0:00:01 > 0:00:03behind the scenes at CBBC show Jamie Johnson.

0:00:03 > 0:00:05See you.

0:00:05 > 0:00:06Good morning!

0:00:06 > 0:00:08I'm Jenny and this is Newsround, coming up.

0:00:08 > 0:00:11Your thoughts on two new Saturday night singing shows.

0:00:11 > 0:00:20And why this baby elephant is taking swimming lessons.

0:00:23 > 0:00:28First up, the last orca show will take place

0:00:28 > 0:00:30at SeaWorld, in San Diego, in America this weekend.

0:00:30 > 0:00:35The company has faced a lot of criticism over the last few years

0:00:35 > 0:00:37about the treatment and welfare of its killer whales

0:00:37 > 0:00:40and the decision to end killer whale shows was made in 2016.

0:00:40 > 0:00:43Martin has been finding out more.

0:00:43 > 0:00:45Graceful, powerful and intelligent, we're talking about orcas, or killer

0:00:45 > 0:00:48whales as they're better known.

0:00:48 > 0:00:51For many years these whales have performed in shows across America

0:00:51 > 0:00:53at amusement parks run by the company SeaWorld.

0:00:53 > 0:00:58But, not anymore.

0:00:58 > 0:01:03In 2015 Californian authorities banned SeaWorld from breeding

0:01:03 > 0:01:04I'll

0:01:04 > 0:01:05Orcas in captivity.

0:01:05 > 0:01:07And after a lot of pressure from celebrities and animal rights

0:01:07 > 0:01:10groups, in 2016 SeaWorld announced that they were putting an end

0:01:10 > 0:01:12to killer whale performance shows in their parks.

0:01:12 > 0:01:14This weekend marks the final show at one of those parks

0:01:14 > 0:01:23in San Diego in California.

0:01:23 > 0:01:26SeaWorld currently has killer whale shows at two other parks in America,

0:01:26 > 0:01:28in Texas and Florida but they will be

0:01:28 > 0:01:30gradually phased out too.

0:01:30 > 0:01:33Instead of performing tricks, the whales will now be used to help

0:01:33 > 0:01:34teach people more about orca life.

0:01:34 > 0:01:37Animal rights groups have praised SeaWorld for making positive steps

0:01:37 > 0:01:40in the right direction, but some still think more can be

0:01:40 > 0:01:43done to help protect the animals welfare.

0:01:43 > 0:01:45Some are suggesting the whales should be moved to sanctuaries

0:01:45 > 0:01:50by the sea where they can live in an environment closer to that

0:01:50 > 0:01:52of their natural homes in the wild.

0:01:52 > 0:01:55The fight for killer whale rights seems set

0:01:55 > 0:01:58to continue into the future, but things are definitely changing

0:01:58 > 0:02:04for these underwater giants.

0:02:04 > 0:02:07If you've been missing the X Factor and Strictly Come Dancing, fear not,

0:02:07 > 0:02:11because this weekend sees the launch of TWO Saturday night

0:02:11 > 0:02:13singing contests - The Voice, and new show,

0:02:13 > 0:02:15'Let It Shine'.

0:02:15 > 0:02:18But with all these talent shows hitting our screens,

0:02:18 > 0:02:23we wanted to know if you are still interested.

0:02:23 > 0:02:26Christmas is over, January is here and that sees the start

0:02:26 > 0:02:29of a new BBC One singing show but not the Voice.

0:02:29 > 0:02:33After five years on the channel that has moved

0:02:33 > 0:02:36to a new home on rival ITV.

0:02:36 > 0:02:41The BBC has gone for a new music programme with Gary Barlow leading

0:02:41 > 0:02:44the search for the cast of the Take That musical.

0:02:44 > 0:02:47Both shows will go head-to-head in a battle to dominate

0:02:47 > 0:02:50Saturday night television.

0:02:50 > 0:02:55Reality singing shows have had a difficult time recently.

0:02:55 > 0:03:01December's X Factor final was the least watched in its history.

0:03:01 > 0:03:03Last year's The Voice saw viewers vanishing.

0:03:03 > 0:03:06What do you think about the new shows about to start?

0:03:06 > 0:03:09I would probably prefer the new show Let It Shine because I think it's

0:03:09 > 0:03:10time for a new show.

0:03:10 > 0:03:13Some of these shows are getting quite repetitive.

0:03:13 > 0:03:16You see the same things.

0:03:16 > 0:03:22This new show is a new concept so it will be a lot better.

0:03:22 > 0:03:25It's happened with a lot of shows like Strictly I used to love,

0:03:25 > 0:03:30Britain's Got Talent I used to love.

0:03:30 > 0:03:33Now, maybe it's because I'm getting older, and getting bored and I watch

0:03:33 > 0:03:36something else on my phone.

0:03:36 > 0:03:39I'm not too bothered about the TV shows but I would rather watch

0:03:39 > 0:03:43movies like Harry Potter.

0:03:43 > 0:03:45I think I might watch Let It Shine because I've already watched

0:03:45 > 0:03:50the Voice so we know the theme of what it will be about.

0:03:50 > 0:03:52Like the Voice, it's been on for a while,

0:03:52 > 0:03:58sometimes it can get repetitive.

0:03:58 > 0:04:01I think both of them will be great because of the spinning

0:04:01 > 0:04:02chairs on The Voice.

0:04:02 > 0:04:07I like new show will be showing something different.

0:04:07 > 0:04:15The Voice is a good show because they don't judge

0:04:15 > 0:04:17people on their looks, they judge on how they sing.

0:04:17 > 0:04:21I think I would prefer to watch the new show Let It Shine

0:04:21 > 0:04:23because it is different and I will not get bored

0:04:23 > 0:04:25by something I have seen a few years ago.

0:04:25 > 0:04:30I am going to watch both of them because they both look good.

0:04:30 > 0:04:33An injured baby elephant in Thailand, has learnt to walk

0:04:33 > 0:04:37again, with the help of a special swimming pool.

0:04:37 > 0:04:40The 5-month-old, called Clear Sky, is the first elephant to get this

0:04:40 > 0:04:44kind of water therapy, after she lost her foot in a trap.

0:04:44 > 0:04:47Despite most elephants loving the water, she was a little nervous.

0:04:47 > 0:04:50But her vet says she's already showing signs of improvement.

0:04:50 > 0:04:52That's all from me, Newsround's back right here at 8.15.

0:04:52 > 0:04:58Bye!
