:00:30. > :00:32.First, more than a million migrants and refugees have come to Europe
:00:33. > :00:38.Now a new plan to deal with the huge numbers of people asking for help
:00:39. > :00:40.has begun, though it's already causing problems.
:00:41. > :00:47.Migrants and refugees arriving in Europe, just some of the many
:00:48. > :00:55.Already this year over 150,000 people, lots of them children,
:00:56. > :01:01.Many make the dangerous journey to escape war and poverty
:01:02. > :01:06.in countries like Syria, Iraq and parts of Africa.
:01:07. > :01:09.One of the first places they usually get to is Lesbos,
:01:10. > :01:15.European governments have found it difficult to cope with the huge
:01:16. > :01:18.numbers of those needing help and they've spent a long time
:01:19. > :01:29.Well, the BBC's Sarah Rainsford is in Greece, where many migrants
:01:30. > :01:33.arrived trying to get into Europe, and now some are leaving by boat
:01:34. > :01:36.as part of a new plan to deal with the migrant crisis -
:01:37. > :01:41.I am in the harbour here on Lesbos and that white passenger ferry over
:01:42. > :01:42.there, the small one that's marked Turyol,
:01:43. > :01:46.is one of the ones that was used to carry dozens of people today
:01:47. > :01:50.It is just a couple of hours' boat ride across the sea.
:01:51. > :01:52.The people taken back had all crossed to Greece in recent
:01:53. > :01:55.weeks, but so many migrants have been heading to Europe that the EU
:01:56. > :01:58.decided it needs new rules to cope with that.
:01:59. > :02:00.It thinks that many of these people could be quite safe
:02:01. > :02:03.staying in Turkey and so according to the new rules anybody who can't
:02:04. > :02:06.prove that they need to stay here in Europe faces being deported.
:02:07. > :02:13.protesting against that and the most upset about it of all are of course
:02:14. > :02:18.They're now living in a detention camp here on Lesbos and the ones
:02:19. > :02:20.I've been talking to say they are very worried
:02:21. > :02:27.But if their request to stay here in Europe on the island
:02:28. > :02:29.is rejected then they, too, could soon
:02:30. > :02:31.be on ferries like that one there and heading back to Turkey
:02:32. > :02:35.and we could see even more serious protests.

:02:55. > :02:57.The ten stamps show quotes from Shakespeare's writing and have
:02:58. > :03:02.been released to commemorate 400 years since the writer died.
:03:03. > :03:04.Next, an American army dog called Lucca is being awarded
:03:05. > :03:08.The brave dog is getting the highest award possible
:03:09. > :03:11.from the PDSA animal charity, to recognise the work she carried
:03:12. > :03:17.Lucca led over 400 patrols while in the army and on her final
:03:18. > :03:20.mission she lost her leg after stepping on an
:03:21. > :03:24.She recovered well, though, and is being flown over to the UK
:03:25. > :03:29.Next to the eight-year-old boy who's spent the last three years writing
:03:30. > :03:34.Toby started sending letters to countries thousands of miles away
:03:35. > :03:42.and never expecting to get any replies.
:03:43. > :03:44.Almost 800 letters later, this is his story.
:03:45. > :03:47.Hi, my name's Toby and I'm eight years old.
:03:48. > :03:53.I like space, fossils and film-making.
:03:54. > :03:56.Three years ago I asked my mum to help me with a special project.
:03:57. > :03:59.I read a book called The Letters From New Zealand
:04:00. > :04:02.and I wanted to speak to people around the world to find out
:04:03. > :04:08.I started writing letters to places like the South Pole and got
:04:09. > :04:15.Just before my sixth birthday I got a response back from the South Pole
:04:16. > :04:21.and I even got a "happy birthday, Toby" banner.
:04:22. > :04:23.I have written nearly 800 letters and it
:04:24. > :04:26.has been really good handwriting practice.
:04:27. > :04:29.And the most exciting thing happened.
:04:30. > :04:32.All the letters have been turned into this book!
:04:33. > :04:35.People send me fridge magnets, pop-up books
:04:36. > :04:42.But they also include what their lives are like
:04:43. > :04:50.and what school is like, so I do love all my responses.
:04:51. > :05:07.This just shows that you can make friends all over the world.

:05:14. > :05:15.A fossil has been found in Herefordshire containing
:05:16. > :05:18.a 430-million-year-old sea creature that apparently dragged its babies
:05:19. > :05:21.Nicknamed Kite Runner, this 1cm creature is not directly
:05:22. > :05:24.related to any other type of animal alive today.
:05:25. > :05:27.Next, two of the Queen's homes are going to be getting a makeover.

:05:50. > :05:53.It's hoped that he'll be released back into the wild
