:00:21. > :00:23.Across the UK, their numbers are down, and now there's a threat

:00:24. > :00:34.Well, they're small, brilliant swimmers.

:00:35. > :00:35.They're often paired together for life.

:00:36. > :00:41.And I'm here in the very windy Isle of Mull, as you can see by my hair,

:00:42. > :00:47.to take that boat out to the island of Lunga to see some.

:00:48. > :00:50.Dave, who is a bird expert in Mull, is going to help me find

:00:51. > :01:03.And it's been a long journey, but we finally made it.

:01:04. > :01:14.Just behind us are some beautiful birds.

:01:15. > :01:17.Apart from being beautiful, what's so special about them?

:01:18. > :01:19.Well, these puffins are now in serious trouble.

:01:20. > :01:21.They're on what you call the Red List.

:01:22. > :01:27.One in ten of all puffins come from the UK, so we've got that

:01:28. > :01:32.Elsewhere, places like Iceland and parts of northern Scotland,

:01:33. > :01:34.the puffin colonies have gone, and that's what

:01:35. > :01:39.Why are they on the decline in other parts of the UK?

:01:40. > :01:43.What we think is the biggest decline now is to do with global warming

:01:44. > :01:47.These birds have evolved to catch particular types of fish

:01:48. > :01:51.in particular temperatures of seas, and as the temperature of the sea

:01:52. > :01:53.is rising, those fish are moving further away and out of reach

:01:54. > :01:58.So what can we do in order to protect these puffins?

:01:59. > :02:01.The RSPB has launched Project Puffin, and it is

:02:02. > :02:04.trying to get people to take photographs of the puffins

:02:05. > :02:06.as they come in with the fish that they catch.

:02:07. > :02:11.With that we can work out why there is a problem in other

:02:12. > :02:16.They're just fantastic little characters, aren't they?

:02:17. > :02:19.I mean, just the fact that they look so happy and secure,

:02:20. > :02:22.and yet we know deep down now that they are in trouble.

:02:23. > :02:25.We could really help this bird and keep it looking bright

:02:26. > :02:29.and cheerful and happy, and go on enjoying it for years to come.

:02:30. > :02:31.Well, I think it's time to leave these funny and beautiful birds

:02:32. > :02:34.in peace, but honestly, despite the weather, I could sit

:02:35. > :02:49.Now, on Newsround, we like to get you close to the news,

:02:50. > :02:52.and you don't get much closer to a rocket launch than this.

:02:53. > :02:55.China launched this massive rocket this week to take

:02:56. > :02:59.But launches aren't always as easy as it can seem.

:03:00. > :03:03.This rocket actually failed to get into space.

:03:04. > :03:05.Next, to Chile in South America, where forest fires devastated

:03:06. > :03:10.Well, people there have come up with a new way

:03:11. > :03:15.to replant the forest - and it sounds barking mad.

:03:16. > :03:17.There aren't many dogs who would say no to a nice,

:03:18. > :03:20.But these guys aren't doing this for fun.

:03:21. > :03:26.They are actually helping to plant the trees and flowers.

:03:27. > :03:28.Forest fires ripped through parts of central Chile last year, burning

:03:29. > :03:33.But since March, these border collies, called

:03:34. > :03:37.Summer, Olivia and Daz, have been helping it to recover.

:03:38. > :03:44.Well, the dogs wear a special satchel on their collar

:03:45. > :03:49.When they run, the seeds get spread across the land.

:03:50. > :03:53.TRANSLATION: We could do it ourselves, but we can't do as much.

:03:54. > :03:57.We can walk around three kilometres per day,

:03:58. > :04:05.The dogs, however, can travel 30 or 40 kilometres in one outing.

:04:06. > :04:07.The first signs of life are returning to the forest

:04:08. > :04:10.and people there are hoping that in a few years, it will have

:04:11. > :04:20.It's the fourth of July today - which means it's

:04:21. > :04:21.US Independence Day, America's national day

:04:22. > :04:25.And some people have been celebrating in

:04:26. > :04:32.It's America's famous dish, and sure,
