:00:19. > :00:23.Evening, news fans. Hayley and Ricky in the studio for Tuesday's

:00:23. > :00:27.Newsround. Sit back, because we've got loads to tell you about. Coming

:00:27. > :00:30.Rescuers fight to save a whale stranded on the Lincolnshire coast.

:00:30. > :00:40.Plus, we chat to the British athletics world champ who's already

:00:40. > :00:41.

:00:41. > :00:45.aiming even higher. Motivation isn't a problem. Obviously, I have

:00:45. > :00:48.won every major Championship apart from the Olympics. I want to put

:00:48. > :00:52.that right and get a gold medal in from the of the home fans.

:00:52. > :00:55.But before all that, we're taking you back to the famine in East

:00:55. > :00:56.Africa because for many people out there, the hunger crisis is getting

:00:56. > :01:00.even worse. There's a warning that three-

:01:00. > :01:02.quarters of a million people could die in the next few months unless

:01:02. > :01:06.they get urgent help. It's especially bad in Somalia which has

:01:06. > :01:09.also been torn apart by war. But a new radio show is trying to help

:01:09. > :01:13.the most vulnerable people, and earlier today, I went to visit

:01:13. > :01:17.their London studio. This special radio show is called

:01:17. > :01:27.Rescue. It's hoped it'll be a lifeline to the millions of

:01:27. > :01:32.

:01:32. > :01:35.refugees in East Africa who are fleeing the famine.

:01:35. > :01:43.These are the people they're trying to reach - families who have left

:01:43. > :01:45.their homes in search of food and water. The team from BBC Somali

:01:45. > :01:49.have been speaking to refugees and answering their questions, from how

:01:49. > :01:51.to register at a refugee camp to bigger issues about the amount of

:01:51. > :01:54.aid getting through. Many of these people do not know what to expect.

:01:54. > :01:57.They're fleeing from famine, and in some cases, a conflict, but they

:01:57. > :02:03.have never been to the new areas they're going to, and they have

:02:03. > :02:12.never been in this situation, and we try to focus on what their needs

:02:12. > :02:15.are. The problem in East Africa isn't getting any better - the

:02:15. > :02:18.drought is worsening. And aid agencies say they still can't reach

:02:18. > :02:27.some of the worst affected areas in Somalia because of on-going

:02:28. > :02:31.fighting. But the real difficulty is reaching the Somalis. Not

:02:31. > :02:37.everyone has a radio, and getting the message out there is proving to

:02:37. > :02:40.be tough. When I visited Daadaab in Kenya - which is the biggest

:02:40. > :02:43.refugee camp in the world - I noticed many people had mobile

:02:43. > :02:47.phones. They're easy to get hold of and don't cost very much. Yusuf

:02:47. > :02:49.told me he hopes to broadcast the show to mobile phones so that even

:02:49. > :02:58.more people can get the vital information they need to survive.

:02:58. > :03:01.Next to an incredible sea rescue. A 23-year-old woman has been pulled

:03:01. > :03:04.to safety after falling overboard from a ferry 20 miles out at sea.

:03:04. > :03:08.It happened last night on a crossing from Newcastle to the

:03:08. > :03:12.Netherlands. These are the pictures taken from the RAF rescue

:03:12. > :03:15.helicopter. It was pitch dark, and the woman was in the very cold

:03:15. > :03:18.water for 20 minutes. But thanks to the quick thinking of the captain,

:03:18. > :03:21.who reversed the ferry, she was found and bought back onboard. She

:03:21. > :03:24.was then lifted to the helicopter and taken to hospital. She's now

:03:24. > :03:26.back home - incredibly just suffering from the cold and

:03:26. > :03:30.swallowing too much sea water. must have had some fairly slick

:03:30. > :03:34.drills to get them out of the water in the time they did. You can't

:03:34. > :03:37.imagine how difficult it is to find a head in the Black Sea, even with

:03:37. > :03:39.all the equipment we've got. I think they did extremely well to

:03:39. > :03:43.get her out in time. Rescuers have also been working all

:03:43. > :03:46.day to try to free a young whale that got stuck on a shore in north

:03:46. > :03:51.lincolnshire Things weren't looking good first thing this morning when

:03:51. > :03:55.most of its body had sunk into mud. Over 50 people, including the RSPCA,

:03:55. > :04:00.had to work fast to free the nine metre calf. And brilliantly, they

:04:00. > :04:08.did it! The whale is now free and will hopefully be re-united with

:04:08. > :04:14.its mother who was apparently spotted swimming nearby. Wildfires

:04:14. > :04:20.are raging across Texas. More than 1,000 firefighters are trying to

:04:20. > :04:27.contain it. Some are so fierce, it's proving impossible to control.

:04:28. > :04:31.They're spreading and fast. This wildfire is now 16 miels wide and

:04:31. > :04:36.has destroyed almost 1,500 homes. It's too big to tackle from the

:04:36. > :04:41.ground, so helicopters have been called in. Texas has had its worst

:04:41. > :04:45.drought for 50 years, so the dry land combined with high winds means

:04:45. > :04:51.the fires are starting quickly. So far over 5,000 people have been

:04:51. > :04:54.forced to leave their homes - some in a real hurry. There was a

:04:54. > :04:59.volunteer fire department truck coming through on the loud speaker

:04:59. > :05:04.telling everyone to evacuate now, coming up and down the street,

:05:04. > :05:08.getting louder each time. It's surreal. You think about it. It's

:05:08. > :05:11.in every board game you ever did - what would you do if you had 15

:05:11. > :05:15.minutes to evacuate? You never think it's going to happen to you.

:05:15. > :05:25.Sure enough, it is. Firefighters are desperately trying to get the

:05:25. > :05:26.

:05:26. > :05:29.situation under control, but say the next 48 hours will be crucial.

:05:29. > :05:31.Britain's medal winners are back home from the Athletics World

:05:31. > :05:34.Championships in South Korea. They flew in last night. Mo Farah

:05:34. > :05:38.returning a star after his brilliant gold in the 5,000 metres

:05:38. > :05:39.and silver in the 10,000. Get used to seeing his face an awful lot

:05:39. > :05:43.between now and next year's Olympics.

:05:43. > :05:46.And we've managed to catch up with the other big winner of last week,

:05:47. > :05:50.Dai Greene. He became the first Brit to win the 400 metres hurdles

:05:50. > :05:55.in more than 40 years. You've got your medal with you. Let's have a

:05:55. > :05:59.quick look at that. What will you be doing with that when you get

:05:59. > :06:02.home? I don't know. I have only just got a new house, so I'll

:06:02. > :06:08.probably stick it on the mantlepiece on display for everyone.

:06:08. > :06:14.I don't want to leave it out of my sight for the moment. You looked so

:06:14. > :06:18.calm crossing the line. You have to believe you will win. The way it

:06:18. > :06:22.panned out wasn't perfect, but I was just happy to come away with

:06:22. > :06:27.the victory. I always believed I could win. How do you stay fresh

:06:27. > :06:32.and keep focused with around a year to go to the Olympics? I have a

:06:32. > :06:36.tiger on my back after last week's exploits. I have to focus on my

:06:36. > :06:41.training. I have a great coach, and he'll keep me on the straight and

:06:41. > :06:45.narrow, he will. Motivation isn't a problem. Obviously, every

:06:45. > :06:49.Championship is par for the Olympics, so I want to come away

:06:49. > :06:55.with a gold medal in front of the home fans. Will you watching the

:06:55. > :07:00.England-Wales game closely? course I will. I will be cheering

:07:00. > :07:06.on Wales. My girlfriend is English. How does that work out? I cheer for

:07:06. > :07:13.one team. She cheers for the other. Whoever cheers loudest wins. There

:07:13. > :07:17.will be lots of shouting at the telly tonight. England and Wales go

:07:17. > :07:20.head to head at Wembley. Despite being a massive 113 places below

:07:20. > :07:22.England in the FIFA rankings, Wales manager Gary Speed's hoping his

:07:22. > :07:24.side can upset England's Euro 2012 qualification. And England boss

:07:24. > :07:28.Fabio Capello certainly isn't expecting an easy game.

:07:28. > :07:35.It's a tough game because the Welsh are playing really well. I watched

:07:35. > :07:42.the game as they played against Montenegro. They played really well

:07:42. > :07:45.in the counterattack. It will be a really dangerous game.

:07:45. > :07:47.And good luck to Scotland and Northern Ireland who have must-win

:07:47. > :07:52.games against Lithuania and Estonia tonight too.
