:00:40. > :00:44.First, the eight-year-old boy who has been writing letters to people

:00:45. > :00:50.all over the world. He never expected to get any replies. 780

:00:51. > :00:53.letters later, this is his story. Hi, my name's Toby and

:00:54. > :00:58.I'm eight years old. Three years ago I asked my mum to

:00:59. > :01:02.help me with a special project. I read a book called

:01:03. > :01:04.The Letters From New Zealand and I wanted to speak to people

:01:05. > :01:08.around the world to find out I started writing letters to places

:01:09. > :01:14.like the South Pole and got Just before my sixth birthday I got

:01:15. > :01:21.a response back from the South Pole and I even got a "happy

:01:22. > :01:25.birthday, Toby" banner. I have written really

:01:26. > :01:27.800 letters and it has been really good

:01:28. > :01:31.handwriting practice. And the most exciting

:01:32. > :01:34.thing happened. All the letters have been

:01:35. > :01:39.turned into this book! People send me fridge

:01:40. > :01:40.magnets, pop-up books But they also include

:01:41. > :01:48.what their lives are like and what school is like,

:01:49. > :01:57.so I do love all my responses. This just shows that you can make

:01:58. > :02:09.friends all over the world. Next, an American army dog called

:02:10. > :02:12.Lucca is being awarded The brave dog is getting

:02:13. > :02:22.the highest award possible from an animal charity to recognise

:02:23. > :02:28.the work she carried mission she was injured after

:02:29. > :02:43.stepping on an explosive device. She recovered, though,

:02:44. > :02:46.and has been flown to the UK First, more than a million migrants

:02:47. > :02:50.and refugees have come to Europe Now a new plan to deal with the huge

:02:51. > :02:55.numbers of people asking for help has begun, though it's

:02:56. > :02:57.already causing problems. Migrants and refugees arriving

:02:58. > :03:01.in Europe, just some of the many Already this year over 150,000

:03:02. > :03:05.people, lots of them children, Many make the dangerous journey

:03:06. > :03:10.to escape war and poverty in countries like Syria,

:03:11. > :03:12.Iraq and parts of Africa. One of the first places

:03:13. > :03:15.they usually get to is Lesbos, European governments have found it

:03:16. > :03:19.difficult to cope with the huge numbers of those needing help

:03:20. > :03:21.and they've spent a long time Well, the BBC's Sarah Rainsford

:03:22. > :03:28.is in Greece, where many migrants are leaving by boat as part

:03:29. > :03:30.of a new plan to deal I am in the harbour here on Lesbos

:03:31. > :03:38.and that white passenger ferry over there, the small one

:03:39. > :03:39.that's marked Turyol, is one of the ones that was used

:03:40. > :03:43.to carry dozens of people today It is just a couple of hours' boat

:03:44. > :03:48.ride across the sea. The people taken back had

:03:49. > :03:52.all crossed to Greece in recent weeks, but so many migrants have

:03:53. > :03:55.been heading to Europe that the EU decided it needs new rules

:03:56. > :03:57.to cope with that. It thinks that many of these

:03:58. > :04:02.people could be quite safe staying in Turkey and so according

:04:03. > :04:05.to the new rules anybody who can't prove that they need to stay

:04:06. > :04:08.here in Europe faces being deported. protesting against that and the most

:04:09. > :04:18.upset about it of all are of course They're now living in a detention

:04:19. > :04:22.camp here on Lesbos and the ones I've been talking to say

:04:23. > :04:24.they are very worried But if their request to stay

:04:25. > :04:30.here in Europe on the island is rejected then they,

:04:31. > :04:32.too, could soon be on ferries like that one

:04:33. > :04:35.there and heading back to Turkey and we could see even

:04:36. > :04:37.more serious protests. And if you want to know more

:04:38. > :04:40.about the migrant and refugee crisis then we have loads more

:04:41. > :04:41.information online. A new set of stamps will be launched

:04:42. > :04:44.today, celebrating the genius The ten stamps show quotes

:04:45. > :04:50.from Shakespeare's writing and have been released to commemorate 400

:04:51. > :04:55.years since the writer died. That's all from me, Newsround's back
