:00:27. > :00:32.Good evening, everyone. I'm Ricky, he's Ore. This is Newsround.
:00:32. > :00:38.have all the big stories coming up. Including: We find out about the
:00:38. > :00:43.wheels, power the Olympics, best athletes. We'll look at the big
:00:43. > :00:48.fight for the right to run America. The 100 metres is always one of the
:00:48. > :00:53.most watched events of any Games. Tonight, four superstars go head-
:00:53. > :01:00.to-head for the title of the world's fastest Paralympian. With
:01:00. > :01:06.two artificial legs they are a second slower than Usain Bolt's
:01:06. > :01:10.fastest time. Here is the low-down. Tonight the
:01:10. > :01:15.Olympic Stadium will witness raw speed. The four main contenders
:01:15. > :01:19.have a lot to prove. Oscar Pistorius - the original Blade
:01:19. > :01:24.Runner has won five Paralympic golds. He is out for revenge after
:01:24. > :01:28.losing out in the 200 metres. Alan Oliveira - the man who pipped
:01:28. > :01:33.Pistorius in that race. All the attention has been on his blades
:01:33. > :01:40.rather than his speed. Can the Brazilian demonstrate there's no
:01:40. > :01:46.doubting he is the fastest? Jerome Singleton - the current world
:01:46. > :01:50.champion over 100 metres. He has worked at NASA. It is not rocket
:01:50. > :01:55.science, hey, just run faster than the others.
:01:55. > :02:00.Jonnie Peacock. 19-year-old Peacock has qualified fastest for the final.
:02:00. > :02:07.Can he beat Pistorius to win gold for GB? Whoever wins, one thing is
:02:07. > :02:10.for sure - it's going to be fast! It will be a great race. Now we
:02:10. > :02:17.know about Sir Chris Hoy and Mo Farah. Now we can add the name of
:02:17. > :02:24.Sarah Storey to the list of GB's London legends. Today the cyclist
:02:24. > :02:30.equalled the record for the most amount of golds. She won the C4
:02:30. > :02:34.road race. I have been along to the Olympic
:02:34. > :02:37.Park to see if some of you agree it is changing attitudes about
:02:37. > :02:41.disability. People with disabilities can do things that
:02:41. > :02:49.abled-body people can do. They are not as different as people might
:02:49. > :02:52.think. I am visually impaired. I think it is really good because the
:02:52. > :03:00.Paralympicic -- Paralympic people have good skills. It was
:03:00. > :03:04.astonishing - it opened my eyes. When I was small, I was like not, I
:03:04. > :03:09.didn't want to touch them or see them. When I came today, to the
:03:09. > :03:13.Olympic Stadium, I thought they are amazing. It has given opportunities
:03:13. > :03:18.to disabled people to show what they can do instead of being in the
:03:18. > :03:28.background. And you guys have been telling us if the Paralympics have
:03:28. > :03:35.
:03:35. > :03:41.changed your view of disability Keep them coming in, friends.
:03:41. > :03:45.Yesterday, we got our first look at the brutal world of wheelchair
:03:45. > :03:49.rugby. The chairs take a bit of a battering. Wheelchairs are a vital
:03:49. > :03:55.part of any athlete's success. As I have been finding out they are not
:03:55. > :03:58.all the same. At the London 2012 Paralympics we
:03:58. > :04:05.have seen incredible speed, power and agility. It is fair to say that
:04:05. > :04:11.a lot of the time it's not just the athletes that have to perform, it
:04:11. > :04:16.is the wheelchairs too. I am with Hugh. He knows all about the
:04:16. > :04:21.different varieties of wheelchair. I am in an every day chair. What is
:04:21. > :04:26.this one? Defensive chair. It is designed and built to withstand the
:04:26. > :04:31.impact of wheelchair rugby, which is a very contact sport. We have
:04:31. > :04:37.the wheels slant to make the chair turn, but also to make it very
:04:37. > :04:41.solid on side impact. Now, I am in a basketball wheelchair here - what
:04:41. > :04:46.are the main differences with this? Very similar to rugby. It has
:04:46. > :04:53.slanted wheels for stability, side to side. It has a single wing at
:04:53. > :04:57.the front for contact, not to get stuck with other players.
:04:57. > :05:00.The basketball players not only have to worry about the skill of
:05:00. > :05:04.the sport, but hay have to move around as well in the chairs. These
:05:04. > :05:10.guys are giving it a go here. It is proving to be difficult.
:05:10. > :05:17.So, tell me about this - what is this? This is what we call a hand
:05:17. > :05:23.cycle. What kind of speeds do they reach? Up to 60 kilometres an hour.
:05:23. > :05:33.Shall I give it a go? Please. All right! Go.
:05:33. > :05:35.
:05:35. > :05:39.My word! That's impossible! So, OK, I am not
:05:39. > :05:43.a Paralympic champion, but now I know more about the kits that help
:05:43. > :05:47.the athletes go for gold at London 2012. OK, let's get the other news
:05:47. > :05:51.from around the world now. First, an upsetting story from France.
:05:51. > :05:55.Three members of a family on a camping holiday in the Alps have
:05:55. > :05:59.been found dead in their car. A cyclist was also killed in a
:05:59. > :06:02.reported gun attack. Two younger members of the family, girls aged
:06:02. > :06:05.four and eight, survived. Police are still trying to find out what
:06:05. > :06:09.happened. Now, it is worth remembering this kind of thing is
:06:09. > :06:14.very rare F you are worried about this story or anything you see on
:06:14. > :06:17.the news speak to your mum, dad or an adult and you can head to the
:06:17. > :06:21.Newsround website where there is news and advice. Now, to Spain,
:06:21. > :06:26.where a live bullfight has been shown on national TV for the first
:06:26. > :06:30.time in six years. The sport had been banned from the main TV
:06:30. > :06:35.channel, partly because people thought the pictures might upset
:06:35. > :06:38.kids. New politicians decided to overturn the ban. There have been
:06:38. > :06:44.complaints from animal rights' groups. Over in the States, Barack
:06:44. > :06:49.Obama starts his fight to stay on as American President. He will make
:06:49. > :06:52.a big speech to say why people should pick him as opposed to Mitt
:06:52. > :06:56.Romney. Elections take place in November. It is fair to say, he's
:06:56. > :07:02.got some big-time backing. He's got friends in high places, from film
:07:02. > :07:06.and pop stars, to chat show hosts. Barack Obama has celebrity backing.
:07:06. > :07:10.Now a former President has spoken up for him too. Bill Clinton was US
:07:10. > :07:20.President for eight years. He says Obama deserves to be voted in again.
:07:20. > :07:20.
:07:20. > :07:28.I want to nominate a man who is cool on the outside, but who burns
:07:28. > :07:31.for America on the inside. So, it is a match between Obama and
:07:31. > :07:35.the Republican candidate, Mitt Romney. What are the main issues
:07:35. > :07:39.the two men and their parties are fighting for? Health care - the
:07:39. > :07:43.main thing Obama has been criticised for is trying to provide
:07:43. > :07:47.more affordable health care for poorer people. A bit like our NHS.
:07:47. > :07:52.Romney says it is a tax on the rich. Economy - there are lots of people
:07:52. > :07:56.out of work in America. Romney blames Obama's party and says he
:07:56. > :08:01.would create new jobs. Obama's supporters say he has done well to
:08:01. > :08:05.keep the economy go going. Armed Forces - there's a big disagreement
:08:06. > :08:09.over how American troops are used abroad. Obama wants to take US
:08:09. > :08:13.troops out of Afghanistan by the end of the year. Romney says the
:08:13. > :08:16.timing is wrong and wants more spending on defence. With just
:08:17. > :08:20.eight weeks left to convince voters to support him, tonight Barack
:08:20. > :08:25.Obama will argue he has achieved a lot during his time as President
:08:25. > :08:28.and deserves four more years in power to finish what he started. I
:08:28. > :08:32.am sure you'll see some of his speech tomorrow on Newsround. We
:08:33. > :08:38.started with a raw speed, so we may as well finish with it. Ever heard
:08:38. > :08:42.of a robot faster than Usain Bolt? His name is Chet ta. He has been
:08:42. > :08:48.developed by the US military to help them in difficult situations.
