:00:28. > :00:31.Hi, guys. I'm Leah. He's Ore and you're with Newsround.

:00:31. > :00:33.We've been busy all day sorting through the day's biggest stories,

:00:33. > :00:37.and we've lined up some of this for you.

:00:37. > :00:40.Including my Wild 5 mission to clean up our beaches...

:00:40. > :00:44.And Harry's big Jamaican jolly looks like fun, but what's he

:00:44. > :00:47.really doing there? First to the war in Afghanistan and

:00:47. > :00:50.the news today that six British soldiers have been killed there.

:00:50. > :00:53.They were on patrol in the south of the country, when their armoured

:00:53. > :00:57.vehicle was hit by an explosion. All their families have been told.

:00:57. > :01:00.It brings the number of British troops killed during the war there

:01:00. > :01:05.to more than 400. British soldiers have been fighting

:01:05. > :01:09.in Afghanistan since 2001. They're among the international troops in

:01:09. > :01:12.the country working to keep out a terrorist group called the Taliban.

:01:12. > :01:18.In recent months the numbers of British troops being killed in the

:01:18. > :01:21.conflict had slowed down - until last night.

:01:21. > :01:28.Six soldiers had been on patrol in one of the military's most hi-tech

:01:28. > :01:34.tanks, a Warrior, when they were hit by a blast. The soldiers were

:01:34. > :01:39.in a very heavily-armoured vehicle. It's called a Warrior, caterpillar

:01:39. > :01:45.tracks, weighs 20 tonnes. They went off the highway, standard procedure,

:01:45. > :01:50.and were moving through a sparsely populated area, and were hit by an

:01:50. > :01:56.explosion. It must have been huge because it killed everyone inside.

:01:56. > :02:01.The Warrior is built to be tough. It has stroox it can go offroad to

:02:01. > :02:04.difficult place and is armed by a cannon as its main weapon. Last

:02:04. > :02:09.year I went out to Afghanistan to see what life is like for troops

:02:09. > :02:13.there and the kind of protection they have. Our equipment is amazing,

:02:13. > :02:17.and the vehicles we have are so well protected now. You could very

:02:17. > :02:20.easily drive around everywhere and not suffer too much in the way of

:02:20. > :02:25.casualties. That's why this news has come as such a shock. Many

:02:25. > :02:29.people have been paying tribute to the dead soldiers. This is a

:02:29. > :02:33.desperately sad day for our country and desperately sad, of course, for

:02:33. > :02:37.the families concerned. It is a reminder of the huge price that

:02:37. > :02:40.we're paying for the work we're doing in Afghanistan.

:02:40. > :02:44.The soldiers had only been in Afghanistan for less than a month.

:02:44. > :02:49.All British combat troops are set to withdraw in the next two years,

:02:49. > :02:53.but today's news is a reminder that the fighting is far from over.

:02:53. > :02:56.There is lots of info on Afghanistan over on the Newsround

:02:56. > :03:01.website. You can find out why the war

:03:01. > :03:11.started in the first place with our guys.

:03:11. > :03:12.

:03:12. > :03:15.OK. Yesterday he was racing the fastest man in the world and now

:03:15. > :03:19.Prince Harry's been using his feet to show off his moves in Jamaica.

:03:19. > :03:20.The Prince was wearing a pair of blue suede shoes and joined in the

:03:20. > :03:24.dancing at a youth centre in Kingston.

:03:24. > :03:26.Harry is on an official visit to the country as part of the Queen's

:03:26. > :03:31.Diamond Jubilee celebrations. I think that dance move is what we

:03:31. > :03:34.call the bogle. He's not really doing it justice!

:03:35. > :03:36.Yesterday we told you about a whale that had washed up on a beach in

:03:37. > :03:40.Skegness and the big mission to remove it.

:03:40. > :03:42.Sadly, it had died when it appeared on the sand. It's now finally been

:03:42. > :03:49.removed after being lifted onto a lorry.

:03:49. > :03:53.Plastic bags, cotton-buds and even a kitchen sink. Not my shopping

:03:53. > :03:57.list but just some of the junk that washes up on our beaches everyday

:03:57. > :04:00.across the UK. The problem is so bad over the last eight years beach

:04:00. > :04:10.litter has increased 135%. So today on Wild 5 coastal I head to the

:04:10. > :04:15.

:04:15. > :04:20.A seal caught up in fishing nets, a turtle tangled in plastic, and it's

:04:20. > :04:25.all because of this - tonnes and tonnes of rubbish - not great to

:04:26. > :04:31.look at, but examples of how our mess is swamping our coastline and

:04:31. > :04:35.washing up on our beaches. On some beaches around the UK, the Marine

:04:35. > :04:40.Conservation Society say for every step we take, there's at least two

:04:40. > :04:43.pieces of litter. There's concerns that some of our best loved marine

:04:43. > :04:47.wildlife could be under threat because of it. We all like to go to

:04:47. > :04:50.the beach on holiday. On the beach we might leave a bit of litter

:04:50. > :04:55.there, so a lot of it does come from the public. It also comes from

:04:55. > :05:00.shipping, so ropes and nets can be lost at sea, and also from fly-

:05:00. > :05:05.tipping as well, so people dumping things on the beach like, I don't

:05:05. > :05:08.know, old tyres and things like that that they shouldn't really be

:05:08. > :05:18.leaving there. This is why beach pollution makes it on to the Wild 5

:05:18. > :05:18.

:05:19. > :05:21.card - plastic litter on beaches has increased 135% since 1994. The

:05:21. > :05:27.good news is beach pollution is entirely preventable. These guy

:05:27. > :05:31.from the Marine Conservation Society's Beach Watch Campaign are

:05:31. > :05:35.making sure litter doesn't stick around here very long. Every month

:05:35. > :05:40.they pick a beach they're concerned about and head out to clean it up.

:05:40. > :05:44.And today they've got me as a helping hand.

:05:44. > :05:48.I mean, the frustrating thing - we have just found this bottle top. We

:05:48. > :05:53.have found loads of glass. We can do our best to clean this area, but

:05:53. > :05:55.when the tide comes in, it will bring in a whole heap of new

:05:55. > :06:01.rubbish, and that's just really lame.

:06:01. > :06:06.To show you how big the problem is, this is how much rubbish was found

:06:06. > :06:11.inside the stomach of a beached Minke whale. As you can see, it has

:06:11. > :06:15.a massive impact. That whale had obviously eaten all of this rubbish

:06:15. > :06:20.found out at sea. Nobody is saying you shouldn't have fun at the beach,

:06:20. > :06:26.but the next time you're here, by jumping your junk in one of these,

:06:26. > :06:28.it goes a long way to protecting our wildlife in our seas and on our

:06:28. > :06:31.beaches. Thank you very much. What have we

:06:32. > :06:34.got on tomorrow? We travel to Orkney. We're trying

:06:34. > :06:37.to find out why harbour seals are declining.

:06:37. > :06:40.Bosses at Rangers Football Club have been meeting to try and sort

:06:40. > :06:43.out the Scottish side's money problems. A deal to clear their

:06:43. > :06:48.debts fell through yesterday and it looks like players will now need to

:06:48. > :06:51.take huge pay cuts. Some reports say the club's biggest

:06:51. > :06:54.stars are being asked to lose a massive chunk of their wage. Two

:06:54. > :07:04.players have already left the club because of it. It's all because

:07:04. > :07:06.

:07:06. > :07:10.Rangers owes 50 million in tax. Here's one to get jumpy about!

:07:10. > :07:13.A two-day frog conference kicked off in Cambridgeshire today.

:07:13. > :07:16.A whole load of experts will try and work out how to cut the number

:07:16. > :07:19.of frogs and toads killed each year crossing roads. They're looking at

:07:19. > :07:29.the possibilities of using toad- crossings and toad-tunnels to keep

:07:29. > :07:33.

:07:33. > :07:37.them safe. Want to keep those toads safe!! A few years ago that might

:07:37. > :07:39.have been what I would like, but I am trying to cut down on the

:07:39. > :07:43.calories. Finally, imagine being able to have

:07:43. > :07:46.a piece of cake whenever you wanted? Cake lovers in America now

:07:46. > :07:49.can after this cupcake vending machine was installed by the owner

:07:49. > :07:51.of a bakery in LA. There are now plans for three more
