:00:00. > :00:08.Hi, guys, I'm Ayshah with your Tuesday afternoon headlines, and

:00:09. > :00:12.here's what's coming up. Surfing what could be the biggest

:00:13. > :00:22.wave, we find out, using giraffes, just how tall that might be. And...

:00:23. > :00:25.I am the daddy! Yes, he's the daddy, we meet the man who ran 5,000 miles

:00:26. > :00:30.across Canada, dressed as a superhero. This is Newsround.

:00:31. > :00:35.First, the future king had to travel by boat and tractor today to visit

:00:36. > :00:41.people in flood-hit Somerset, where 25 square miles of the county is

:00:42. > :00:43.under water. Prince Charles has been spending the day speaking to

:00:44. > :00:45.families, farmers and emergency-service workers to see the

:00:46. > :00:51.damaged caused by the flooding, which has lasted for more than a

:00:52. > :00:55.month. The Prince's Countryside Fund is going to give ?50,000 from its

:00:56. > :00:59.emergency fund to help farmers and communities in the area.

:01:00. > :01:04.Meanwhile, in Eastern Europe they're enduring terrible weather too, but

:01:05. > :01:08.with added ice. Slovenia is having some of the worst winter blizzards

:01:09. > :01:11.for decades. A quarter of houses have been left without electricity,

:01:12. > :01:16.transport has been disrupted, and more than a third of the country's

:01:17. > :01:20.schools are closed. Next up, meet Jamie McDonald, no

:01:21. > :01:24.stranger to cold places either. He's thought to be the first person ever

:01:25. > :01:29.to run solo from one end of Canada to the other. That's 5,000 miles! He

:01:30. > :01:32.took up the gruelling challenge to help raise money for children's

:01:33. > :01:38.charities, and 275 days later he spoke to Leah about his epic

:01:39. > :01:47.journey. Who is the daddy?! Who is the

:01:48. > :01:54.daddy?! Jamie, AKA the Flash. A sportsman and an all-round

:01:55. > :02:02.superhero. I am the daddy! And he's achieved something no other person

:02:03. > :02:09.has done before. He ran 5,000 miles across Canada, which is kind of like

:02:10. > :02:13.running 200 marathons. Dealing with sub-zero temperatures, he went

:02:14. > :02:18.through ten pairs of trainers. He slept on the streets and did it all

:02:19. > :02:23.dressed as his favourite superhero. What was the biggest challenge for

:02:24. > :02:30.you? This was one year-long! I got frostbite on my nose, and I thought

:02:31. > :02:36.I was going to lose it. Luckily, I haven't, it is still there! Every

:02:37. > :02:40.single step was painful, but I had to make a decision whether I quit or

:02:41. > :02:43.continue on. But Jamie kept on going. Having spent the first nine

:02:44. > :02:50.years of his life in hospital, he managed to raise more than ?100,000

:02:51. > :02:55.for kids here in the UK. It's unreal! I was a tennis teacher back

:02:56. > :02:59.home, and it would have taken me five years to have earned that, and

:03:00. > :03:05.to have in 11 months I'm so proud. But why the outfit? Because I

:03:06. > :03:07.thought it would raise a bit more money for the children's hospitals,

:03:08. > :03:10.but actually thinking about it, anyone can be a superhero So after

:03:11. > :03:20.this incredible journey, what's top of Jamie must-do list? I would love

:03:21. > :03:27.a roast dinner, but not just any roast dinner, my Mum's roast dinner.

:03:28. > :03:30.What a guy! If that's inspired you to do something amazing, head to the

:03:31. > :03:35.website right now and let us know what your epic challenge would be.

:03:36. > :03:38.Check out our story about how Harry Styles's dad reckons he's not as

:03:39. > :03:42.clever as his sister. And you can also read all about our next story,

:03:43. > :03:45.giant rats the size of sheep. Yep, my worst nightmare. If you've

:03:46. > :03:49.ever seen a rat, you'll know they're normally pretty small. So can you

:03:50. > :03:53.imagine one the size of a sheep? Well, that's what scientists reckon

:03:54. > :03:57.we could see in the future. It's thought that over a long time, rats

:03:58. > :04:00.could fill the gaps left by larger animals as they become extinct. With

:04:01. > :04:04.the space to grow, rats could evolve to grow bigger and bigger. But don't

:04:05. > :04:08.worry, we won't be seeing giant rats for a long time yet.

:04:09. > :04:11.Last up, to a British man who may have broken the record for the

:04:12. > :04:15.biggest wave ever surfed. This is an 80 foot wave being surfed by Andrew

:04:16. > :04:19.Cotton at a legendary surf spot off Nazare in Portugal on Sunday. It

:04:20. > :04:23.could be the highest that's ever been ridden. At 80 feet, the wave

:04:24. > :04:29.was as tall as four giraffes, eight TARDISes or 15 Newsround Nels. We

:04:30. > :04:32.won't know for sure if he's made the record books until May, when surf

:04:33. > :04:39.company Billabong officially measure it, but we asked him how you catch a

:04:40. > :04:43.monster wave like that. It is something that I have trained for

:04:44. > :04:49.all my life, I know the ocean very well. You know when it is right.

:04:50. > :04:53.Even though it happened in seconds, like it was a few seconds,

:04:54. > :04:57.everything was in slow motion. I just couldn't go fast enough, I was

:04:58. > :05:00.hurtling down, it was massive, but I did not realise it would be the

:05:01. > :05:02.biggest one ever. That's all from me and the Newsround

:05:03. > :05:03.team.
