:00:09. > :00:14.Good afternoon. I'm Hayley with the day's unmisable stories. Including:
:00:14. > :00:20.I'll find out why some people are worried about what you get up it on
:00:20. > :00:25.your mobiles and computer. Plus we'll have top tips on how to stay
:00:25. > :00:31.safe online. Bye-bye Becky. One of Team GB's favourites hangs up her
:00:31. > :00:35.goggles. And oh snow, it's back. This is Newsround.
:00:35. > :00:39.For many of you, the first thing you do when you get home from
:00:39. > :00:43.school is get online. But to mark Safer Internet Day, the charity,
:00:43. > :00:47.ChildLine is calling for lessons for kids as young as five, in how
:00:47. > :00:54.to stay safe on your favourite gadgets. They say they're getting
:00:54. > :01:02.thousands of calls from children worried about online bullying.
:01:02. > :01:06.I was n a website once and I saw two people swearing at each other.
:01:06. > :01:10.If you disagree on something and you are not there to work it out it,
:01:10. > :01:13.turns into a massive argument over the internet. There is no doubt
:01:13. > :01:17.we're spending more and adimister sometime online but the big problem
:01:17. > :01:20.facing kids is the risk of being bullied on the net. Last year
:01:20. > :01:24.ChildLine took thousands of calls from schoolchildren who say they've
:01:24. > :01:28.been upset about things that have happened to them. They are now
:01:28. > :01:32.calling for all schools to teach but internet safety from the age of
:01:32. > :01:35.five. One of the big concerns is the number of apps on our
:01:35. > :01:39.smartphones that lets you send sometimes inappropriate and
:01:39. > :01:42.embarrassing pictures to yourself and your mates and let's you chat
:01:42. > :01:46.with strangers and some of these can pinpoint where you live. And it
:01:46. > :01:50.is not just apps. Many children under 13 are using websites lick
:01:50. > :01:54.Facebook, even though they are too young. So I wanted to see how
:01:54. > :01:57.widespread it is in this class. Now half of a class have a social
:01:57. > :02:04.networking programme pro-file and about one-third say they are
:02:04. > :02:08.worried about going online. They go on it so we have to work out how to
:02:08. > :02:13.be safe on it. What advice can these guys offer? Don't add people
:02:13. > :02:19.you don't know. Just talk to your friends. If someone talks to me and
:02:19. > :02:22.I don't know them I remove them as a friend. Or block communications
:02:22. > :02:26.with them. Remember, be nice to people on the net. If you see
:02:26. > :02:29.anything that upsets you, tell someone. And if you get contacted
:02:29. > :02:33.by a person you don't know, remember they are a stranger. Tell
:02:33. > :02:36.someone you trust straight away. Head to the Newsround website to
:02:36. > :02:46.watch our special programme called Caught in the Web. While you are
:02:46. > :02:49.
:02:49. > :02:53.there, watch the Newsround web safety song, featuring some guys
:02:53. > :02:55.you might recognise. Now hundreds of you bagged another snow day
:02:55. > :02:59.today. More than 50 schools in Northern Ireland Hain Scotland have
:02:59. > :03:03.been closed because of the freezing weather. The snow has hit northern
:03:03. > :03:08.England where it is coming down in bucket-loads right now. Next,
:03:08. > :03:11.should two men or two women be able to get married? A debate is going
:03:11. > :03:14.on in Parliament right now before MPs get to vote on the issue this
:03:14. > :03:18.evening. At the moment same-sex couples in England and Wales have
:03:18. > :03:20.had what is called a civil partnership which offers similar
:03:20. > :03:24.legal rights but isn't exactly the same as marriage. The Prime
:03:24. > :03:28.Minister, drm, wants the marriage plans to go ahead in England and
:03:28. > :03:32.Wales, but it is causing big divisions in his own Conservative
:03:32. > :03:35.Party. Many of his own MPs are expected to vote against it. If, as
:03:36. > :03:39.expected, the vote does go through, there is still a way to go before
:03:39. > :03:44.it would become law. And some huge news from the world
:03:44. > :03:49.of swimming today. The golen girl of the pool, Rebecca Adlington
:03:49. > :03:56.announced she's hanging up her bogles and retiring from the sport.
:03:56. > :04:00.I -- her goggles. I don't like the word "retiring." Just ending my
:04:00. > :04:06.competitive career. It is the right time. I have achieved everything I
:04:06. > :04:11.quof hoped for. Team GB hasn't won gold in a pool for more than 50
:04:11. > :04:15.years before Beijing. Then Becky Adlington won two. In London 2012
:04:15. > :04:20.expectation has never been higher. She went home with two bronzes. Now
:04:20. > :04:24.show says she'll be glad to put her feet up Pushing your body to the
:04:24. > :04:27.limit every single day. It is not one of thoinges that ten minutes of
:04:27. > :04:31.every day, -- it is not one of those things.
:04:31. > :04:36.It is every day of pushing your body to the max. Next up for her is
:04:36. > :04:41.working with kids to get more of you lot into swimming. We'll have
:04:41. > :04:47.more on that at 6.50. And from one Olympic medallist in the pool to
