0:00:03 > 0:00:04Hello, everyone.
0:00:04 > 0:00:07It's Friday and I'm Leah - and you're live with Newsround.
0:00:07 > 0:00:12Coming up: The robot that's the best golfer in the world.
0:00:12 > 0:00:16And the amazing snow and ice sculptures wowing crowds in Japan.
0:00:25 > 0:00:27First this morning.
0:00:27 > 0:00:30It's just six months to go until the start of the Olympic Games
0:00:30 > 0:00:31in Rio in South America.
0:00:31 > 0:00:34The athletes are in training and the venues are almost ready.
0:00:35 > 0:00:38But there are some problems still to deal with.
0:00:38 > 0:00:42The BBC's Wyre Davies is in Rio for Newsround.
0:00:42 > 0:00:44From a sporting perspective, everything looks pretty good.
0:00:44 > 0:00:47The four distinct Olympic venues around
0:00:47 > 0:00:50the city are coming on fine, and most of the stadiums are nearly
0:00:50 > 0:00:52finished, and also the test events they have been holding
0:00:52 > 0:00:55here in the city are going pretty well.
0:00:55 > 0:00:58There is some cause for concern, particularly
0:00:58 > 0:01:01water quality here in the bay around the city, and also transport links
0:01:01 > 0:01:05between Rio and the main Olympic park.
0:01:05 > 0:01:08There's a new tube line which will only be finished a matter
0:01:08 > 0:01:10of weeks before the Olympic Games.
0:01:10 > 0:01:14But the biggest cause for concern here in Rio now is the appearance
0:01:14 > 0:01:16of the Zika virus.
0:01:16 > 0:01:18This is a virus which is transferred by a tiny mosquito
0:01:18 > 0:01:22and there are millions of these mosquitoes across Brazil.
0:01:22 > 0:01:24It is believed that as many as a million
0:01:24 > 0:01:27people in Brazil may have caught the virus itself.
0:01:27 > 0:01:29It's not physically harmful, but of course
0:01:29 > 0:01:31Olympic officials are hoping by the time the Olympic Games come
0:01:31 > 0:01:36around, it'll actually be the winter here in the southern hemisphere,
0:01:36 > 0:01:39and most of those mosquitoes will not be in the season,
0:01:39 > 0:01:41and everything will hopefully be all right for visitors
0:01:41 > 0:01:45here to Rio and the Olympic Games.
0:01:45 > 0:01:47There's a devastating virus that's destroying millions of colonies
0:01:47 > 0:01:50of bees all over the world.
0:01:50 > 0:01:53It can stop their wings growing properly, which stops them flying.
0:01:53 > 0:01:56British scientists says it's not caused by a problem in nature,
0:01:56 > 0:01:59but by the trade in moving honeybee populations around the world
0:01:59 > 0:02:05to areas where there aren't enough to pollinate the food we eat.
0:02:05 > 0:02:10Next - how do you protect trees that are in danger of disappearing?
0:02:10 > 0:02:12You collect sees from other countries and create the biggest
0:02:12 > 0:02:14seed bank in the world.
0:02:14 > 0:02:17The monkey puzzle tree is one of those under threat.
0:02:17 > 0:02:19Hayley's got more.
0:02:19 > 0:02:22These are the unmistakable trickles of the monkey puzzle tree.
0:02:22 > 0:02:24They are found in many gardens, but in the
0:02:24 > 0:02:27wild they are in danger of dying out.
0:02:27 > 0:02:31So conservationists are working fast to make sure they survive.
0:02:31 > 0:02:34Back in 2009 a team went to Chile in South
0:02:34 > 0:02:37America to collect seeds from the last remaining cluster
0:02:37 > 0:02:47of monkey puzzle trees.
0:02:47 > 0:02:49Some went in a massive fridge, others were planted.
0:02:49 > 0:02:51Six years on, they look like this.
0:02:51 > 0:02:54As soon as you sow them, you will see a root within a couple
0:02:54 > 0:02:57of weeks, and within six months or so you'll get a lovely shoot
0:02:57 > 0:03:00coming up from the top, but it takes them six years to get
0:03:00 > 0:03:02to the stage in their life.
0:03:02 > 0:03:03But these have done amazingly well.
0:03:03 > 0:03:06It could be a prehistoric landscape, the trees date back 200 million
0:03:06 > 0:03:10years to the dinosaur times.
0:03:10 > 0:03:14These conifers can grow to over 130 feet
0:03:14 > 0:03:18in height.
0:03:18 > 0:03:21Along with the monkey puzzle tree seeds, thousands of others were also
0:03:21 > 0:03:24collected in Chile.
0:03:24 > 0:03:27They were brought back to the vaults of the millennium seed bank,
0:03:27 > 0:03:29and were sorted, put into jars and put into
0:03:29 > 0:03:33huge fridges for safekeeping.
0:03:33 > 0:03:35There are seeds from 36,000 other species
0:03:35 > 0:03:38of plants from all over the world.
0:03:38 > 0:03:41In the next few years it is hoped a forest landscape like that
0:03:41 > 0:03:46in Chile can be created here in Sussex.
0:03:46 > 0:03:48These trees in Chile are under threat for
0:03:48 > 0:03:50all sorts of different reasons.
0:03:50 > 0:03:54Fire, clearance, so collecting the seed and propagating it
0:03:54 > 0:03:58and having the scientific collection of monkey
0:03:58 > 0:04:02puzzles will help to protect the future of these trees for many
0:04:02 > 0:04:05generations to come.
0:04:05 > 0:04:08Luckily, they are tough, strong trees which can
0:04:08 > 0:04:13tolerate snow, rain and wind, which are all very common in the UK.
0:04:15 > 0:04:17Now, two Russian cosmonauts have done a space-walk
0:04:17 > 0:04:19from the International Space Station.
0:04:19 > 0:04:22The pair are living with British Astronaut Tim Peake
0:04:22 > 0:04:24for six months.
0:04:24 > 0:04:27They went outside to set up some experiments and bring some tests
0:04:27 > 0:04:30back inside to look at the results.
0:04:30 > 0:04:35In tennis, 16-year-old Katie Swan and Heather Watson have both
0:04:35 > 0:04:39won their games in the Fed Cup tennis opener against South Africa.
0:04:39 > 0:04:49Jocelyn Rae and Anna Smith won in the doubles.
0:04:50 > 0:04:53And go online to see the story about the 16-year-old girl
0:04:53 > 0:04:55in Germany who found a gold bar while she was swimming.
0:04:55 > 0:04:58Well, now she's been told she can keep it.
0:04:58 > 0:04:59What a lovely surprise!
0:04:59 > 0:05:02It's worth more than ?15,000 and was found in a lake in Bavaria,
0:05:02 > 0:05:03near the Austrian border.
0:05:03 > 0:05:06And finally in golf, how easy is it to hit a hole in one?
0:05:06 > 0:05:08Well, if you're a robot, it's pretty easy.
0:05:08 > 0:05:11This is Eldrick the robot, who managed to make the golfing
0:05:11 > 0:05:13wonder in his first try in the US.
0:05:13 > 0:05:14Take a look at that!
0:05:14 > 0:05:20A hole in one.
0:05:20 > 0:05:22You'll love this snow festival that's opened
0:05:22 > 0:05:23in Northern Japan, guys.
0:05:23 > 0:05:25An annual snow festival opened in Japan's northernmost region
0:05:25 > 0:05:27of Hokkaido on Friday, with part of the celebrations
0:05:27 > 0:05:30dedicated to the upcoming opening of a high speed train
0:05:30 > 0:05:37from the south.
0:05:37 > 0:05:39This very rare Ferrari car is expected to fetch up to over
0:05:39 > 0:05:41?30 million at an auction in Paris.
0:05:41 > 0:05:44It's been described as a "fabulous star" which had been driven by some
0:05:44 > 0:05:49of the best drivers in racing history since it was made in 1957.
0:05:49 > 0:05:50That's all from me.
0:05:50 > 0:05:55Jenny's back at 4.20 with more Newsround.
0:05:55 > 0:05:55Have
0:05:55 > 0:05:56Have a

0:05:56 > 0:05:57Have a great day,
