:01:29. > :01:31.against Apartheid, the racist way South Africa was ruled by white
:01:32. > :01:35.people. It was illegal for black people to use the same schools,
:01:36. > :01:38.hospitals, and even beaches as white people. They weren't allowed to vote
:01:39. > :01:40.either. But Nelson Mandela campaigned against Apartheid, and
:01:41. > :01:42.brought the whole country together when he became South Africa's first
:01:43. > :01:51.black president. He was, and will continue to be, an
:01:52. > :01:54.icon for people around the world. And tributes have been pouring Heads
:01:55. > :01:57.of state, political and religious leaders have been remembering the
:01:58. > :02:18.man they called Madiba - including friend former US president Bill
:02:19. > :02:28.Clinton. You knew you had to concentrate on the big things and
:02:29. > :02:32.overcome your own resentments. . There will be a national day of
:02:33. > :02:35.prayer in South Africa tomorrow and Nelson Madela's funeral will be held
:02:36. > :02:38.a week on Sunday. And in this country, a minute's
:02:39. > :02:41.applause will be held before kick-off at this afternoon's Premier
