0:00:11 > 0:00:15Hi, this is Newsround and I'm Whitney.

0:00:15 > 0:00:19Can you imagine how it would it feel if someone told you your opinion

0:00:19 > 0:00:21didn't matter - just because you were a girl?

0:00:21 > 0:00:24Well, that's what it was like until a hundred years ago in the UK,

0:00:24 > 0:00:28when women and poorer men won the right to vote for their MP.

0:00:28 > 0:00:32These kids have been finding out what that was like.

0:00:32 > 0:00:35Today, we are going to be voting on some really,

0:00:35 > 0:00:38really important issues that will have an effect on all of you.

0:00:38 > 0:00:40You've been split into two teams.

0:00:40 > 0:00:45We have the yellows and we have the greens.

0:00:45 > 0:00:48We're going to vote on whether the greens can only have

0:00:48 > 0:00:52brussels sprouts for the rest of the whole week.

0:00:52 > 0:00:57Only the yellows can vote!

0:00:57 > 0:01:03So write yes or no on here, what you agree with, OK?

0:01:03 > 0:01:09And place your votes, and then go back and sit in the middle.

0:01:09 > 0:01:12So, we have just got the votes in and the yellows voted

0:01:12 > 0:01:14for the greens having to eat brussels sprouts

0:01:14 > 0:01:19for the rest of the week.

0:01:19 > 0:01:21Next, we are going to have a race,

0:01:21 > 0:01:22greens versus yellows,

0:01:22 > 0:01:30to see who can cross the room the fastest.

0:01:30 > 0:01:32But we're going to have a vote on whether the greens

0:01:32 > 0:01:33have to hop across.

0:01:33 > 0:01:40Only the yellows are allowed to vote.

0:01:40 > 0:01:45The class has voted...

0:01:45 > 0:01:48That the greens will only be allowed to hop.

0:01:48 > 0:01:51YELLOW TEAM: Yes!

0:01:51 > 0:01:59Go!

0:01:59 > 0:02:02Hands up if you thought those votes were unfair.

0:02:02 > 0:02:05Do you guys know that 100 years ago, women were not allowed to vote?

0:02:05 > 0:02:11So imagine how they would have felt.

0:02:11 > 0:02:16After I voted, I felt kind of guilty that I had voted for something bad

0:02:16 > 0:02:18to happen to the Greens.

0:02:18 > 0:02:24I found it unfair, because I'm making decisions for other people.

0:02:24 > 0:02:28It's just unfair that some people can't vote and some people can.

0:02:28 > 0:02:31I was really surprised.

0:02:31 > 0:02:34I thought it was all women and I thought that was

0:02:34 > 0:02:36unfair for only men.

0:02:36 > 0:02:38It doesn't matter your gender

0:02:38 > 0:02:41or where you come from or how rich you are that you should vote.

0:02:41 > 0:02:44Everyone should be able to vote.

0:02:44 > 0:02:46It's time for this week's Big Question -

0:02:46 > 0:02:50you can build skyscrapers and pirate ships with it, and it's a nightmare

0:02:50 > 0:02:53if you stand on it - but who invented it?

0:02:53 > 0:03:01Watch this...

0:03:06 > 0:03:09Building, stacking, creating.

0:03:09 > 0:03:12We're talking about Lego, the plastic brick that's one

0:03:12 > 0:03:15of the most recognisable toys in the world.

0:03:15 > 0:03:17But who invented it?

0:03:17 > 0:03:22Well, way back in 1932 in a small village called Billund in Denmark,

0:03:22 > 0:03:26a master carpenter called Ole Kirk Christiansen

0:03:26 > 0:03:31and his 12-year-old son Godred Kirk Christiansen set up

0:03:31 > 0:03:35a business making ladders, stools and wooden toys.

0:03:35 > 0:03:38In 1934, they decided to call the little company Lego,

0:03:38 > 0:03:44from the Danish words "leg godt", which translates to "play well".

0:03:44 > 0:03:47A year later, the company made its first official toys,

0:03:47 > 0:03:52a wooden duck and a building game called Kirk's Sand Game.

0:03:52 > 0:03:58Fast forward to 1949, and the company is now making around

0:03:58 > 0:04:00200 different plastic and wooden toys, including the automatic

0:04:00 > 0:04:06binding bricks, an early version of the bricks we know today.

0:04:06 > 0:04:12Almost ten years later in 1958, the Lego brick is invented

0:04:12 > 0:04:17and patented, protecting the idea from other people copying it.

0:04:17 > 0:04:21Since then, the toy has grown and developed.

0:04:21 > 0:04:25And now around 75 million items are sold every year in more than 140

0:04:25 > 0:04:29different countries.

0:04:29 > 0:04:32The Lego brick has just celebrated its 60th birthday,

0:04:32 > 0:04:35and the bricks made in 1958 still work the same way

0:04:35 > 0:04:39as the ones made today.

0:04:39 > 0:04:41Finally, how cool is this?!

0:04:41 > 0:04:45It's the International Wind Games in Spain.

0:04:45 > 0:04:49200 flyers from all over the world competed as indoor skydivers.

0:04:49 > 0:04:55Organisers want it to become an Olympic sport in 2020.

0:04:55 > 0:04:56Wow!

0:04:56 > 0:04:59That's it from me.

0:04:59 > 0:05:00Have a great evening.
