:00:00. > :00:15.It's Wednesday morning. I'm Leah and you're live with Newsround. Coming

:00:16. > :00:23.up: Back on dry land - the mystery of the Mexican castaway lost at sea

:00:24. > :00:30.for over a year! The newborn line cubs, this is Newsround. First

:00:31. > :00:32.though, the terrible weather conditions continue to batter parts

:00:33. > :00:38.of Britain, with storms causing chaos in the south west of England

:00:39. > :00:42.and parts of Wales overnight. Gusts of up to 70 miles an hour were

:00:43. > :00:45.recorded and thousands of homes are still without power after the fierce

:00:46. > :00:48.winds brought down trees and electricity cables. Power companies

:00:49. > :00:49.are now fighting to get supplies back on. You have been telling us

:00:50. > :01:14.how you have been affected. Next to a story of survival that's

:01:15. > :01:19.amazed and surprised people around the world. In 2012, a fisherman from

:01:20. > :01:24.Mexico says he went on a fishing trip with a friend. 13 months later,

:01:25. > :01:34.he was found on a tiny island 8,000 miles from home. Nel has been

:01:35. > :01:38.looking into it. This man says he has spent more than

:01:39. > :01:50.a year floating adrift in the middle of the ocean. He claims to have been

:01:51. > :01:55.lost at sea but 13 months when a day's fishing trip went wrong. The

:01:56. > :02:01.37-year-old, who only speaks Spanish says he left southern Mexico with a

:02:02. > :02:07.friend on a day trip to catch black tip sharks in 2012. Last week he

:02:08. > :02:11.washed up alone with a bushy beard 8,000 miles from home on a tiny

:02:12. > :02:17.Pacific island. TRANSLATION: The boat was bobbing up

:02:18. > :02:21.and down in the waves. I pushed myself away from the boat so it

:02:22. > :02:25.would not hit me in the head. When I got to the sure I was unable to

:02:26. > :02:32.walk. Some people have questioned whether it is possible to survive

:02:33. > :02:35.that amount of time. He said his friend he was travelling with died

:02:36. > :02:40.many months ago, but there are no details how he died and how the boat

:02:41. > :02:49.got into trouble in the first place. He is now heading back to Mexico to

:02:50. > :02:54.be reunited with his family. It is not the first time people have been

:02:55. > :02:58.rescued off the Marshall Islands. In 2006, three fishermen had to be

:02:59. > :03:02.rescued after what they said nine months drifting across the Pacific

:03:03. > :03:08.Ocean. They survived on rainwater, birds and fish.

:03:09. > :03:11.Cricket now and one of England's best ever star batsman Kevin

:03:12. > :03:16.Pietersen has played his last match for his country. Bosses announced

:03:17. > :03:19.yesterday that he'd been dropped for both the One Day tour of the West

:03:20. > :03:25.Indies which starts next month, and the World Twenty20 in Bangladesh.

:03:26. > :03:30.Kevin Pietersen reckons he still has more to give the team. Those in

:03:31. > :03:33.charge say they need to rebuild the team after the disastrous Ashes tour

:03:34. > :03:35.of Australia. But not everyone thinks it's the right time to finish

:03:36. > :03:39.Pietersen's career. I don't think this is the moment.

:03:40. > :03:43.There is a World Cup coming up and an Ashes series in 16 months. You

:03:44. > :03:48.need your best players. It is the wrong call at the wrong time for

:03:49. > :03:54.English cricket. You never know what you'll get with

:03:55. > :03:58.Kevin Pietersen. It is an entertainment business cricket is

:03:59. > :04:05.in, and Kevin Pietersen is entertaining.

:04:06. > :04:10.Fulham's miserable season just keeps getting worse. They've been knocked

:04:11. > :04:11.out of the FA Cup by League One's Sheffield United. They lost 1-0

:04:12. > :04:15.after this last minute, extra-time header, from Shaun Miller. The

:04:16. > :04:19.Blades will now play the winner of tonight's replay between Preston and

:04:20. > :04:23.Nottingham Forest. Now, to a very cute and quite rare

:04:24. > :04:27.arrival at a zoo in Poland - three white lion cubs! It's really special

:04:28. > :04:31.because white lions are usually only found in wildlife reserves in South

:04:32. > :04:34.Africa and only a few zoos around the world. Their zoo keeper says he

:04:35. > :04:37.thinks there's around only 90 of them in existence. Meanwhile, Mum is

:04:38. > :04:42.taking her job of looking after her new cubs very seriously.

:04:43. > :04:48.Just enough time to tell you what is good on the website. Look at the

:04:49. > :04:56.amazing footage of the British surfer who may have ridden the

:04:57. > :05:00.biggest wave ever. We are back right here at 4:20pm.
