0:00:04 > 0:00:06This is Newsround on Saturday morning!

0:00:06 > 0:00:08I'm Ricky live on CBBC.

0:00:08 > 0:00:09Coming up:

0:00:09 > 0:00:13The twin seal pups that have got lots of experts excited.

0:00:13 > 0:00:15And, Newsround's countdown to Christmas continues - we'll be

0:00:15 > 0:00:20hearing about festive traditions.

0:00:29 > 0:00:32First this morning to India, where power is returning to most parts

0:00:32 > 0:00:34of the southern city of Chennai, following devastating flooding.

0:00:34 > 0:00:37A massive operation is underway to try to get food and medicines to

0:00:37 > 0:00:40the thousands of people affected.

0:00:40 > 0:00:47The rains were the heaviest in 100 years.

0:00:47 > 0:00:50Now to a UK first, a grey seal has given birth to twins.

0:00:50 > 0:00:53They were born on a beach in Norfolk in the east of England.

0:00:53 > 0:00:56Here's Jenny with the story.

0:00:56 > 0:01:00This mother seal is very protective of her pups, and so she should be.

0:01:00 > 0:01:03These babies are extremely precious to her,

0:01:03 > 0:01:06and very rare here in the UK.

0:01:06 > 0:01:09They are thought to be the first grey seal twins known to

0:01:09 > 0:01:11be born in the world here.

0:01:11 > 0:01:13Well, we are overjoyed.

0:01:13 > 0:01:16It is something of a miracle from what I am told by everybody.

0:01:16 > 0:01:19We are absolutely positive the mother behind me definitely

0:01:19 > 0:01:22gave birth to these two pups.

0:01:22 > 0:01:27The mum will spend three weeks feeding her pups,

0:01:27 > 0:01:29and then she will leave.

0:01:29 > 0:01:31The twins will stay on the beach here for another three weeks,

0:01:31 > 0:01:35looking after themselves, waiting to shed their white fur.

0:01:35 > 0:01:38But, before they disappear into the sea, it is hoped they will

0:01:38 > 0:01:42be DNA tested to confirm officially that they are twins.

0:01:42 > 0:01:45We have to wait for the pups to be weaned from their mother,

0:01:45 > 0:01:47and when that has happened, we can then consider taking DNA

0:01:47 > 0:01:52and proving that they are twins.

0:01:52 > 0:01:56The pair of pups will rely on their mother to look after them.

0:01:56 > 0:01:58If not, they will be fed by animal charity the RSPCA

0:01:58 > 0:02:03until they are strong enough to head back into the waters.

0:02:06 > 0:02:09It's December 5th today, and day five of our advent calendar.
