:02:57. > :02:59.Researchers in Botswana have made an exciting new discovery.

:03:00. > :03:04.African elephants already hold the title for largest

:03:05. > :03:06.land animal but now, they might be about to break another

:03:07. > :03:13.Researchers in Botswana found that elephants like these guys only need

:03:14. > :03:19.That's roughly 14 hours a week - compared to around 56 hours needed

:03:20. > :03:23.for humans and roughly 112 for cats.

:03:24. > :03:28.The study even worked out how they're sleeping.

:03:29. > :03:31.By placing a monitor in elephants' trunks and fitting a collar

:03:32. > :03:35.that detects movement, the researchers found they usually

:03:36. > :03:39.snooze standing and only lie down every few nights.

:03:40. > :03:42.It's thought elephants sleep so little because they have to be

:03:43. > :03:48.They also need a lot of food to power their big bodies and prefer

:03:49. > :03:55.to spend their time eating or searching for their next snack.
