0:01:20 > 0:01:22and about today, voting.

0:01:22 > 0:01:26Just like in the UK, local places, like schools have been turned

0:01:31 > 0:01:38Walking around Paris you wouldn't know much is going on.

0:01:38 > 0:01:41They've got to choose between two people to be their next president,

0:01:41 > 0:01:44a woman called Marine Le Pen and a man, Emanuel Macron.

0:01:44 > 0:01:46They're both very different, and have very different ideas

0:01:46 > 0:01:47about how to run the country.

0:02:12 > 0:02:13Back to you, Leah.

0:02:13 > 0:02:15Now, recognise these things?

0:02:15 > 0:02:17We've been taking a closer look at fidget spinners!

0:02:17 > 0:02:19Have they been banned from your school?

0:02:19 > 0:02:20Are they dazzling or distracting?

0:02:20 > 0:02:22Ricky's got this one.

0:02:22 > 0:02:30DANCE MUSIC.

0:02:30 > 0:02:31Fidget spinners are taking over playgrounds.

0:02:31 > 0:02:39The small toys have become the latest must-have gadget.

0:02:39 > 0:02:42My spinner is a glow-in-the-dark one.

0:02:42 > 0:02:45You get relaxed when it spins, and it's really satisfying.

0:02:45 > 0:02:48You can have challenges with other people, you can trade and you can

0:02:48 > 0:02:51customise them as well.

0:02:51 > 0:02:53These fidget spinners have got a rather surprising past.

0:02:53 > 0:02:55They were originally designed to help children with certain

0:02:55 > 0:02:58conditions like autism deal with stress.

0:02:58 > 0:03:03But these little things are causing big headaches for lots of teachers.

0:03:03 > 0:03:05Sometimes children, they get distracted,

0:03:05 > 0:03:07then they don't concentrate on their work.

0:03:07 > 0:03:09They try and rush it so they can play with it,

0:03:09 > 0:03:18and they don't produce much quality work.

0:03:18 > 0:03:20They've since been banned in a number of schools,

0:03:20 > 0:03:23but here in Manchester teachers are a bit more relaxed.

0:03:23 > 0:03:25They're happy for kids to play with them, but only

0:03:25 > 0:03:27outside of the classroom.

0:03:27 > 0:03:30You can play with them at lunchtime and playtime,

0:03:30 > 0:03:32but you're not allowed to play with them during class.

0:03:32 > 0:03:35We have them banned in classes, and around the school environment.

0:03:35 > 0:03:38You're only allowed them in break time, lunch.

0:03:38 > 0:03:42We're really happy to have kids enjoying fidget

0:03:42 > 0:03:43spinners on the playground.

0:03:43 > 0:03:45We're seeing them get a lot of fun, they're

0:03:45 > 0:03:47developing their fine motor skills.

0:03:47 > 0:03:51But we have asked that they put them away as soon as they enter

0:03:51 > 0:03:54the building, so that they are not a distraction in lessons.

0:03:54 > 0:03:55We've found children were more interested in watching

0:03:55 > 0:03:57each other do tricks than they were in

0:03:57 > 0:03:59watching the teacher.

0:03:59 > 0:04:02The spinners only cost a couple of pounds, but some websites have

0:04:02 > 0:04:04started to charge a lot more, as their popularity increases.

0:04:04 > 0:04:07VIDEO: Which one is better for fidgeting?

0:04:07 > 0:04:10Online videos showing tricks have had millions of views.

0:04:10 > 0:04:12Until the next big thing in the playground, it looks

0:04:12 > 0:04:22like the fidget spinner will be around until at least the summer.

0:04:22 > 0:04:24Next, to the gadget that's helping people with sight problems.

0:04:24 > 0:04:26Watch this.

0:04:26 > 0:04:29Meet Charlie - he's eight years old and loves

0:04:29 > 0:04:30gaming with his brothers.

0:04:30 > 0:04:32Charlie has Stargardt macular dystrophy, which means his eyes

0:04:32 > 0:04:35don't work properly.

0:04:35 > 0:04:38He started losing his sight when he was four.

0:04:38 > 0:04:41One night when we were driving home, you asked me, "Can you read the sign

0:04:41 > 0:04:42on the back of the van?"

0:04:42 > 0:04:43And I couldn't.

0:04:43 > 0:04:46Now these goggles are helping him to see

0:04:46 > 0:04:50properly for the first time.

0:04:50 > 0:04:52It works.

0:04:52 > 0:04:54HE GASPS

0:04:54 > 0:04:55Are you all right?

0:04:55 > 0:04:56Yeah...

0:04:56 > 0:05:04Are you just really pleased?

0:05:04 > 0:05:07So, if you have Stargardt, things that are far away get fuzzy

0:05:07 > 0:05:12and small.

0:05:12 > 0:05:16The goggles help Charlie zoom in and magnify what is in front of

0:05:16 > 0:05:17him.

0:05:17 > 0:05:20His school have decided to pay for the goggles to help him in

0:05:20 > 0:05:21class.

0:05:21 > 0:05:25He is able to work at the same pace as the rest of the

0:05:25 > 0:05:27children, and he's working at a very fast pace.

0:05:27 > 0:05:30He's lapping up all of the learning that we are offering him.

0:05:30 > 0:05:33The tech also helps Charlie play against his brothers, and even beat

0:05:33 > 0:05:34them at football.

0:05:34 > 0:05:43Yes!

0:05:44 > 0:05:45On your barks...

0:05:45 > 0:05:46Get set? Go!

0:05:46 > 0:05:49It's not just Olympic athletes who set off on the starter's pistol.

0:05:49 > 0:05:51Hundreds of four legged fundraisers have been running in a charity

0:05:51 > 0:05:53dog race in Thailand.

0:05:53 > 0:05:55It was a test for all shapes and sizes.

0:05:55 > 0:05:57The special track was designed to test their stamina.

0:05:57 > 0:06:00It's all to raise money for a hospital in the capital Bangkok.

0:06:02 > 0:06:05Look, Chief! There are new levels in the Danger Mouse Game.

0:06:05 > 0:06:08Really?! Will there be new locations to explore,

0:06:08 > 0:06:09new enemies to extinguish
