:00:00. > :00:09.Hi, I'm Ricky with your morning update. Coming right up: British

:00:10. > :00:15.snowboard slope-styler Billy Morgan on his Winter Olympic chances.

:00:16. > :00:26.And how phones of the future could use Star Wars-style holograms.

:00:27. > :00:29.First, lots of you will be heading back to school today after the

:00:30. > :00:32.holidays. But for many this may not be as straight forward as it sounds,

:00:33. > :00:36.because thousands of homes and schools across the UK have been

:00:37. > :00:39.damaged by bad storms. More than 100 flood warnings are still in place,

:00:40. > :00:43.and forecasters predict more heavy rain for the south and south east of

:00:44. > :00:47.England. One of the areas worst hit by the storms over the past few days

:00:48. > :00:50.was Aberyswyth in Wales, where the seafront was ripped apart. Around

:00:51. > :00:53.150 residents had to go to rescue centres during high tides last night

:00:54. > :01:04.as huge waves swept the promenade. BBC reporter Charlotte Dubenskij has

:01:05. > :01:07.been speaking to children there. This is the promenade at

:01:08. > :01:12.Aberystwyth, which has been battered and bruised by storms which have

:01:13. > :01:16.bought a waves of around 1.8 metres will stop with them, the waves

:01:17. > :01:22.brought a brief from the sea bed. If you look towards my feet, what you

:01:23. > :01:26.see is like a pebble Beach. A few days ago, there was stone and

:01:27. > :01:29.concrete under here. Much of it has been ripped up by the waves and

:01:30. > :01:35.throwing 12 metres before buildings here. Residents, hundreds of them,

:01:36. > :01:43.were urged to evacuate yesterday. The clean-up is expected to cost

:01:44. > :01:54.millions of pounds. We can't go to places around here. I am upset

:01:55. > :02:01.because we can't play and staff. The last few days have been devastating

:02:02. > :02:13.for Aberystwyth because all the sand has been coming up from the beach

:02:14. > :02:16.and damaging all the road and path. Jenny is in Aberystwyth later

:02:17. > :02:25.talking to children and finding out how to clear up after a flood. Tune

:02:26. > :02:28.in later to watch her report. Meanwhile, temperatures in parts of

:02:29. > :02:31.the United States are expected to reach record breaking lows as a

:02:32. > :02:35.blast of arctic air continues its journey across a large part of the

:02:36. > :02:38.country. Residents are being told to stay inside as the wind could make

:02:39. > :02:46.it feel as cold as minus 51 Celsius in some areas. That's much colder

:02:47. > :02:50.than your freezer! The Winter Olympics take place in

:02:51. > :02:54.Sochi in Russia in a month's time. Britain is hoping for a good haul of

:02:55. > :02:57.medals, and, to get you into the spirit of the Winter Games, we

:02:58. > :03:03.caught up with one British medal hope - snowboard slope-styler Billy

:03:04. > :03:08.Morgan. Billie Morgan, British snowboarding

:03:09. > :03:16.superstar. I started after skiing with my school when I was 14.

:03:17. > :03:22.Slopestyle Inc is sliding from the top of a hill to the bottom and

:03:23. > :03:26.hitting five or six features. -- slope styling. You need good aerial

:03:27. > :03:32.awareness for the jumps. You need good balance form the rails. You

:03:33. > :03:38.have to make your tricks look different to other people. If I can

:03:39. > :03:45.get on the podium, I will be so happy. I have been training for four

:03:46. > :03:55.years. It would be everything for me, for sure.

:03:56. > :03:58.Talking of the The Voice, the big red chairs are back. The show

:03:59. > :04:01.returns on Saturday for series three with two new coaches. Watch out for

:04:02. > :04:04.flashes coming up. Aussie pop princess Kylie Minogue and Kaiser

:04:05. > :04:07.Chiefs' leading man Ricky Wilson are jumping in the swivelling seats. The

:04:08. > :04:11.show suffered falling ratings last year, so does Kylie think she can

:04:12. > :04:17.keep the viewers watching? Everything we have recorded so far

:04:18. > :04:23.is edge of your seat. It was for me. Who do you let go? Who do you keep?

:04:24. > :04:35.You don't want to lose anyone. If it is about the quality of the show, I

:04:36. > :04:38.can't see why it would dip. Last up, Star Wars-style holograms

:04:39. > :04:41.could be used to send messages in the near future, according to a

:04:42. > :04:45.company working on the hi-tech idea. A Polish firm say they've developed

:04:46. > :04:47.the Leia Display System, which works by projecting hi-resolution images

:04:48. > :04:49.on to water vapour, and this could be developed for interactive phone

:04:50. > :04:52.calls. Before I go, head online to find out

:04:53. > :04:57.where Theo Walcott is going to miss out on this year's World Cup in

:04:58. > :04:59.Brazil. That is all from me for now. We are back at 4.20. Goodbye.
