:00:00. > :00:09.Hello, I'm Jenny, live with your last Newsround on this World Book
:00:10. > :00:14.Day, a global celebration of writers, illustrators and everything
:00:15. > :00:17.brilliant about reading. You've been sending us amazing pictures today of
:00:18. > :00:25.you guys dressed as characters from your favourite books. But earlier,
:00:26. > :00:27.we sent Leah on a quest to find out what makes a really good story.
:00:28. > :00:31.Check this out. Earlier this morning, in a brightly
:00:32. > :00:35.lit studio in Salford, I met the winner of Blue Peter's best story
:00:36. > :00:39.award, Katherine Rundell. And it got me thinking what goes into making a
:00:40. > :00:43.really good book. Well, I met up with Katherine once again to find
:00:44. > :00:47.out from her what goes into making a fantastic read. Of my three top
:00:48. > :00:54.tips, the first one would be character. You need a character who
:00:55. > :00:58.you feel strongly about. It doesn't matter if you love them, it just
:00:59. > :01:02.matters that you care what happens to them. The type of characters I
:01:03. > :01:06.like are ones with a kind heart. I kind of like them starting off to be
:01:07. > :01:09.shy and then when they come to the end they're a person that stands up
:01:10. > :01:16.for themself. They're not selfish, and they share. My second tip would
:01:17. > :01:20.be a story, a great story that makes you want to keep turning the page
:01:21. > :01:24.and stay up late at night to finish it and really, really makes you
:01:25. > :01:29.care. There's a mystery, like they go into a big hole. You get into the
:01:30. > :01:45.middle and it starts to get interesting. Like, something that
:01:46. > :01:49.shows courage. But the most important thing is you just pick up
:01:50. > :01:52.a book, get reading and writing your own stories because who knows, one
:01:53. > :02:00.day you could end up picking up a top prize on World Book Day.
:02:01. > :02:10.You can see more of your brilliant World Book Day costumes over on the
:02:11. > :02:12.website. And check out three top tips from Children's Laureate,
:02:13. > :02:14.Malorie Blackman. The Paralympic Winter Games start in
:02:15. > :02:17.Sochi tomorrow, and 15-year-old Milly Knight will be team GB's flag
:02:18. > :02:20.bearer at the grand opening ceremony. Milly is Great Britain's
:02:21. > :02:23.youngest ever Winter Paralympian and will compete in the Alpine skiing
:02:24. > :02:30.event next week. She spoke earlier about how she found out she would be
:02:31. > :02:34.flying the flag. So, this morning I was told that I had a meeting. I
:02:35. > :02:41.wasn't sure what it was about at all, so I was, like, "Have I done
:02:42. > :02:45.anything wrong? Am I in trouble?" And then I was in the meeting, and
:02:46. > :02:48.they were, like, "So, as you might be aware, the opening ceremony is
:02:49. > :02:53.tomorrow, and we'd like you to be our flag bearer." And I was, like...
:02:54. > :02:57.It was amazing! And join us in the morning, when
:02:58. > :03:00.we'll have a full preview of the Winter Paralympics.
