:00:00. > :00:00.You're watching Newsround on Wednesday seventh May. I'm Ricky and
:00:07. > :00:09.here's what's on the way... Why the world's fastest man is
:00:10. > :00:12.pleading for the return of his running shoes.
:00:13. > :00:15.And the family of geese who stopped traffic with their evening stroll.
:00:16. > :00:24.This is Newsround. First - we're going to take you live
:00:25. > :00:27.to the start of a really exciting new sporting event which kicks off
:00:28. > :00:30.in Britain this morning. Cycling fans around the country are looking
:00:31. > :00:38.forward to the first ever Women's Tour of Britain. It's five stages
:00:39. > :00:41.across five days. And some of Britain's best cyclists like Laura
:00:42. > :00:44.Trott and Dani King will be taking part. The racing starts off later
:00:45. > :00:54.through the streets of Northampton. The BBC's Nick Hope is there for us
:00:55. > :00:58.now. Tell us more. This is massive for women's cycling. We have got
:00:59. > :01:03.some of the best riders in the world, around 100, including the
:01:04. > :01:07.Olympic champion. We are expecting thousands of people to be lining the
:01:08. > :01:11.streets to cheer on their heroes. It is a chance for them to prove that
:01:12. > :01:15.they are every bit as good as the men. If the event goes well there is
:01:16. > :01:20.a chance that more women's races will be held here in the future.
:01:21. > :01:25.Taking part are Laura Trott and Dani King, and also Liz Young is dead,
:01:26. > :01:31.and they have got to travel 310 miles this week. We will have a
:01:32. > :01:39.quick look at the bike they will be using. It is about ?6,000 for one of
:01:40. > :01:45.these, so I will be gentle with it. It is very light. That is what you
:01:46. > :01:50.get for ?6,000. It is about the same weight as this microphone. Pretty
:01:51. > :01:54.impressive. As we say, they have got to travel 310 miles on those things.
:01:55. > :01:59.It will not be easy but they hope all of the support on the streets
:02:00. > :02:02.from the crowd will boost them. They want to see more people taking part
:02:03. > :02:08.in the sport, ridiculously women and young girls.
:02:09. > :02:13.Football now, and could this teenager be the bright hope that
:02:14. > :02:17.Manchester United so badly needs? 18-year-old James Wilson stole the
:02:18. > :02:23.show in his debut at Old Trafford, as United beat Hull City 3-1. It was
:02:24. > :02:27.a historic night for a number of reasons. Nemanja Vidic played his
:02:28. > :02:37.last game for United. And boss Ryan Giggs MIGHT have played his last
:02:38. > :02:42.game too. And he very nearly scored. I got coaxed into taking it 30 yards
:02:43. > :02:47.out. I cannot remember the last time I took one of them, so I was just
:02:48. > :02:51.pleased that I could reach. Was it in your mind that it could have been
:02:52. > :02:55.your last time? Not really. I will do my job both on the pitch and off
:02:56. > :02:59.the pitch as best as I can. Next up - burglars have made a very
:03:00. > :03:02.fast getaway with a pair of running shoes belonging to the world's
:03:03. > :03:06.fastest man, Usain Bolt. The orange trainers were signed by the Jamaican
:03:07. > :03:11.star, and had been displayed in a frame - along with a picture of him
:03:12. > :03:14.when he set a world record in 2009 - at a business in south London.
:03:15. > :03:16.They're thought to be worth 20,000. Usain has appealed for them to be
:03:17. > :03:20.returned. Next - we want you to go to the
:03:21. > :03:23.Newsround website this morning at the end of this bulletin and tell us
:03:24. > :03:26.about the amazing things YOUR grandparents do. Why? Well take a
:03:27. > :03:30.look at THIS athletic superstar. Olga Kotelko is 95 years old and she
:03:31. > :03:35.has won herself more than 750 gold medals in track and field events in
:03:36. > :03:42.Canada. She only took up athletics when she was 77. And now she's ahead
:03:43. > :03:51.of the field in her age group in sports like high jump, long jump and
:03:52. > :04:04.javelin. I have over 750 gold medals. In my last age group, which
:04:05. > :04:07.was 90-94, I made 26 world records. Records are made to be broken.
:04:08. > :04:11.Amazing stuff. Amazing lady! So go to the Newsround website and tell us
:04:12. > :04:14.about your brilliant sporting grandparents. Try out our quiz to
:04:15. > :04:17.see how much you know about the news. And check out how these
:04:18. > :04:22.amazing pictures of miniature people were made. Now, we know how slow and
:04:23. > :04:26.dull it can be, stuck in the car in loads of traffic. But drivers in
:04:27. > :04:30.America were delayed for over an hour last night because of a very
:04:31. > :04:34.different kind of traffic. A family of Canada geese decided it was a
:04:35. > :04:38.good time for an evening stroll. And all people could do was sit in their
:04:39. > :04:42.cars and wait for them to finish waddling along. Eventually the two
:04:43. > :04:46.geese and five goslings were escorted to safety by two police
:04:47. > :04:51.cars and a tow truck. That's us out of time for now. I'll be back at
:04:52. > :04:54.8.15 with news on Tom Daley. And you can see more of these little lion
:04:55. > :04:58.cubs having their first ever swim. You don't want to miss it. Have a
:04:59. > :05:00.great morning and I'll see you soon.
