:00:27. > :00:32.Welcome along to Newsround. I'm Lee, guiding you through all the big

:00:32. > :00:37.stories -- Leah, guiding you through all the big stories. Find

:00:37. > :00:43.out why Katy Perry has been kissing the One Direction boys. First,

:00:43. > :00:49.let's head straight to London, where Ricky is outside the Olympic

:00:49. > :00:53.Park for us. Paralympic GB have done so well at these Games - more

:00:53. > :00:57.than anyone expected, really. Welcome back to the Olympic Park,

:00:57. > :01:00.here in East London. I love saying that. We've had another gold thanks

:01:01. > :01:06.to Josie Pearson in the discus. She managed to break a world record.

:01:06. > :01:10.That means we are second in the table. Behind China and just above

:01:10. > :01:15.Russia. We have 32 golds. This comes after a thrilling Thursday

:01:15. > :01:20.when we picked up plenty of golds thanks to Sarah Storey.

:01:20. > :01:26.Craig Craig Craig, who is 15 and Helena Lucas.

:01:26. > :01:36.Later in the day we got more golds, that was thanks to Hannah Cockroft

:01:36. > :01:38.

:01:38. > :01:43.in the T34 200 metres. David Weir picked up his third gold in the T54

:01:43. > :01:52.800 metres. Jonnie Peacock beat Oscar Pistorius with a new record

:01:52. > :01:58.in the T44 100 metre final. I knew it would be a tough race. When I

:01:58. > :02:02.crossed that line I thought "Yes." I had to wait for it to be on the

:02:02. > :02:07.board before I could take it in. The crowd were absolutely surreal.

:02:07. > :02:14.Now we have heard how Team GB and Paralympic GB, so 2012 Britain's

:02:14. > :02:22.athletes will be given an honour by the Queen. The honours list usually

:02:22. > :02:28.happens once or twice a year. There'll be a completely separate

:02:28. > :02:34.list for the athletes. Let me update you on what will happen

:02:34. > :02:41.later on. On the track we can look forward to Mickey Bushell in the

:02:41. > :02:47.T53 200 metres. That is at 8.34pm. Richard Whitehead goes for a sprint

:02:47. > :02:52.double in the T42, 100 metre. In an hour there is Sascha Kindred in the

:02:52. > :02:56.50 metre butterfly. That is in the pool. I will soak up the rest of

:02:56. > :03:00.the atmosphere and this wonderful view up here for the last time.

:03:00. > :03:04.Back to you in the studio. Thank you. Paralympic athletes have

:03:04. > :03:09.enjoyed a level of fame and interest never seen before over the

:03:09. > :03:12.past couple of weeks. Away from the track many disabled people face

:03:12. > :03:20.worries over funding they need to live their lives. The Government is

:03:20. > :03:25.pushing through plans to reduce the amount of money they give to

:03:25. > :03:29.disabled people. I went to speak to one wheelchair user. It has been a

:03:29. > :03:32.week-and-a-half of amazing achievements - top athletes defying

:03:32. > :03:39.the odds and changing many people's ideas about what it means to be

:03:39. > :03:44.disabled. Away from the millions of fans and Paralympic spotlight,

:03:44. > :03:48.every day with a disability can present challenges. Fatima was born

:03:48. > :03:53.with a condition which means her muscles are so weak, she needs a

:03:53. > :03:58.wheelchair to get around. Every day tasks such as brushing my teeth -

:03:58. > :04:02.steps are a big one, because I am in a wheelchair. One thing she

:04:02. > :04:06.relies on are taxis to get out and about. That is covered by the

:04:06. > :04:09.Disability Living Allowance. It is extra money to give people the

:04:09. > :04:13.extra to help care for themselves. The Government is cutting the

:04:13. > :04:17.amount of money available, which means many people could find

:04:17. > :04:21.themselves without this sort of support. I think it would make it

:04:21. > :04:27.harder for me to go out to see my friends because I would not be able

:04:28. > :04:32.to afford as many taxis. People don't have enough income to support

:04:32. > :04:36.their life and to lead an independent life. This allowance is

:04:36. > :04:39.to help you live your life. Government says there's been a big

:04:39. > :04:42.increase in the number of people claiming for money and it is

:04:42. > :04:46.costing too much. The country is in a lot of debt and they need to

:04:46. > :04:50.reduce much they give out. They say the new system will make sure help

:04:50. > :04:54.is going to the people who need it the most. The plans will be

:04:54. > :04:59.finalised in the next few months, but with the Paralympics drawing to

:04:59. > :05:05.a close, people like Fatima are hoping the every day challenges she

:05:05. > :05:09.faces don't get forgotten. Some sad news now, people have been

:05:09. > :05:13.paying tribute to a legend of children's TV, Terry Nutkins, who

:05:13. > :05:17.has died at the age of 66. Your parents would have heard of him

:05:17. > :05:23.because he worked on the BBC's first ever natural history

:05:23. > :05:29.programme made for children, animal magic and then The Really Wild Show.

:05:29. > :05:31.Joe Godwin said his enthusiasm and genuine love of animals would have

:05:31. > :05:35.inspired generations of children. Teachers in one of the biggest

:05:35. > :05:39.unions in England and Wales have voted to go on strike. Some members

:05:39. > :05:45.of the National Union of Teachers say they are unhappy about the

:05:45. > :05:50.changes to the amount they get paid, if it goes ahead. It will happen in

:05:50. > :05:55.the autumn and will cause big troubles to classrooms in the

:05:55. > :05:59.country. In Pakistan a Christian children has been released on bail.

:05:59. > :06:05.Rimsha, who is thought to be 14, was arrested in Islamabad three

:06:05. > :06:09.weeks ago, after she was arrested. The case caused an international

:06:09. > :06:13.row. The Pakistani President ordered a review. Rimsha is likely

:06:13. > :06:17.to be reunited with her parents, who are in hiding for their own

:06:17. > :06:21.safety. Prince Harry has arrived in Afghanistan where he will serve a

:06:21. > :06:26.four-month tour as an Apache helicopter pilot. This is his

:06:26. > :06:31.second stint working in the country. Four years ago he spent ten weeks

:06:31. > :06:35.as an infantry soldier there. In the Army, Harry is known as Captain

:06:35. > :06:38.Wales. Now, there's a warning that

:06:38. > :06:41.Britain's summers could become more stormy because of the melting ice

:06:41. > :06:45.in the Arctic. Scientists say the ice is melting faster than ever and

:06:45. > :06:51.it is likely to get worse over the next few years. Earlier this

:06:51. > :06:55.afternoon, I spoke to the BBC's science editor, who is in a

:06:55. > :06:59.Norwegian town in the Arctic Circle, where scientists are looking into

:06:59. > :07:04.this. I asked what evidence he has seen of the melting ice. Well,vy

:07:04. > :07:08.seen for myself, over a number of different -- I have seen for myself,

:07:08. > :07:13.over a number of different visits, how you have the ice on the land

:07:13. > :07:17.and in the frozen ocean melting in greater quantities. It is striking

:07:17. > :07:21.how rapidly this has changed. I saw that for myself just in the last

:07:21. > :07:25.few days on a boat trip north of here. Very striking to see how the

:07:25. > :07:29.sea ice has retreated. The scientists are stunned. Do we know

:07:29. > :07:34.at this stage why the ice is melting? Well, scientists have

:07:34. > :07:38.always forecast that the Arctic would warm quickly. Where you lose

:07:38. > :07:42.your bright, hiet reflective ice, which sends the rays back into

:07:43. > :07:47.space and instead have dark ocean, that absorbs more of the warmth and

:07:48. > :07:54.you get a vicious circle of melting and more warming. What impact will

:07:54. > :07:59.this have on UK summers? Well, the melt up is here is so great it is

:07:59. > :08:03.bound to have a knock-on effect to the weather system. That could

:08:03. > :08:08.affect the jet stream. More ice melts, you get a change in the jet

:08:08. > :08:11.stream. I am afraid we may get more wetter weather in the summers.

:08:11. > :08:17.on to sport now and tonight England, Wales and Northern Ireland all

:08:17. > :08:20.start their campaigns for a spot in the 2014 World Cup. Roy Hodgson's

:08:20. > :08:24.men will face Moldova without Wayne Rooney, who is out for a month with

:08:24. > :08:28.an injury. Northern Ireland will travel to Moscow to play Russia and

:08:28. > :08:33.Wales take on Belgium, and that is in Cardiff. Now, a little bit of

:08:33. > :08:37.show business news for you, because we know you love it - One Direction

:08:37. > :08:42.have scoped up three awards at the MTV awards. They won best pop video,

:08:42. > :08:47.for what makes you beautiful. Seeing off competition from Justin
