:00:15. > :00:20.better. You are live with Newsround. I'm Leah with today's best stories,

:00:20. > :00:26.including the sewer the size of a bus. Find out which X Factor judge

:00:26. > :00:30.is calling it quits. First, to a big debate about how

:00:30. > :00:34.much of the money you donate to charity should be spent on paying

:00:34. > :00:40.those who work for them. Today, some of the UK's leading charities have

:00:40. > :00:45.been told off for giving their bosses too much. Here is more.

:00:45. > :00:49.You are fired. You are fired. are hired. A top job usually comes

:00:49. > :00:54.with lots of money. But when you are the boss of a charity, how much

:00:54. > :00:58.should you be paid? The man who looks at charities in England and

:00:58. > :01:02.Wales says they might be paying bosses too much. He says that might

:01:02. > :01:07.annoy ordinary people who donate their hard-earned cash.

:01:07. > :01:11.The lots of organisations getting fewer donations as people struggle

:01:11. > :01:17.with money, William Shawcross reckons charities need to keep a

:01:17. > :01:25.closer eye on what their Chief Executives get. According to the

:01:25. > :01:30.Daily Telegraph, the British Red Cross was paid 184,000 last year to

:01:30. > :01:37.the bosses. Save the Children boss got 160,000 and Christian Aid's

:01:37. > :01:41.boss got over 126,000. How does that compare to other professions? A

:01:41. > :01:46.qualified nurse earns 21,000, a primary schoolteacher can earn

:01:46. > :01:51.30,000, a top Doctor can take home around 90,000, the man in charge of

:01:51. > :01:58.the BBC is paid 450,000 a year. Footballer Jermaine Defoe got 3

:01:58. > :02:02.million in 2012, so is the Chief Executive of a charity worth more

:02:02. > :02:06.than 100,000? I can understand very easily, though looking at the

:02:06. > :02:10.figures and frankly being horrified. You have to bear in mind that to run

:02:10. > :02:13.an organisation like this, you need someone with the skills, expertise

:02:13. > :02:18.and experience. Some say for charities to survive, they need to

:02:18. > :02:22.act more like businesses, but the big question is, should the money we

:02:22. > :02:32.raise be spent on the bosses unstead of the people who need it the most?

:02:32. > :02:43.

:02:43. > :02:48.You have been having your say on the Britain's most successful gymnast,

:02:48. > :02:54.Beth Tweddle, has announced she's retiring. She won bronze at London

:02:54. > :02:57.2012 and three world and six European golds to her name too. She

:02:57. > :03:02.also won Dancing on Ice but says she doesn't have enough time to train

:03:02. > :03:07.in. The showbiz world, X Factor judge Louis Walsh is calling it a

:03:07. > :03:11.day, leaving after the next series to focus on creating a new boy band.

:03:11. > :03:13.Watch out One Direction. Jedward who Louis mentored told Newsround they

:03:13. > :03:18.are looking forward to another year of the show.

:03:18. > :03:22.Well, this year is the tenth anniversary of X Factor. It's cool

:03:22. > :03:28.that Sharon's back, the original cast is getting back. Hopefully this

:03:28. > :03:32.year, they'll find someone totally different. If you haven't eaten your

:03:32. > :03:36.dinner yet, look away. We are about to show you what gave sewer workers

:03:36. > :03:39.in London a surprise when they investigated a mysterious blockage.

:03:39. > :03:43.Here is Martin with the gruesome details.

:03:43. > :03:51.People go about their daily business. Something is lurking

:03:51. > :04:00.underground. The attack of the...

:04:00. > :04:04.It doesn't look that threatening. This lump of fat is the biggest

:04:04. > :04:09.discovered after people living in Surrey found they couldn't flush

:04:09. > :04:13.their toilets. The sewer was almost completely

:04:13. > :04:17.clogged with over 15 tonnes of fat, caused by people pouring oil down

:04:18. > :04:21.the drain and throwing things like baby wipes down the loo.

:04:21. > :04:26.They should never ever put these into the sewers because they reach

:04:26. > :04:30.points like this, they harden and block the sewers which means sewage

:04:30. > :04:35.backs up and it can back up through people's toilets.

:04:35. > :04:38.The fat bug swelled to the size of a double-decker bus and took workmen

:04:38. > :04:41.three weeks to blast it using water jets.

:04:41. > :04:51.The next time you are about to throw something down the drain, just have
