:01:30. > :01:42.controlling the function of our bodies, storing our learning and

:01:58. > :02:01.processed. Short-term memory is the kind of memory used when you are
:02:02. > :02:04.sitting in the classroom and the teacher is telling you something new
:02:05. > :02:09.that you have not heard before and you have to learn it. Long-term
:02:10. > :02:14.memory is protest in the hippocampus, a structure here

:02:46. > :02:49.memory. The programme works by asking you to remember different
:02:50. > :02:53.types of information, getting harder and harder the longer you train.
:02:54. > :02:56.Researchers say they have been impressed by the results. We are
:02:57. > :03:02.seeing that the children work hard on these exercises, we are able to
:03:03. > :03:08.improve their short-term memories. I can recall instructions easier, and
:03:09. > :03:12.they know what the teacher has told me and I'll remember it better.
:03:13. > :03:15.Although there are still lots of things we do not know about the
:03:16. > :03:18.brain and how memory works, in future, kids across the country
