0:00:30 > 0:00:33First, a massive earthquake has toppled buildings and caused huge

0:00:33 > 0:00:36damage in the south of Taiwan, off the coast of China.

0:00:36 > 0:00:38Rescue teams have been working, throughout the night,

0:00:38 > 0:00:42to save hundreds of people who live there.

0:00:42 > 0:00:47The earthquake struck close to the southern city of Tainan,

0:00:47 > 0:00:50on the small island of Taiwan, in the early hours of the morning.

0:00:50 > 0:00:53It's an area where earthquakes often happen,

0:00:53 > 0:00:55but they aren't usually so big.

0:00:55 > 0:00:57I just woke up suddenly and the whole building was shaking.

0:00:57 > 0:01:00It was quite loud, noisy and I wasn't sure how long

0:01:00 > 0:01:04it was going to last.

0:01:04 > 0:01:06Firefighters, police and the army

0:01:06 > 0:01:08are all working together to rescue people and animals

0:01:08 > 0:01:11from the rubble.

0:01:11 > 0:01:13But a lot of places are hard to reach.

0:01:13 > 0:01:17Shelters are being set up for people whose homes have been badly damaged.

0:01:17 > 0:01:21There are power cuts too and public transport has been stopped.

0:01:21 > 0:01:24Exactly how much damage has been done is still not known,

0:01:24 > 0:01:30but rescuers continue to work hard to make people safe.

0:01:30 > 0:01:32OK, let's get some sport now.
