:00:00. > :00:00.Leeds United. That is it for our very first MotD Kickabout. Join me

:00:00. > :00:00.on Friday for the build-up to the weekend's fixtures.

:00:00. > :00:12.Good morning and a happy news year to you. I'm Ricky with Monday's top

:00:13. > :00:18.stories. On the way: why there could soon be loads more jobs in space.

:00:19. > :00:28.And Ellie tops the chart more than a year after her album's release.

:00:29. > :00:31.It's been a difficult few weeks for thousands of people as the wild

:00:32. > :00:34.weather continues to grip parts of Britain. This morning, more coastal

:00:35. > :00:39.flooding is expected, as strong winds batter the west coast of

:00:40. > :00:42.England and Wales. South West Scotland and the eastern coast of

:00:43. > :00:44.Northern Ireland are particularly at risk. The Enviroment Agency has

:00:45. > :00:47.issued 90 flood warnings. Forecasters say we can expect

:00:48. > :00:51."colossal waves" whipped up by winds of 70mph. They also say that

:00:52. > :01:04.December 2013 was the stormiest on record.

:01:05. > :01:06.Parts of America are preparing for record-breaking temperatures. A

:01:07. > :01:11.winter storm has already covered areas of Canada and north-eastern

:01:12. > :01:14.US, with up to 60 centimetres of snow. Schools in Chicago are closing

:01:15. > :01:20.and officials are telling people to stay indoors. This whether

:01:21. > :01:23.combination we are seeing, with all of the snow and cold, it's unlike

:01:24. > :01:30.anything we have seen in decades in this area. I can't emphasise that

:01:31. > :01:46.enough. The cold really scares me. So cold that this cup of water

:01:47. > :01:49.freezes in midair. Next, imagine becoming an astronaut

:01:50. > :01:53.or helping launch a rocket into space. I'm sure these sound like

:01:54. > :01:56.dream jobs to some of you, but the good news is they might not be

:01:57. > :02:00.impossible dreams. The Chancellor, George Osborne, who is in charge of

:02:01. > :02:03.the country's money, says he wants the UK space industry to treble over

:02:04. > :02:07.the next 20 years. That should mean loads more jobs for when you grow

:02:08. > :02:10.up, whether it's helping to send up the satellites that make mobile

:02:11. > :02:14.phones work or making devices like this one to map the stars.

:02:15. > :02:17.Next, Bandy is not a game that many of you will have heard of. It's

:02:18. > :02:21.basically ice hockey played on a sheet of ice the size of a football

:02:22. > :02:24.pitch, with a ball instead of a puck. Unsurprisingly, the countries

:02:25. > :02:27.that win major competitions are generally from colder climates like

:02:28. > :02:30.Sweden, Finland or Russia. But when this year's World Championships take

:02:31. > :02:33.place later this month in Siberia, there will be a new contender...

:02:34. > :02:36.From Africa. Nel's got more. It is like ice hockey but it is

:02:37. > :02:41.played with a ball rather than a part. This is Somalia's national

:02:42. > :02:44.team. The hot country is not usually somewhere you would associate with

:02:45. > :02:48.sport played in freezing temperatures. That is, until now.

:02:49. > :02:53.The players grew up in the boiling heat of Mogadishu. With a high crime

:02:54. > :02:57.rate and a lack of prospects, lots of Somalis have read the country to

:02:58. > :03:00.try to start a better life elsewhere. These players moved to

:03:01. > :03:07.Sweden and they were spotted playing in a local football team. At the

:03:08. > :03:10.time, none of them could skate. They have courage. They have been part of

:03:11. > :03:16.things we don't ever want to dream about. Going on ice and on skates,

:03:17. > :03:24.it was nothing for them. In just a few weeks, they will represent

:03:25. > :03:32.Somalia in Siberia. Representing my country is crazy! It is an

:03:33. > :03:35.indescribable feeling. Temperatures there can plummet to -50. To

:03:36. > :03:40.prepare, they have spent time in giant freezer. They know that

:03:41. > :03:44.against teams like Russia and Sweden, they don't stand much of a

:03:45. > :03:48.chance. But for them, even if they don't score a goal, it is really the

:03:49. > :03:52.taking part that counts. As you heard earlier, Manchester

:03:53. > :03:55.United are out of the FA Cup after suffering a shock home defeat to

:03:56. > :03:58.Swansea. The score was 1-1 until this late goal in the 90th minute

:03:59. > :04:01.from Wilfried Bony gave Swansea their first ever victory at Old

:04:02. > :04:04.Trafford. It's United's second defeat on the trot, so the

:04:05. > :04:09.pressure's on for manager David Moyes.

:04:10. > :04:12.More than a year after Ellie Goulding released her second album,

:04:13. > :04:15.it's finally reached the top of the charts. It's taken 12 months to get

:04:16. > :04:18.there. The album, called Halcyon, features five Top 40 singles,

:04:19. > :04:21.including her debut number one, 'Burn'. In the singles chart, US

:04:22. > :04:27.rapper pit bull scored the first number one of the year with Timber,

:04:28. > :04:32.featuring Kesha. And it's been a while since we had a

:04:33. > :04:35.panda story, so here's one to start 2014. The first giant panda to be

:04:36. > :04:39.born in Taiwan has made her public debut in front of thousands of

:04:40. > :04:42.visitors. Yuan Zai was born 180 days ago. Her mother, Yuan Yuan, and

:04:43. > :04:46.father, Tuan Tuan, came to Taiwan from China in late 2008. She was

:04:47. > :04:52.active for 20 minutes before taking a nap. She currently sleeps for 20

:04:53. > :04:57.hours a day. We are back in half an hour. If you

:04:58. > :04:58.want more, go online. See you soon. Goodbye.
