:00:28. > :00:32.90-year-old Bernard Jordan caused some worry when he went missing from

:00:33. > :00:37.his carehome but has just returned home from his secret trip to France.

:00:38. > :00:40.He decided to go it alone when couldn't get a place

:00:41. > :00:45.The celebrations were commemorate the day, 70 years ago, when British

:00:46. > :00:50.Forces landed in France to fight Hitler's army during World War Two.

:00:51. > :00:52.It was the biggest seaborne invasion in history.

:00:53. > :00:57.A massive military force set out from the UK towards France.

:00:58. > :01:00.Thousands of British soldiers landed on the beaches of Normandy

:01:01. > :01:04.and started to break through the German army's defences.

:01:05. > :01:07.One of those soldiers was Bernard Jordan.

:01:08. > :01:10.He was a young officer in the navy who crossed the English Channel to

:01:11. > :01:14.fight on the beaches of Normandy and kick the Germans out of France.

:01:15. > :01:20.At 90 years old, he lives in a care home in the south of England.

:01:21. > :01:23.He was desperate to join his collegues, but when he was told

:01:24. > :01:27.it couldn't be arranged in time, he decided to hide his medals under

:01:28. > :01:30.his grey coat and set off to France without telling anyone.

:01:31. > :01:34.At 90, it's not an easy trip to make and Bernard did forget

:01:35. > :01:40.But after making friends with some young

:01:41. > :01:44.soldiers on the ferry and joining in with some singing on board the boat,

:01:45. > :01:48.he was befriended by a collegue and made it to the celebrations.

:01:49. > :01:53.He had a really good time meeting friends.

:01:54. > :01:59.The message I have got back from him if he's looking forward to going

:02:00. > :02:07.back next year with the same veterans from Brighton.

:02:08. > :02:10.On his return back to the UK today, Bernard told the press

:02:11. > :02:14.He's now back at his care home where he's having a

:02:15. > :02:21.well-deserved rest and hopes to go back to Normandy again next year.

:02:22. > :02:23.Ukraine's new president Petro Poroshenko has been sworn in

:02:24. > :02:28.He won a landslide victory at the elections two weeks ago.

:02:29. > :02:31.It's hoped a new leader can help stabilise the country

:02:32. > :02:34.which has had lots of changes in the last couple of months, including

:02:35. > :02:37.the region of Crimea splitting off and coming under Russian control.

:02:38. > :02:40.There is still fighting in East Ukraine because some people there

:02:41. > :02:44.Mr Poroshenko and Russian President, Vladimir Putin,

:02:45. > :02:46.have agreed that the fighting in Eastern Ukraine should be brought

:02:47. > :02:54.It's the final of Britain's Got Talent tonight

:02:55. > :02:57.and all 11 acts will be hoping they'll be voted the winner.

:02:58. > :02:59.One of the finalists is violinist Lettice Rowbotham.

:03:00. > :03:06.She spoke to Ricky who asked her how she would feel if she wins the show.

:03:07. > :03:14.I would be so overwhelmed and so happy if I did win. I would be so

:03:15. > :03:18.grateful and I think it's important if you are about to perform, not to

:03:19. > :03:22.be nervous and really enjoy it and go, this is really fun. I'm going to

:03:53. > :03:55.Next, it's the addictive, yet simple game that keeps hundreds of millions

:03:56. > :04:00.We're talking about Tetris and this week it turned 30 years old.

:04:01. > :04:05.Ricky has been taking a look at the key to its success.

:04:06. > :04:08.It's a game of moving around different shapes made out

:04:09. > :04:13.of four blocks to fill a full line which in turn disappears.

:04:14. > :04:17.It's a simple idea, but 30 years after it was first developed,

:04:18. > :04:25.I've been playing the game for 25 years.

:04:26. > :04:36.I feel very relaxed about it when I play it and I'm really passionate

:04:37. > :04:41.about the game. Tetris was created in 1984 in Moscow

:04:42. > :04:44.by Russian scientist He decided on its name by combining

:04:45. > :04:48.the Greek word for four, "tetra," Its popularity soon spread and in

:04:49. > :04:52.1989 the Nintendo GameBoy launched The handheld console sold

:04:53. > :04:56.around 35 million copies. Even now you can still play Tetris

:04:57. > :05:08.on your phones or tablets. How come it's still such a popular

:05:09. > :05:13.game? Simplicity. Modern games are very absorbing and time-consuming

:05:14. > :05:17.but something like this you can pick up and play for ten minutes and if

:05:18. > :05:25.you want to do, you could play for hours because it's a very good game.

:05:26. > :05:27.Its catchy tune might have helped too.

:05:28. > :05:31.To celebrate its 30th year, the game reached new heights by being played

:05:32. > :05:36.And now to a touch and go tumbling tower that suffered

:05:37. > :05:41.Instead of the usual explosives used to knock down huge buildings,

:05:42. > :05:44.two men in the Belarusian city of Zaslavl decided to use a masonry

:05:45. > :05:48.Perhaps not the safest way to demolish something

:05:49. > :05:53.Luckily the men had just enough time to run out of harms way
