0:00:19 > 0:00:21And after day one of the Rio Olympics,

0:00:21 > 0:00:23Britain already has a new world record in the swimming pool.

0:00:23 > 0:00:26But on an emotional first day, there was also disappointment

0:00:26 > 0:00:29as some of Team GB's brightest medal hopes failed in their bid

0:00:29 > 0:00:30for Olympic glory.

0:00:30 > 0:00:33Ricky is in Rio and has all the details.

0:00:33 > 0:00:34Hello from Rio, Ricky here.

0:00:34 > 0:00:35Day one is done and it has certainly thrown

0:00:36 > 0:00:37up a few surprises.

0:00:37 > 0:00:40It's been really hot today here in the Olympic Park,

0:00:40 > 0:00:43temperatures have reached more than 30 Celsius.

0:00:47 > 0:00:49In the aquatic stadium, Adam Peaty, who is only

0:00:49 > 0:00:5521 years old, broke a world record.
