0:00:19 > 0:00:22People in Florida in the US are being told to prepare

0:00:22 > 0:00:24for the storm to hit, as it continues to power

0:00:24 > 0:00:27over the Caribbean.

0:00:27 > 0:00:27The hurricane pounded the Bahamas earlier today and is now swirling

0:00:29 > 0:00:33towards America - and getting stronger.

0:00:33 > 0:00:36Thousands of people in the coastal states have already started

0:00:36 > 0:00:38to leave for safer areas, and officials in Florida are urging

0:00:38 > 0:00:40others to evacuate as well.

0:00:40 > 0:00:43If you're watching and you're in an evacuation area, get out.

0:00:43 > 0:00:45Don't take a chance.

0:00:45 > 0:00:48Time is running out.

0:00:48 > 0:00:51This is clearly going to either have a direct hit

0:00:51 > 0:00:53or come right along our coast and we're going to have

0:00:53 > 0:00:58hurricane-force winds.

0:00:58 > 0:01:00Well, in Haiti, we're still finding out just how badly

0:01:00 > 0:01:02the country has been affected.

0:01:02 > 0:01:03Some areas have been cut off.

0:01:03 > 0:01:06It's now thought at least 69 people have died there so far.

0:01:06 > 0:01:08Ayshah has the latest.

0:01:08 > 0:01:11These aerial shots show the destruction that

0:01:11 > 0:01:14Hurricane Matthew has left behind in Haiti.

0:01:14 > 0:01:17Rescue teams are trying to reach the south-west

0:01:17 > 0:01:20of the country, where some people have lost everything.

0:01:20 > 0:01:25Homes have been destroyed by winds of up to 145 miles per hour.

0:01:25 > 0:01:28People are having to sleep and eat outside.

0:01:28 > 0:01:30Across the country -

0:01:30 > 0:01:34it's thought 350,000 people need help.

0:01:34 > 0:01:44This shanty dwelling only just managed

0:01:44 > 0:01:47to survive the hurricane-force winds but here just a few yards away -

0:01:47 > 0:01:50on what looks like wasteland - the homes of four

0:01:50 > 0:01:51families were washed away

0:01:51 > 0:01:53as the flood waters rushed down the valley.

0:01:53 > 0:01:55All this comes just six years after

0:01:55 > 0:02:00a massive earthquake hit Haiti, one of the world's poorest nations.

0:02:00 > 0:02:06More than 200,000 people died - and the country is still recovering.

0:02:06 > 0:02:08TRANSLATION: The children have just started school

0:02:08 > 0:02:12and their new uniforms were washed away.

0:02:12 > 0:02:14These children were evacuated from coastal areas

0:02:14 > 0:02:17before the storm arrived.

0:02:17 > 0:02:19They're now living in shelters and it's not clear

0:02:19 > 0:02:23when they'll get to go back home.

0:02:23 > 0:02:28Moving on and take a look at this stunning new HD footage

0:02:28 > 0:02:31of a lava lake at Hawaii's Kilauea volcano.

0:02:31 > 0:02:35The area is closed off to the public but scientists have been able to get

0:02:35 > 0:02:38close enough for this rare insight.

0:02:38 > 0:02:41It's been erupting for eight years but these high quality pictures

0:02:41 > 0:02:45reveal the base of the volcano is still incredibly powerful.

0:02:45 > 0:02:51For another look at this head to Newsround online.

0:02:51 > 0:02:54Something else with a lot of power - this runner who's just done 401

0:02:58 > 0:03:02This is the moment Ben Smith completed his final run in Bristol.

0:03:02 > 0:03:06He set himself the mammoth challenge to raise money for anti-bullying

0:03:06 > 0:03:08charities, because he was targeted for being gay.

0:03:08 > 0:03:14Ricky's been looking into just how far Ben has come.

0:03:23 > 0:03:25401 marathons, in 401 days.

0:03:25 > 0:03:26That's a lot of running.

0:03:26 > 0:03:30Just so you know...

0:03:30 > 0:03:32One marathon equals around 26 miles

0:03:32 > 0:03:37So Ben Smith has run a total of 10,513 miles!

0:03:37 > 0:03:41That's more than the distance between the UK and Australia

0:03:41 > 0:03:44Ben's been running to raise money for anti bullying charities.

0:03:44 > 0:03:50He says he was picked on when he was younger.

0:03:50 > 0:03:52During his mammoth marathon he's visited 309

0:03:52 > 0:03:59locations throughout the UK

0:03:59 > 0:04:01And popped into 101 schools along the way.

0:04:01 > 0:04:04But it has been really tough.

0:04:04 > 0:04:07He started on the 1st of September 2015.

0:04:07 > 0:04:10After 284 days he had to stop for more than a week

0:04:10 > 0:04:12because of an injury.

0:04:12 > 0:04:16Since then he's been making up

0:04:16 > 0:04:24for lost time and today he completed his challenge!

0:04:24 > 0:04:26What a guy!

0:04:26 > 0:04:28Now Ben's left many footprints around the country but this one

0:04:28 > 0:04:29definitely isn't from him!

0:04:29 > 0:04:32It was found in the Gobi desert in Asia

0:04:32 > 0:04:36and is more than a metre long.

0:04:36 > 0:04:38Scientists reckon it belonged to a Titanosaur and believe it's

0:04:38 > 0:04:39around 70 million years old!

0:04:39 > 0:04:42And from extinct creatures to one with nine lives...

0:04:42 > 0:04:44There was a dramatic rescue for this cheeky kitten that got stuck

0:04:44 > 0:04:47on the ledge of a 12th floor apartment in Singapore.

0:04:47 > 0:04:50Rescuers came and used a pole to bring the cat

0:04:50 > 0:04:52back inside to safety.

0:04:52 > 0:04:55Luckily, the cute kitten wasn't hurt and reunited with its owner.
