:02:05. > :02:09.It gives people a thrill and helps them really understand how

:02:10. > :02:17.For me, personally, elephants play a big role in the ecosystem,

:02:18. > :02:23.As they walk, with their big bodies, they clear pathways and make

:02:24. > :02:28.It is a really good example where you can see elephants

:02:29. > :02:32.de-barking a tree and you can see a beautiful tusk mark,

:02:33. > :02:35.and how they use the tusks to take off the bark.

:02:36. > :02:38.This will fall down eventually and create a whole new ecosystem

:02:39. > :02:44.One of the ways people hope to stop the illegal hunting and killing

:02:45. > :02:49.of elephants is to catch the people doing it, poachers.

:03:10. > :03:13.It is all over Africa and elephant populations are suffering

:03:14. > :03:15.big time but the use of these working canines,

:03:16. > :03:18.working dogs, the poachers know we can track them

:03:19. > :03:22.and we will indicate the presence of them at night.

:03:23. > :03:27.Without anti-poaching efforts in Africa we will lose

:03:28. > :03:29.all of our wildlife, never mind just the elephant

:03:30. > :03:34.which is getting hammered now, but we will lose everything.

:03:35. > :03:38.Anti-poachers and rangers together hope to stop the crisis and keep

:03:39. > :03:48.these awesome creatures around for generations to come.

:03:52. > :03:54.Everyone wants to help protect elephants but they can't always

:03:55. > :04:00.One suggestion, to put all elephants in the top group

:04:01. > :04:02.of protected animals, didn't happen as most

:04:03. > :04:05.countries didn't think that was the right idea.

:04:06. > :04:08.But one big announcement was a call for a ban on the buying

:04:09. > :04:11.and selling of all ivory, not just between countries

:04:12. > :04:17.Countries don't have to obey that, but elephant charities are really

:04:18. > :04:20.pleased this has happened, so some progress has been made

:04:21. > :04:23.but getting everyone to agree on the best way to save elephants
