:00:12. > :00:18.On the way - how prepared are we for the next solar superstorm? And

:00:18. > :00:27.out with the nowt - the school which has banned slang words.

:00:27. > :00:34.nowt., It's nothing. All this to come, but first they

:00:34. > :00:38.happen every 100-200 years, massive radiation blasts from the sun,

:00:39. > :00:43.which could cause electricity blackouts and even disrupt aircraft.

:00:43. > :00:50.They are called solar superstorms. The UK should be able to cope when

:00:50. > :00:55.the next one hits. Nel's been looking into this. The sun is an

:00:55. > :01:00.explosive place. It often throws out blasts of energy and particles.

:01:00. > :01:03.Every few hundred years though, the energy from a massive explosion

:01:03. > :01:09.hits Earth. After travelling through space at one million miles

:01:09. > :01:15.an hour. This is known as a solar superstorm. Scientists say the

:01:15. > :01:19.Earth will be hit by one at some point. The magnetic fields are

:01:19. > :01:23.incredibly strong. Basically, the magnetic field gets stressed and

:01:23. > :01:28.then breaks and explodes. That gives a big burst of energy. You

:01:28. > :01:32.can think of the magnetic field as like a rubber band. If I stretch

:01:32. > :01:38.this rubber band and I have my cloud of charged particles ready,

:01:38. > :01:44.if I then let go - the cloud of charged particleed fly off into

:01:44. > :01:50.space. The last time a super solar storm hit Earth was 1859. All over

:01:50. > :01:55.the planet people reported seeing colourful shows in the night skies.

:01:55. > :02:00.Birds began to sing thinking dawn had arrived. How prepared are we

:02:00. > :02:04.this time around? According to the findings of an expert panel the UK

:02:04. > :02:08.would cope well. The huge bursts of radiation could cause some problems

:02:08. > :02:14.- power cuts, for example, planes would be grounded and GPS

:02:14. > :02:18.satellites that help us found our way around will stop working. It

:02:18. > :02:23.has been compared to what happened when the volcano erupted in Iceland

:02:23. > :02:30.three years ago, creating a huge ash cloud. That stopped thousands

:02:30. > :02:34.of plane journeys and lasted a few weeks. Super solar storms only

:02:34. > :02:40.happen every couple of hundred years. When one hits we could be

:02:40. > :02:44.treated to some spectacular scenes in the night sky. Head over to the

:02:44. > :02:49.Newsround website to check out Joe's guide to the sun. Next,

:02:49. > :02:54.there's another warning today about the threat to elephants in Africa

:02:54. > :02:59.from poaching. Conversationists say the problems in ga bon is out of

:02:59. > :03:04.control. They say more than 11,000 elephants have been killed since

:03:04. > :03:08.2004. The demand for ivory in parts of Asia for things like jewellery,

:03:08. > :03:12.cuff links and medicines is behind the trade. It is hoped a big

:03:12. > :03:18.meeting of Governments next month will come up with tougher measures

:03:18. > :03:26.against poaching. If you are asking your teacher to pass something, do

:03:26. > :03:31.you say gizzit 'ere or, please give me it? A school has banned children

:03:31. > :03:35.from saying certain phrases in Middlesbrougher. Nowt is no longer

:03:35. > :03:39.allowed, and gizzit 'ere. The school says it is not trying to get

:03:39. > :03:43.rid of the local accent, but wants to help the children speak English

:03:43. > :03:52.properly, so they can be clearly understood. Here are some of the

:03:52. > :04:01.pupils trying out the new rules. It's nowt. No, it's nothing. I've

:04:01. > :04:08.done that. No, I have done it. say you don't know.

:04:08. > :04:18.Lots of you have been in touch with comments on in. -- on this. Here

:04:18. > :04:34.

:04:34. > :04:38.Finally, from banned words to banned kids - that is because an

:04:39. > :04:44.airline has decided to ban children from some parts of the planes. Air

:04:44. > :04:49.Asia is giving people the option to book a seat in a quiet zone where

:04:49. > :04:53.no children under 12 will be allowed. Outrageous, isn't it? It
