0:00:04 > 0:00:05Happy Friday!
0:00:05 > 0:00:11I'm Jenny, and don't go anywhere, because we've got all the top
0:00:11 > 0:00:11stories from around the world, live on CBBC.
0:00:11 > 0:00:12Coming up:
0:00:12 > 0:00:16We meet the UK's Eurovision Song Contest contenders.
0:00:16 > 0:00:21And the wildfires that continue to rage in Canada.
0:00:29 > 0:00:33First, this weekend wildlife legend Sir David Attenborough
0:00:34 > 0:00:35will celebrate his 90th birthday.
0:00:35 > 0:00:37He's travelled across the world, witnessed the birth of new species
0:00:37 > 0:00:43and captured the nation with his TV programmes.
0:00:43 > 0:00:43One person he's hugely inspired is CBBC's very own Steve Backshall,
0:00:43 > 0:00:48who sent us this message for his idol.
0:00:48 > 0:00:50My earliest memories of Sir David Attenborough
0:00:50 > 0:00:53were watching his Zoo Quest series, which were quite a long time ago
0:00:53 > 0:00:59now, and they were real expeditions.
0:00:59 > 0:01:03I think they were my first time that I got to see unbelievable adventures
0:01:03 > 0:01:05like that in really exotic places, and I instantly thought,
0:01:05 > 0:01:06that is amazing.
0:01:06 > 0:01:16That's what I want to do with my life.
0:01:16 > 0:01:16Hello!
0:01:16 > 0:01:16There have been so many favourite moments.
0:01:16 > 0:01:16It is very difficult to choose any one.
0:01:16 > 0:01:17But he has completely transformed my view
0:01:17 > 0:01:20of the wild world.
0:01:20 > 0:01:23These engaging chicks are so inquisitive that you only
0:01:23 > 0:01:27have to sit down to their own level for them all to gather around
0:01:27 > 0:01:29you to try and discover what sort of creature you are.
0:01:29 > 0:01:33I think perhaps my very favourite would be a moment when he
0:01:33 > 0:01:37was in South Georgia on the edge of Antarctica,
0:01:37 > 0:01:41and he was in front of two wandering albatross as they sat on their nest,
0:01:41 > 0:01:47going through this extraordinary ritual, this beautiful dance,
0:01:47 > 0:01:51as they were essentially reaffirming their bonds,
0:01:51 > 0:01:54having been apart for a year or perhaps more.
0:01:54 > 0:01:57And now, that has even more significance to me, because I have
0:01:57 > 0:02:01had the chance to go back there, to Bird Island, to that exact same
0:02:01 > 0:02:06spot, and to sit, as Sir David did, behind two birds going through this
0:02:06 > 0:02:06same unbelievable dance.
0:02:06 > 0:02:10They will stay together for the rest of their lives.
0:02:10 > 0:02:14And that, when you come to think of it, is very unusual.
0:02:14 > 0:02:21So Sir David, I hope you have a wonderful birthday,
0:02:21 > 0:02:21and I hope that there are many more years of your superb,
0:02:21 > 0:02:23scintillating programmes.
0:02:23 > 0:02:27I, for one, am definitely going to be watching.
0:02:27 > 0:02:29Next, people are having to move again to escape the wildfires
0:02:29 > 0:02:32in Canada.
0:02:32 > 0:02:36Thousands of people had to leave their homes
0:02:36 > 0:02:37when the fires started at the beginning of this week.
0:02:37 > 0:02:40The flames are still burning strongly, and there are worries
0:02:40 > 0:02:42people could get trapped by the fires if they
0:02:42 > 0:02:43don't move again.
0:02:43 > 0:02:45And in footie, Liverpool fans get excited -
0:02:45 > 0:02:50you're in the Europa League final!
0:02:50 > 0:02:50Trailing Villarreal 1-0 from the first leg,
0:02:50 > 0:02:52Liverpool came back to win 3-0 on the night.
0:02:52 > 0:02:55Goals from Daniel Sturridge and Adam Lallana steered
0:02:55 > 0:02:57the team to victory, following an own-goal
0:02:57 > 0:03:03early in the match.
0:03:03 > 0:03:03Tennis now, and Andy Murray has reached the quarterfinals
0:03:03 > 0:03:04of the Madrid Open, beating Frenchman Gilles Simon
0:03:04 > 0:03:08in straight sets, 6-4 and 6-2.
0:03:08 > 0:03:12The defending champ and Britain's number one will now play
0:03:12 > 0:03:15Tomas Berdych in the last eight.
0:03:15 > 0:03:19There's just over a week to go until the Eurovision Song Contest
0:03:19 > 0:03:23final takes place in Sweden.
0:03:23 > 0:03:26This year the UK will be represented by Joe and Jake
0:03:26 > 0:03:27with their song You're Not Alone.
0:03:27 > 0:03:33We sent Hayley to find out how they're getting on.
0:03:33 > 0:03:33Joe and Jake!
0:03:33 > 0:03:38Congratulations, Joe and Jake, you are the people's choice.
0:03:38 > 0:03:42You're off to Stockholm to represent the United Kingdom at
0:03:42 > 0:03:45the Eurovision Song Contest.
0:03:45 > 0:03:47Tell me about this magic musical duo.
0:03:47 > 0:03:48How did it all begin?
0:03:48 > 0:03:51We met on series four of The Voice.
0:03:51 > 0:03:53Things just kicked off very easily, you know, we became friends pretty
0:03:53 > 0:03:55much straight from the off, because we found similarities
0:03:55 > 0:03:58in quite a few things.
0:03:58 > 0:04:01Once the show was over, for both of us, then we started
0:04:01 > 0:04:03meeting up as friends, and then we just thought, why don't
0:04:03 > 0:04:08we work on things musically?
0:04:08 > 0:04:08And then we decided to form a duo, and 12 months later we are here.
0:04:08 > 0:04:09# I'll be your parachute...#
0:04:09 > 0:04:12In May, you are about to take over the world
0:04:12 > 0:04:13at the Eurovision Song Contest.
0:04:13 > 0:04:15How are you feeling about that?
0:04:15 > 0:04:16It's not long now.
0:04:16 > 0:04:17It's not long at all.
0:04:17 > 0:04:18We are excited.
0:04:18 > 0:04:20We're obviously nervous, but we are really excited.
0:04:20 > 0:04:25We signed up this and we are so proud to be representing the UK.
0:04:25 > 0:04:30Just can't wait to go out there, sing our song to an audience
0:04:30 > 0:04:31of 200 million people. sing our song to an audience
0:04:31 > 0:04:32No pressure at all! sing our song to an audience
0:04:32 > 0:04:33It is going to be amazing. sing our song to an audience
0:04:33 > 0:04:35Eurovision you travel, like, all around the world,
0:04:35 > 0:04:41you perform your song, and you really mix with the fans.
0:04:41 > 0:04:41And obviously, that is an experienced in itself -
0:04:41 > 0:04:45how dedicated everyone is to the Eurovision Song Contest,
0:04:45 > 0:04:47and how massive it is in some is to the Eurovision Song Contest,
0:04:47 > 0:04:48countries' cultures. is to the Eurovision Song Contest,
0:04:48 > 0:04:50Have you got any tips for people who are looking
0:04:50 > 0:04:55at you and aspiring to be like you?
0:04:55 > 0:04:55Definitely - just never to give up.
0:04:55 > 0:04:57I mean, if you've got a dream, nothing is impossible, is it?
0:04:57 > 0:04:59So you know, when me and Jake were 13, 14,
0:04:59 > 0:05:02if someone would have told us that wewere in the position
0:05:02 > 0:05:08we are in now, we probably would have been like,
0:05:08 > 0:05:08no, we wouldn't be!
0:05:08 > 0:05:08It's just a case of keep working hard.
0:05:08 > 0:05:09If you want something enough, you've just got to
0:05:09 > 0:05:11work for it, and one day you'll get there.
0:05:11 > 0:05:12Say Eurovision!
0:05:12 > 0:05:13Eurovision!
0:05:13 > 0:05:15Oh, that's brilliant!
0:05:15 > 0:05:20If that's just not enough Eurovision for you, head online,
0:05:20 > 0:05:20where you can find out all about the competition itself,
0:05:20 > 0:05:22and watch every one of the UK's past winning songs.
0:05:22 > 0:05:23Enjoy!
0:05:23 > 0:05:26Next, as more of us head to the hills for summer walks,
0:05:26 > 0:05:31National Parks, like the Peak District, are finding it
0:05:31 > 0:05:31more difficult to look after all the paths.
0:05:31 > 0:05:33Now a crowdfunding campaign has started, asking for people to give
0:05:33 > 0:05:37some money to help repair the paths and stop more damage.
0:05:37 > 0:05:41What we see here is a really good example of some of the issues that
0:05:41 > 0:05:42can cause path erosion.
0:05:42 > 0:05:45So on the left, there's a corner here, so people have obviously
0:05:45 > 0:05:48tried to cut it off, and that's formed a path there.
0:05:48 > 0:05:49We've also got this other path here.
0:05:49 > 0:05:51With more and more paths, eventually the whole hill could
0:05:51 > 0:05:55end up kind of washing away.
0:05:55 > 0:05:57That's all from the team this morning, but Newsround's back
0:05:57 > 0:06:01right here at 4:20pm.
