0:00:07 > 0:00:09It's 8:15am on Wednesday the 5th of April.

0:00:09 > 0:00:11You're watching Newsround with me, Jenny.

0:00:11 > 0:00:13Keep watching.

0:00:13 > 0:00:15For one big gem, this record-breaking pink diamond.

0:00:15 > 0:00:18And it's a small world after all.

0:00:18 > 0:00:27The planet's landmarks built in miniature.

0:00:29 > 0:00:33First, we're talking about this.

0:00:33 > 0:00:36It might not look like much, but this little packet of nut paste

0:00:36 > 0:00:38is helping to save thousands of children's lives around

0:00:38 > 0:00:39the world right now.

0:00:39 > 0:00:42It's helping kids who don't have enough to eat.

0:00:42 > 0:00:45One place they are being used is South Sudan, in Africa,

0:00:45 > 0:00:46where a famine has been declared.

0:00:46 > 0:00:50BBC reporter Anna Foster sent us this.

0:00:50 > 0:00:53This is a special nutrition centre where mums bring their babies

0:00:53 > 0:00:56and just over there they are being weighed and they have a special tape

0:00:56 > 0:00:59that goes round the baby's arm to see whether or not

0:00:59 > 0:01:00it is malnourished.

0:01:00 > 0:01:02This area is called Unity State.

0:01:02 > 0:01:04It is about the size of Manchester.

0:01:04 > 0:01:09290,000 children are severely malnourished and need serious help,

0:01:09 > 0:01:12and they come to places like this to get it.

0:01:12 > 0:01:16There are a lot of special things that can be given to the children

0:01:16 > 0:01:18when they have had not enough to eat that really helps

0:01:18 > 0:01:20improve their health.

0:01:20 > 0:01:20Emily is from Unicef.

0:01:20 > 0:01:23What you are holding here is something, it looks really

0:01:23 > 0:01:27small in a packet but this can save a child's life.

0:01:27 > 0:01:30It can.

0:01:30 > 0:01:34This is a package of nuts, oil and milk, and essentially

0:01:34 > 0:01:38what this does is it nourishes the baby really quickly so a child

0:01:38 > 0:01:41will take this for about a week.

0:01:41 > 0:01:45You can see the difference in a couple of days.

0:01:45 > 0:01:49They put their weight back on and it completely changes their appearance.

0:01:49 > 0:01:51It is a bit of a miracle food really.

0:01:51 > 0:01:53Yeah.

0:01:53 > 0:01:55This would be the same as a meal, would it?

0:01:55 > 0:01:57Exactly.

0:01:57 > 0:02:02They can take between one and three a day between seven and 14 days

0:02:02 > 0:02:06and this will completely transform the children that are

0:02:06 > 0:02:08severely malnourished.

0:02:08 > 0:02:10This is really special stuff.

0:02:10 > 0:02:12You can see some of the children taking it.

0:02:12 > 0:02:15A box is about ?60.

0:02:15 > 0:02:21Every box saves a child's life in South Sudan.

0:02:21 > 0:02:22Thanks, Anna.

0:02:22 > 0:02:25You can find out more about the crisis in South Sudan,

0:02:25 > 0:02:29and why it's happening, in our guide at Newsround online.

0:02:29 > 0:02:32In other news, it was Zlatan Ibrahimovic who saved the day

0:02:32 > 0:02:35for Manchester United at the last minute and rescued a point

0:02:35 > 0:02:38against Everton last night.

0:02:38 > 0:02:43He scores.

0:02:43 > 0:02:45This 94th-minute penalty, in injury time, meant United drew 1-1,

0:02:45 > 0:02:49following a first-half goal from Phil Jagielka.

0:02:49 > 0:02:52The result means the Red Devils stay fifth in the table.

0:02:52 > 0:02:54It's an amazing run of 20 matches unbeatable,

0:02:54 > 0:02:56but too many draws at home.

0:02:56 > 0:02:59Because of that we are in the position we are

0:02:59 > 0:03:03because we have the spirit, the defensive organisation.

0:03:03 > 0:03:06We build well.

0:03:06 > 0:03:07Not today.

0:03:07 > 0:03:10We did not create a lot today.

0:03:10 > 0:03:14We do not score enough goals.

0:03:14 > 0:03:16Next to a man who's set a big goal for himself,

0:03:16 > 0:03:18to cycle around the world in 80 days.

0:03:18 > 0:03:22Watch this.

0:03:22 > 0:03:26If there's one thing this guy loves it's riding his bike.

0:03:26 > 0:03:30But he's not one for a leisurely cycle, oh no, Mark Beaumont wants

0:03:30 > 0:03:34to be in the record books.

0:03:34 > 0:03:37In 2008, he cycled around the world in 194 days

0:03:37 > 0:03:40and set a new world record.

0:03:40 > 0:03:43His next adventure took him from Alaska in North America

0:03:43 > 0:03:46to Argentina in South America.

0:03:46 > 0:03:50And in 2015 he cycled the length of Africa from Cairo

0:03:50 > 0:03:53to Capetown in just 42 days.

0:03:53 > 0:03:55But nearly 10 years on from his world record,

0:03:55 > 0:04:01it's been broken by other riders and now stands at 123 days.

0:04:01 > 0:04:03Challenge accepted!

0:04:03 > 0:04:07When it actually comes to the world, that 18,000 mile journey,

0:04:07 > 0:04:11I guess my greatest concern is leg one, going from Paris

0:04:11 > 0:04:15through to Beijing through places like Russia, Mongolia, China.

0:04:15 > 0:04:19There is a lot which is outwith our control as a team.

0:04:19 > 0:04:22But Mark doesn't want to just beat the existing record

0:04:22 > 0:04:27by a couple of days, he wants to do it in 80 days.

0:04:27 > 0:04:30It's an 18,000 mile journey, which means he'll have to bike more

0:04:30 > 0:04:34than 200 miles each day to set the record.

0:04:34 > 0:04:37And as a warm up he's going on a seaside trip around Britain,

0:04:37 > 0:04:40biking around the coastline to test his endurance.

0:04:40 > 0:04:44I need a journey like this to get myself into shape

0:04:44 > 0:04:46so my support team know exactly what they are doing

0:04:46 > 0:04:50in preparation for the world.

0:04:50 > 0:04:54We are going to be trying to hold what will be sub 80 days,

0:04:54 > 0:04:55about 240 miles a day.

0:04:55 > 0:04:58I am also quite excited to do a big adventure on home soil.

0:04:58 > 0:05:02If it all goes well on his warm up round Britain, Mark is planning

0:05:02 > 0:05:08to start his round the world record attempt in July.

0:05:08 > 0:05:11From one record-breaker to another.

0:05:11 > 0:05:13A rare pink diamond has become the most expensive gemstone

0:05:13 > 0:05:17ever sold in an auction.

0:05:17 > 0:05:22The 60-carat "Pink Star" is the largest of its kind ever found.

0:05:22 > 0:05:24It was bought for more than ?57 million in Hong Kong

0:05:24 > 0:05:27by a jeweller called Chow Tai Fook.

0:05:27 > 0:05:31And something else small to finish.

0:05:31 > 0:05:34Have a look at these amazing miniature cites from around

0:05:34 > 0:05:39the world that have been built in New York City in America.

0:05:39 > 0:05:42Artists have spent ages making models of cites like Paris in France

0:05:42 > 0:05:44and Moscow in Russia.

0:05:44 > 0:05:47There are even British landmarks such as Tower Bridge or even

0:05:47 > 0:05:49Buckingham Palace in London with the flags flying.

0:05:49 > 0:05:53That's all from me.

0:05:53 > 0:05:55Newsround's back on CBBC this afternoon at 4:20pm with Leah.

0:05:55 > 0:06:00Have a brilliant day at school.

0:06:02 > 0:06:04Hello, Book Clubbers - there's a brand-new debate

0:06:04 > 0:06:06over on CBBC Book Club page on the website.
