to crawl when first born

0:04:15 > 0:04:18affects their ability to swim in the sea.

0:04:18 > 0:04:20Amazingly they showed no signs of tiring at all.

0:04:20 > 0:04:28That's Turtely awesome!

0:04:28 > 0:04:30You're about to be overwhelmed by cuteness - you ready?

0:04:30 > 0:04:35Eight cheetah cubs have been born in at St Louis Zoo in America.

0:04:35 > 0:04:38They were born back in November but this is the first video of them.

0:04:38 > 0:04:43The Zoo says mum and her cubs are doing really well.

0:04:43 > 0:04:47Just enough time to tell you to head online, where you can find out

0:04:47 > 0:04:51how your street lights could be powered by dog poo.

0:04:51 > 0:04:52I'm not even joking.
