:00:00. > :00:09.A very good morning to you. I'm Ricky with Tuesday's Newsround. On

:00:10. > :00:13.the breakfast menu today: How phones of the future could use Star

:00:14. > :00:22.Wars-style holograms. And Ant and Dec versus Ant and Dec

:00:23. > :00:26.at the TV Awards! This is Newsround. First, lots of you will be heading

:00:27. > :00:30.back to school today after the holidays. But for many this may not

:00:31. > :00:33.be as straight forward as it sounds, because thousands of homes and

:00:34. > :00:36.schools across the west coast of the UK have been damaged by bad storms.

:00:37. > :00:40.More than 100 flood warnings are still in place across the UK, and

:00:41. > :00:43.forecasters predict more heavy rain for the south and south east of

:00:44. > :00:47.England. One of the areas worst hit by the storms over the past few days

:00:48. > :00:51.was Aberyswyth in Wales, where the seafront was ripped apart. Around

:00:52. > :00:55.150 residents had to go to rescue centres during high tides last night

:00:56. > :00:57.as huge waves swept the promenade. BBC reporter Charlotte Dubenskij has

:00:58. > :01:06.been speaking to children there and sent us this report. This is the

:01:07. > :01:11.promenade, which has been battered and bruised by storms which have

:01:12. > :01:18.brought waves of around 1.8 metres high. With them, the waves have

:01:19. > :01:23.brought debris. You can see what looks at the pebble Beach, but just

:01:24. > :01:28.a few days ago they will wear stone and concrete. -- they were stone and

:01:29. > :01:35.concrete. The material has been thrown about how metres -- 12 metres

:01:36. > :01:41.towards the buildings here. The clean-up is expected to cost

:01:42. > :01:52.millions of pounds. We can't go to places around here. I am upset

:01:53. > :01:59.because we can't play. The last few days have been devastating for all

:02:00. > :02:07.around Aberystwyth. All of the sand has been coming up from the beach

:02:08. > :02:11.and damaging the roads and paths by the sea.

:02:12. > :02:13.Newsround's Jenny is in Aberyswyth today speaking to children about

:02:14. > :02:18.their experiences and finding out how you go about clearing up after a

:02:19. > :02:23.flood. Tune in at 4.20 to watch her report.

:02:24. > :02:26.Meanwhile, temperatures in parts of the United States are expected to

:02:27. > :02:30.reach record breaking lows as a blast of arctic air continues its

:02:31. > :02:33.journey across a large part of the country. Residents are being told to

:02:34. > :02:37.stay inside as the wind could make it feel as cold as minus 51 Celsius

:02:38. > :02:46.in some areas. That's much colder than your freezer!

:02:47. > :02:50.Next to Russia, where thousands of police and army officers have been

:02:51. > :02:54.drafted in to help keep the Winter Olympics safe. The Games are being

:02:55. > :02:57.held in the city of Sochi in a month's time. The move comes after

:02:58. > :03:01.two bomb attacks in Russian city of Volgograd at the beginning of last

:03:02. > :03:04.week. So far no one has claimed responsibility for the attacks but

:03:05. > :03:07.security has been stepped up. Team GB are hoping for lots of

:03:08. > :03:10.success in the Winter Olympics. One of their biggest medal hopes is

:03:11. > :03:15.snowboarder Billy Morgan. Tune in at 8.15 to see his skills.

:03:16. > :03:18.Ant and Dec are in competition with themselves at this year's National

:03:19. > :03:21.Television Awards. Saturday Night Takeaway and I'm a Celebrity... Get

:03:22. > :03:24.Me Out Of Here have both been nominated for Best Entertainment

:03:25. > :03:27.Programme. If they win, it will be the presenters' 13th consecutive

:03:28. > :03:31.National TV Award. The Voice will go up against Strictly and The X Factor

:03:32. > :03:40.in the Best Talent Show category. The winners will be revealed on 22nd

:03:41. > :03:44.January. Talking of The Voice, the big red

:03:45. > :03:47.chairs are back. The show returns on Saturday for series three with two

:03:48. > :03:50.new coaches. Watch out for flashes coming up. Aussie pop princess Kylie

:03:51. > :03:53.Minogue and Kaiser Chiefs' leading man Ricky Wilson are jumping in the

:03:54. > :03:57.swivelling seats. The show suffered falling ratings last year, so does

:03:58. > :04:01.Kylie think she can keep the viewers watching? I think that everything we

:04:02. > :04:11.have recorded so far is edge of your seat. It was for me. Who do you let

:04:12. > :04:15.go? You don't want to lose anyone. If it is about the quality and

:04:16. > :04:25.content of the show, I can't see why it would dip.

:04:26. > :04:29.Bad news for England and Arsenal footie fans - injured Theo Walcott

:04:30. > :04:32.will miss the World Cup after being ruled out for at least six months.

:04:33. > :04:36.The forward suffered a knee injury on Saturday during Arsenal's FA Cup

:04:37. > :04:40.win over Tottenham. It means he won't be going to the World Cup for

:04:41. > :04:43.a second time, after he was left out of the England squad in 2010.

:04:44. > :04:47.Last up, Star Wars-style holograms could be used to send messages in

:04:48. > :04:50.the near future, according to a company working on the hi-tech idea.

:04:51. > :04:53.A Polish firm say they've developed the Leia Display System, which works

:04:54. > :04:56.by projecting hi-resolution images on to water vapour, and this could

:04:57. > :04:58.be developed for interactive phone calls. That is your lot for now. We

:04:59. > :05:00.are back at 8.15.
