:01:03. > :01:07.At least ten people have died in Haiti since the hurricane
:01:08. > :01:09.Thousands have had to leave their homes.
:01:10. > :01:11.All this comes just six years after a massive
:01:12. > :01:19.TRANSLATION: The children have just started school and then
:01:20. > :01:22.and then their uniforms were washed away.
:01:23. > :01:24.These children were evacuated from coastal areas before
:01:25. > :01:37.Yesterday hurricane Matthew hit Key West.
:01:38. > :01:40.And it is now swirling towards the Bahamas and the US state
:01:41. > :01:43.Thousands of people are already fleeing coastal areas
:01:44. > :01:46.there before the storm hits over the next few days.
:01:47. > :01:49.But how did the storm become so strong?
:01:50. > :01:51.Here's BBC weather presenter Simon King to explain
:01:52. > :02:04.The Atlantic hurricane season runs from June to November. So in October
:02:05. > :02:11.it's no surprise to see a big Harry Kane and the Caribbean. We have had
:02:12. > :02:15.these warm waters in the Caribbean the temperatures 28, 20 9 degrees,
:02:16. > :02:20.the same as your swimming pool. That makes it a major Harry Kane hitting
:02:21. > :02:24.Haiti and Cuba over the last few days. The worst hurricane in the
:02:25. > :02:29.region for a decade. Over the next few days it is going to hit the
:02:30. > :02:35.Bahamas before moving further northward on Saturday. If it makes
:02:36. > :02:39.landfall in Florida as a major hurricane it'll be the first in over
:02:40. > :02:44.a decade, so really quite significant. This is the rainfall we
:02:45. > :02:47.will see, very strong winds, lots of rainfall and a storm surge as well
:02:48. > :02:51.so a significant impact from the Bahamas all the way up through
:02:52. > :02:54.Florida up into North and South Carolina.
:02:55. > :02:57.Moving on to some other news now - and the man who's been running
:02:58. > :02:59.pretty much non-stop for more than a year.
:03:00. > :03:01.This is the moment Ben Smith completed
:03:02. > :03:09.He set himself the challenge to raise money for anti-bullying
:03:10. > :03:12.charities, because he was targeted for being gay.
:03:13. > :03:14.Hundreds of supporters - including his partner -
