0:00:13 > 0:00:14Good morning.
0:00:14 > 0:00:18Ayshah here, with the stories you need to know this Wednesday.
0:00:18 > 0:00:24First up today, Fake News.
0:00:24 > 0:00:27Do you think you should have lessons in school to spot it?
0:00:27 > 0:00:30One expert says you should, and a group of kids had a go,
0:00:30 > 0:00:31in a special class.
0:00:31 > 0:00:32Hayley's got this.
0:00:32 > 0:00:33Fake news.
0:00:33 > 0:00:34Fake news.
0:00:34 > 0:00:36Fake news.
0:00:36 > 0:00:37Fake news.
0:00:37 > 0:00:38Fake news.
0:00:38 > 0:00:40It's been one of the most talked about problems of the year.
0:00:40 > 0:00:42Fake news.
0:00:42 > 0:00:46But what is it, and what does it mean to you?
0:00:46 > 0:00:48Fake news is when somebody spreads rumours that are
0:00:48 > 0:00:49not true.
0:00:49 > 0:00:52It is more like a scam, I think.
0:00:52 > 0:00:55I think fake news is rumours spread around by people to get
0:00:55 > 0:00:58attention.
0:00:58 > 0:01:01Sometimes it is so persuasive that you think that it is
0:01:01 > 0:01:04real.
0:01:04 > 0:01:07If it is serious news you can get worried and start
0:01:07 > 0:01:08thinking about stuff too much.
0:01:08 > 0:01:12It makes you feel annoyed and angry.
0:01:12 > 0:01:19It's really hard to know when things are true or not.
0:01:19 > 0:01:21When I hear something and I believe it, I
0:01:21 > 0:01:23feel like I have been tricked or something.
0:01:23 > 0:01:25Fake news normally comes down to two things.
0:01:25 > 0:01:28Firstly the news stories that are not true at all.
0:01:28 > 0:01:31They go online and are shared on social media even though
0:01:31 > 0:01:34the person writing them knows they are made up.
0:01:34 > 0:01:36Number two, stories that may have some truth
0:01:36 > 0:01:38to them but the facts are
0:01:38 > 0:01:40not clear or checked properly, or the writer
0:01:40 > 0:01:41has exaggerated some of
0:01:41 > 0:01:44it to mean what they want it to.
0:01:44 > 0:01:46Would you be able to spot it?
0:01:46 > 0:01:49These kids are taking part in a project
0:01:49 > 0:01:53looking at how much kids like you know
0:01:53 > 0:01:55about fake news and how they
0:01:55 > 0:01:57deal with it.
0:01:57 > 0:02:00It is part of a project that has been running all
0:02:00 > 0:02:01year.
0:02:01 > 0:02:04The expert in charge of it thinks that from the age of ten, kids
0:02:04 > 0:02:06should be taught more about how to spot fake news.
0:02:06 > 0:02:09Children know that fake news exists, but do they
0:02:09 > 0:02:12actually recognise it when they see it online, on TV and in the
0:02:12 > 0:02:13newspapers?
0:02:13 > 0:02:17That is where lessons would really help because children
0:02:17 > 0:02:19can stop thinking and feeling they can
0:02:19 > 0:02:20actually believe the news is
0:02:20 > 0:02:23true and might start switching off altogether and actually not showing
0:02:23 > 0:02:32an interest in the world around them.
0:02:32 > 0:02:34So what does this class think of what they learnt?
0:02:34 > 0:02:36I think it should be taught in school because
0:02:36 > 0:02:39then they can be more aware of what is surrounding them and they will
0:02:39 > 0:02:42know if it is fake or not and what to believe.
0:02:42 > 0:02:45It's taught me about fake news and it could be serious.
0:02:45 > 0:02:48If you were not taught about it, you would not know what is true.
0:02:48 > 0:02:51Now I know how to spot fake news by who
0:02:51 > 0:02:53posted it, and the likes, and where it comes
0:02:53 > 0:02:54from and if I don't know I
0:02:54 > 0:02:56will ask my friends and families.
0:02:56 > 0:03:00The best advice I would say is to look out for proper brands.
0:03:00 > 0:03:02It helps students to help other people learn
0:03:02 > 0:03:05about what fake news is about and maybe even
0:03:05 > 0:03:09teach your mum and dad and stuff.
0:03:09 > 0:03:12If it is fake, you will not know what is happening in the
0:03:12 > 0:03:13world.
0:03:13 > 0:03:16Thanks for that.
0:03:16 > 0:03:21And there loads more about this story over at Newsround online.
0:03:21 > 0:03:24Where you can also check out our guide on how to spot fake
0:03:24 > 0:03:26news when you see it, and even test yourself
0:03:26 > 0:03:30with our Fake News quiz.
0:03:30 > 0:03:32So England's cricket team are now two down in the famous Ashes
0:03:32 > 0:03:35competition in Australia.
0:03:35 > 0:03:38It took about an hour and 45 minutes for their six
0:03:38 > 0:03:42remaining batsmen to go down on the final day in Adelaide.
0:03:42 > 0:03:46The Australians won the second test by 120 runs.
0:03:46 > 0:03:48The first team to win three matches will take the Ashes.
0:03:48 > 0:03:54Now is the time for a great comeback, England!
0:03:54 > 0:03:58To the problem facing brown bears in Croatia, and the one place
0:03:58 > 0:03:59that is trying to help.
0:03:59 > 0:04:07Here's Martin.
0:04:07 > 0:04:11These Croatian brown bears are unable to survive in the wild by
0:04:11 > 0:04:16themselves, but now they are finding a new home in the country's only
0:04:16 > 0:04:20sanctuary for the furry animals. Up to 1000 bears are estimated to live
0:04:20 > 0:04:24in Croatia, particularly in the big forest areas in the middle of the
0:04:24 > 0:04:28country. But some bear cubs find themselves abandoned due to hunting
0:04:28 > 0:04:33and other reasons. This sanctuary is in a small village near forests and
0:04:33 > 0:04:37mountains which is a home to many bears. It was started in 2002 to
0:04:37 > 0:04:42look after cubs who could not survive in the wild. The animals at
0:04:42 > 0:04:47the century are divided by age into three big spaces totalling around
0:04:47 > 0:04:51six acres. There are currently nine bears living here in the hope is
0:04:51 > 0:04:54that some eventually will be released back in the wild. Brown
0:04:54 > 0:04:58bears can live up to the age of 40 and hunting in the country has
0:04:58 > 0:05:02brought the average age in the wild down to between four and eight
0:05:02 > 0:05:07years. Around 20,000 visitors are attracted to the sanctuary each year
0:05:07 > 0:05:12and the brown bear has now become a symbol of the local village. Those
0:05:12 > 0:05:13bears are adorable.
0:05:13 > 0:05:14And exciting news for space fans!
0:05:14 > 0:05:19Cue the music!
