:00:00. > :00:00.Hi, I'm Jenny with your last Newsround update this Sunday
:00:00. > :00:09.afternoon. Coming right up: The theatre show to
:00:10. > :00:13.get kids super-keen on science, and...
:00:14. > :00:16.Feathers fly as people all over the world join in world Pillow Fight
:00:17. > :00:22.day! This is Newsround.
:00:23. > :00:29.First, how much food gets wasted in your home? A new report out today
:00:30. > :00:32.from a House of Lords committee says far too much food's being thrown
:00:33. > :00:35.away across Europe each year. It says 90 million tonnes of food is
:00:36. > :00:39.wasted annually throughout Europe and 15 million tonnes here in the
:00:40. > :00:42.UK. The report calls for more action to stop the waste and says buy-one,
:00:43. > :00:45.get-one free offers in supermarkets encourage shoppers to buy more food
:00:46. > :00:51.than we need. But not everyone agrees that these offers are the
:00:52. > :00:54.biggest part of the problem. Buy-one, get-one free - there isn't
:00:55. > :00:57.a lot of evidence that it contributes significantly to food
:00:58. > :01:00.waste. Clearly, if the retailers have evidence that it does, and
:01:01. > :01:09.Tesco's did last year on baggage salads, they can stop those
:01:10. > :01:12.promotions. The main reasons why we are wasting food - there are two
:01:13. > :01:16.main categories: either we are cooking too much and not using the
:01:17. > :01:20.leftovers, or we are letting it go off before we use it. That comes
:01:21. > :01:26.down to us, and the way we plan and shop.
:01:27. > :01:27.Next, an explosive new theatre performance is aiming to get more
:01:28. > :01:46.kids interested in science. There's been chaos in Sheffield
:01:47. > :01:49.today after the city's half marathon was called off because of a lack of
:01:50. > :01:53.water for runners. Race organisers say they had been let down by a
:01:54. > :01:56.water supplier, and decided it wasn't safe enough to go ahead.
:01:57. > :01:59.5,000 runners were due to take part. Despite the cancellation, some of
:02:00. > :02:02.them still ran the course anyway. We heard it was cancelled, and
:02:03. > :02:03.before we knew it is everyone just started running and made the race
:02:04. > :02:05.for ourselves. Sheffield people did fantastic.
:02:06. > :02:14.Everywhere we went, people were giving out water.
:02:15. > :02:17.Next, an explosive new theatre performance is aiming to get more
:02:18. > :02:20.kids interested in science. Banging balloons, fireballs, and freezing
:02:21. > :02:23.flowers are all part of The Energy Show at the Science Museum in
:02:24. > :02:25.London. Here's a sneak preview: Do not try this at home!
:02:26. > :02:28.This demonstration shows the chemical reaction when you ignite a
:02:29. > :02:32.hydrogen balloon - and the explosive result! It's one of the live
:02:33. > :02:36.experiments that's part of The Energy Show at the Science Museum in
:02:37. > :02:41.London. The idea is to have a lot of fun - and to learn a bit of science
:02:42. > :02:44.at the same time. Most hopefully won't have seen
:02:45. > :02:47.musical lightning before. I'd never seen it before yesterday! It is
:02:48. > :02:51.incredible, and it is generally lightning in a cage. I want them to
:02:52. > :02:56.go and find out about how it all worked.
:02:57. > :03:00.And there's a virtual Einstein to guide the audience through the
:03:01. > :03:05.tricky bits! The play is about two science students trying to prove
:03:06. > :03:09.their knowledge of energy. I learned that you can make
:03:10. > :03:13.lightning in your kitchen. I never knew that you'd be able to do that.
:03:14. > :03:16.I thought that only the sky could do it.
:03:17. > :03:20.I liked it when they tried to blow up the liquid nitrogen.
:03:21. > :03:24.The show is soon going on tour across England and Wales. And the
:03:25. > :03:31.hope is that it'll help show that science can be sparky!
:03:32. > :03:35.Next - can Britain make it into the Semi Finals of the Davis Cup, for
:03:36. > :03:39.the first time in 33 years? Well that's out of Andy Murray's hands
:03:40. > :03:42.now. He needed to win his singles match against world number thirteen
:03:43. > :03:45.Fabio Fogini to send Britain through, but Andy struggled with a
:03:46. > :03:48.very noisy Italian crowd and his opponent played brilliantly. So
:03:49. > :03:50.Britain's fate now lies with James Ward, who's up against Andreas Seppi
:03:51. > :03:54.in the final match. England's women cricketers have lost
:03:55. > :03:56.to Australia in the final of the World Twenty20 tournament in
:03:57. > :03:59.Bangladesh. Charlotte Edwards' team set Australia a target of 106 to win
:04:00. > :04:03.and couldn't prevent the Aussies from reaching that target with ease,
:04:04. > :04:13.with plenty of time and wickets to spare. The result is a repeat of
:04:14. > :04:16.2012's final. Next - get ready for our regular
:04:17. > :04:18.round-up of the weirdest news stories of the week. Take it away
:04:19. > :04:24.Nel! First up: robot police. A team of
:04:25. > :04:32.engineers in America have developed the Nightscope K5. It's about 1.5
:04:33. > :04:38.metres tall, and has special built in cameras to detect when things go
:04:39. > :04:42.wrong. When you get on a plane, there is
:04:43. > :04:50.usually a bit of time before take-off. What you do to pass the
:04:51. > :04:54.time? If you were to cast off The Lion King musical, you belt out a
:04:55. > :04:58.rendition of the Circle of Life. The Australian cast did on a plane in
:04:59. > :05:03.Brisbane as they were waiting for take-off. Now that's what I call
:05:04. > :05:10.in-flight entertainment! Have you ever imagined what it would
:05:11. > :05:14.be like to have special powers? Well, one young boy's dreams came
:05:15. > :05:17.true when his dad used some pretty nifty special effects to turn him
:05:18. > :05:21.into a superhero. It's all down to his dad Daniel's skills with a
:05:22. > :05:23.computer - but then James's dad does work for world-famous animation
:05:24. > :05:36.company DreamWorks, which made films like Shrek and Kung Fu Panda. I
:05:37. > :05:42.wonder if he'd turned me into Wonder Woman?
:05:43. > :05:46.Last up - feathers have been flying all over the planet to celebrate
:05:47. > :05:49.World Pillow Fight Day! Hundreds of people took part in this pillow
:05:50. > :05:53.fight in Hong Kong - with some teenagers using it as an excuse to
:05:54. > :05:59.let off steam before exam time! The annual event has been going since
:06:00. > :06:02.2008. That's all from me, Newsround's back
:06:03. > :06:05.bright and early tomorrow morning. But if you can't wait until then,
:06:06. > :06:06.there's loads of stuff on the
